8. What is the PRESENT PERFECT TENSE?
The Present Perfect tense is used to create a link between the
past and the present. This tense:
 Expresses actions that started in the past and continues in
the present using the adverbs of time: “for” / “since”.
Describes experiences, achievements and regrets.
Describes actions related to the present using the adverbs
of time: “just” “already” and “yet”.

SUBJECT + HAVE / HAS + PAST PARTICIPLE + COMPLEMENT

PP: They have been married for 4 years. (Started in the past and still
continues now.)
SP: They were married for 4 years. (Happened in the past, but
doesn’t continue.)
PP: He has studied English at that university.
SP:He studied English at that university.
PP: I have not done my homework yet.
SP: I did not do my home.

12. Class Activity: (WHO AM I?)
1. In groups (5 - 8) you’ll get a card that has a famous person’s name.
2. Without telling your classmate what name it is, stick the paper to your classmate’s
forehead and then ask him/her to guess who it is. You can give clues to help.
Example of clue: You won the last Grammy. / You have sung a lot of famous songs.
Remember to use Simple Past or Present Perfect when describing.
