Q&A Johanna Jennings, carer at Nazareth House
What was your earliest ambition?
I wanted to become a nurse, housewife and someone
who is caring
Who has been your biggest inspiration?
Helping my mum look after my dad after an accident
Who was your most grateful resident?
Nora; she was a nurse and I looked after her till she
passed away. She was nearly 100 years old
What personal ambition do you still have?
Continuing to care for people
Care from our residents;
We have heard heart-warming stories of carers receiving
care from the residents they help to look after. Forming
relationships with residents seems to be a significant source
of job satisfaction for many of the carers we speak to, and it
seems these relationships work both ways!
Being told “you are really good” when offering a resident a
drink, and that “I like the days you are working, I will miss
you when you are gone”, have encouraged and
strengthened a sense of purpose for some of our amazing
carers at Princess Louise of Kensington.
6. Local recognition
• “This has definitely inspired me in
my workforce planning”
• “It was just good to network and
meet other providers”
• “Very important to continue to
further events like this one”
National recognition
Caring for Care has been highly
commended for the Healthcare
Transformation Awards 2017, supported
by NHS England and the National
Association of Primary Care (NAPC).
