2. ENCONSYSTEM®
The ENCON-3000 SYSTEM is a natural, environmentally friendly procedure for soil
stabilization. Any soil has the natural potential for stabilization, all you need is high
pressure over a long period of time. With the addition of ENCON-3000® and applying
special equipment, this process is accelerated and the soil‘s density and performance is
greatly improved.
Application
Basically all soil types can be used for the application of ENCON-3000 ®. This applies to
all cohesive and semi-cohesive soils with a higher content of fine particles such as clay
and silt. However, other types of non-cohesive soil (sand and gravel) can be treated for
permanent stabilization with ENCON-3000 ® as well. This is done by adding the
missing fine clay fractions to the in-situ soil.
The use of ENCON-3000 ® is suitable for mainly soil material that meets the following
parameters (optimal range of application):
Sieving of the fractions should result in this optimum composition:
1/3 fine soil particles (<0.063mm) - 1/3 sand ( >0.063mm, < 2mm) - 1/3 gravel
(>2mm)
The clay content (<0.002mm) in the fine soil (<0.063mm) should be at least
15-25%.
The residual moisture should be in the vicinity of optimum Proctor
The reference value Proctor density of soil treated (pd) must be > 1850 kg / m³
3. Properties
The following are the properties of soil that has been enhanced with the ENCON-3000®
A load capacity of 3 to 5 times greater than that of the untreated soil
Increased soil density
Greatly reduced soil water absorption as well as the elimination of capillary action
Improved kf value
Decreased swelling and contraction behavior in the soil
Reduced sensitivity towards frost
Resistance against erosion
Agglomeration of fine and very fine soil particles
Effects on the Environment
The ingredients of ENCON-3000 are organic and environmentally safe.
• The nanoparticles are organic and will not leach into surrounding soil or
groundwater
• If the nanoliquid comes in contact with plant roots, it will not inhibit growth or
water absorption of the plant
4. Technology – Procedure
1. Analysis
Review the existing soil with sieve analysis and sedimentation. It is important
when testing to first remove the humus (organic substances)
The best composition (sieve analysis) is fine fraction 1/3, 1/3 sand and gravel,
1/3 gravel (broken stones)
Minimum 15% -20% of the total weight of the existing soil must be clay
(<0.002 mm).
Confirm the pH value of the soil
Verify the required amount of ENCON-3000®
Measure the Proctor Optimim OMC
Form a test body in the laboratory (so you can see what the results are
expected in the field)
Test capillary ascension, drying the test body to half the OMC value and then
keep testing for 2 days at 2 cm of water
If the earth changes, new testing must be done
5. 2. Construction
Mulch and Mix the ENCON-3000®
Solution with a Pulverizer
Mix ENCON-3000® with enough water to achieve the optimum final specified
result. If the soil is too wet or too dry, it Will be dificult to achieve desired
hardness and it Will be more difficult to compact.
Reconstruct the plane of the road with a Grader.
6. 3. Compaction
• Only properly compacted soil (soil compacted to 98% of AASHTO specifications)
will perform as desired – this includes increased load capacity and the stopping of
capillary action.
• Use a sheepsfoot roller then a rubber roller to compact the soil
• Finish the surface with a smooth roller
8. 5. Road Cover
After rolling, if load capicity is as desired specification, apply a cover if required.
The cover or cap can be made of whatever material is most easily accesable (for
example concrete or asphalt)
