● No official national construction codes or
environmental regulations for Haiti
● Haiti currently uses international building codes
○ ACI-318, Euro Code 8, Canadian National Building Code
○ Ministry of Public Works, Transport and Communications (MTPTC)
regulates construction in Haiti. Due to lack of human and capital
resources, a lot of current construction is not up to code.
○ For stormwater and erosion, we plan to investigate methods that nearby
countries are using such as the Dominican Republic and Jamaica and
apply a similar approach for Haiti.
