2. 6th Asian Soil Partnership MEETING | 4-5 February 2021
Main activities implemented in the country
under Pillar 1: Promote sustainable management of
soil resource protection, conservation and sustainable
productivity
• Produced the “Guideline for Sustainable Land Management of Watershed” under
GEF and UNDP funded pilot project entitle “Collaborative Management for
Watershed and Ecosystem Service Protection and Rehabilitation in the Cardamom
Mountains, Upper Prek Thnot River Basin (CoWES)”;
• Promoted the best practices on site specific nutrient management (SSNM) in rice
production system through the approaches of soil analysis and nutrient ratting
based on crop requirement;
• Enhancing soil and nutrient management for Improving Jasmine rice production
system through application of 15N Stable Isotopic Technique;
• Promoted Conservation Agriculture (CA) technology and knowledge;
• Created CASIC (Cambodia Conservation Agriculture and Sustainable
Intensification Consortium), a platform for scaling up CA at country and region
level.
3. 6th Asian Soil Partnership MEETING | 4-5 February 2021
Main activities implemented in the country
under Pillar 2: Encourage investment, technical
cooperation, policy, education awareness and extension
in soil
• Provided national training courses on Sustainable Soil
Management for the stakeholders in watershed landscape
for sub-national level (Public provincial departments,
Provincial to local authorities, Economic Land Concession
companies, Forest Protection Communities, etc.);
• Provided National training on Soil and Nutrient
Management for Safety Vegetable Production for
Agricultural Cooperatives (Socioeconomic reformed strategy
adopted by Cambodian Government in Covid-19 pandemic).
4. 6th Asian Soil Partnership MEETING | 4-5 February 2021
Main activities implemented in the country
under Pillar 2: Encourage investment, technical
cooperation, policy, education awareness and extension
in soil
• Provided national training on Conservation Agriculture for
staff of the Provincial Department of Agriculture, Forestry and
Fisheries (PDAFFs) to strengthen CA extension networks;
• Institutional capacity building on Digital Soil Mapping under
the Technical Cooperation Project with supported by
AFACI/RDA and FAO;
• Developed the National Soil Information System (Web-based
app);
• Cambodian Soil Note is expected to publish in this year, 2021.

What did your country do on the World Soil Day?
6. 6th Asian Soil Partnership MEETING | 4-5 February 2021
•Main activities implemented in the country
under Pillar 3:Promote targeted soil research and
development focusing on identified gaps and priorities
and synergies with related productive, environmental
and social development actions
To mitigate GHGs emission actions and enhance
Carbon Sequestration, DALRM has promoted
• CA R4D and its practices (Improved soil health,
soil quality, crop yields and quality, preventing
soil erosion; and
• Improved nitrogen use efficiency in rice crop
production.
