This project concerned signal processing and data analysis for the extraction of clinical parameters.
Physiological signals (HR and respiration) from newborn subjects have been analyzed and results
have been verified with different statistical analyses.
This work was done in collaboration with Professor William P. Fifer and Professor Maria G. Signorini.

This experience helped me to develop good organisational skills since several courses implied
cooperation with students of different cultures and educational backgrounds. An essential requirement

Communication skills Since High School I developed good Italian and English communication skills which helped me
throughout my academic studies.
A good knowledge of both written and oral English has been acquired by attending different language
courses. It has also been improved by travelling and living abroad, both in Belgium and in the United
States, since it was possible to come in contact and work with people from all around the world.
Organisational / managerial skills Good organisational skills have been developed by working in teams during my university studies
several times. Especially during the Erasmus experience I had the chance to deal with students
coming from different countries.
Both Bachelor and Master's theses, which required to work in pairs with two colleagues, helped me to
improve time management skills.
Job-related skills The studies that I have undertaken provide me knowledge of several scientific subjects, such as
maths and physics. During my bachelor degree in biomedical engineering I became interested in
studying the anatomy and physiology of the human body as well as computer science and electronics.
During the master I focused my attention in studying technologies and electronic devices that improve
clinical evaluation. Signal processing, medical imaging and medical robotics were some of the topics
that I decided to study more in depth in optional courses and that I am more interested in.

Digital competences - Self-assessment grid
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office and, in particular, of Microsoft Word, Power Point and Excel.
This last has been also used to perform data analysis and statistical analyses;
- Good knowledge of C++, developed through university studies. By using this programme it was
possible to create a software for the management of different patients' medical records;
- Good knowledge of MATLAB (Mathworks), developed through university studies. In particular,
several project works required knowledge of both signal processing and image processing as well as
robotic toolboxes.
- Good knowledge of LaTeX: this language has been used to create different text documents.
