INTRODUCTION
• Trichoderma is taken from thix-hair , derma-skin and the
genus was introduced by persoon.1794
• Later fries and koning 1902.-made first report from soil
and first author named the type species Trichoderma
koningii oud in the honour of junior author .
• Sometimes of use for controlling pathogenic fungi .
• Trichoderma species can readily be isolated from soil either
through soil plate or soil dilution plate methods .
• It can be grown on number of media.
• Agar media is more effective and well suited to laboratery
• Water and PDA are some of the media for cultivation and
maintenance of culltures.

- Taxonomix description of trichoderma species
- Trichoderma a hamatum .-
- Colonies; - slow growing.
- Chlamydospores=mostly globose to sub globose,smooth,7-12 um
in diam.
-Conidiophores= Highly remified from very compact tufy ,2-3 barrel
shaped cell.
- Phialides= Smooth , hyaline to pale greenish, short plump , pear
shaped oviod.
- Phialospores = Aggregate into slime , globose , conical , pale green ,
smooth .
- Trichoderma harzianum Rifai.
-Colonies= Growing rapidly , white green to bright green to dull
green .
- Mycelium ;- Septate ,colourlees , smooth ,1.5-2.5 um .
- Chlamydospores = mostly globose , smooth , 6-12 um in diam .
- Conidiophores = Loose tufy , main branch produced numerous side
branches specially lower portion .

- Phialides ;= Arise flase varticellate upto five , short , skittle
shapes narrow at the base .
- Phialospores = subglobose , short obovoid , smooth , pale
green much darker in mass,2.8-2.5 um .
- Trichoderma koningii Oudem ;-
- Colonies = fast growing , greenish white to dull to dark
green .
- Mycelium = hyaline , highly ramified ,2-5 um.
- Chlamydospores = formed in submerged hyphae , globose
upto 12 um in diam .
- Conidiophores = much branched , compact or loose tufy ,in
group of 2-3 at wide angles .
- Phialides = pin shaped ,7-2.5 um .
- Phialospores =Elliptical ,oblong ,pale green ,3-2 um size .
- Trichoderma piluliferum Rifai ;-
- Colonies = slow growing , white mycelial over the surface .

- Mycelium = smooth , colourless , upto 10um in diam .
- Chlamydospores = highly ramified ,compact tufy , main
branches 5-7um diam ,thick .
- Phialides = typically short , plump , 4-6um ,short flask
shaped .
- Phialospores = Produced singly and accumulate at the
tip, globose, to sub globose ,smooth ,colourless, 2-3um
size .
- Trichoderma polysporum ;-
- Colonies = slow growing, watery white .
- Mycelium = hylaline , smooth 2-3um .
- Conidiophores = Irregular , close together, tufy long,
- Phialides = short , plump , pear shaped ,conicol neck ,.
- Phialospores = smooth , 2.8-1.8um .
