Project Title Morality
Section 1: A review of progress and achievement through parts 1 & 2 of the course
(Approx 150 words)
Throughout the pathway stages of the course I have gained a better understanding
of documenting my work through sketch booking and blog work. I have learnt how to
formulate story, how to script write better and have gained skills like learning how to
animate and build a soundtrack. I have chosen the film pathway as that is what I feel
most passionate about and I hope to go on to become a filmmaker.
Section 2: Project Concept (approx 250 words)
2. I plan to produce a script, based on the theme of morality; pushing yourself to the
limits of your own moral compass, I will look into the concept of greed verses
necessity and need, which I will develop into a short film and the surrounding
advertising campaign of the short film. This idea developed from my interest in the
recent Hatton Garden Heist, I will begin my research by looking into the robbery of
Hatton Garden Safety Deposit and similar robberies such as the Millennium Dome
Raid and The Great Train Robbery. I will read books that detail the robberies, as well
as watching the documentaries and films made about the robberies. My story will
follow two characters placed in a situation where they are forced to make a hard
moral decision concerning committing a robbery. I plan to make the characters young
as it will relate more to me and my age group. I find the struggles of young people
and the learning curve of their own moral compass very engaging, as I am able to
relate to this, as I am of similar age. For research I will also look at the upcoming
exhibition; āThe Crime Museum Uncoveredā (Museum of London). I also plan to read
Killer by Charlie Seiga, as this is a book that details a robbery of money from a post
office, and this book was found in the home of one of the accused in the Hatton
Garden Heist. As I am working in a pair my role in the group will be editing and
sound, as well as co-writing and co-directing.
Section 3: Evaluation (approx 100 words)
3. To evaluate my work I will; make tutors and classmates read my scripts, use test
screenings to a variety of audiences and interview the audience for their feedback. I
will use crits in class as a use of feedback to make improvements. I will also present
my animatics to other students, to gain an understanding of the audienceās
understanding of my film. I will also upload my drafts to social media websites to gain
a wider variety of audience feedback. I will use my blog to help reflect on my work
and record my progression through this brief, the blog will also help me stick to my
brief and the aims I wish to achieve in this project.
