I have 33 years of professional experience in civil, structural and architectural design,
conceptual, basic and detailed engineering, permitting, procurement, field assistance,
construction supervision, commissioning, start up and handover for the power, chemical ,
petrochemical, refining, pharma & biotech, food & consumer and industrial market.
My expertise includes large steel structures (site erected and modular design), large industrial
concrete buildings, sewerage, utility buildings (such as electrical substations up to to 150kV,
pump stations , analyzer buildings,…), port marine structures, power production plants, rail
road works and general logistics, clean design for pharmacy and food industry, calculations
according Euro Code and any other code, passive fire proofing systems, painting systems and
massive grouting works for heavy dynamic loaded equipments. All of these works done in
green field, brown field or revamp conditions.
My technical experience includes calculations by hand and many available software (ESA PT,
ROBOT) for foundations, reinforced concrete and structural steel , design and drafting by hand
and ACAD (AutoCad 2012, DraftSight 2014), using client orientated standards and
specifications. Developing scopes of work, site development and consultancy.

Relevant Project Experience Includes:
• Civil / Structural Expert Engineering Project Lead for FEED, Detailed design and
Construction on the €850MM OPTARA Project at TOTAL Refinery Antwerp (TRA)
executed in 2012 - 2016
The objective of this project was to utilize the synergy between the Amsterdam-Rotterdam-
Antwerp refineries of the TOTAL Group to its fullest and to adapt them to the development
in the demand for their products. To adjust the refineries to the future situation, multiple
infrastructural changes are absolutely necessary.
Services include the FEED, detailed engineering and construction engineering done by
several design sub-contractors. The work was split up in several lots. The main unit was
developed on a brown field area, others are part of transformations on existing units in pre
shut down and shut down activities.
Key challenges in this project are the limited space available, short execution time and high
interaction in the existing units with coordination between different design sub-contractors
and TRA-production facilities.
My responsibilities included the full follow up on all lots of the civil and structural design
and construction works, including the passive fire proofing, painting works, ventilation and
air conditioning on particular units as being the civil/Structural engineering advisor.
Because of the tight schedule and limited space available on site, the structures were
designed as a fully equipped modular system with elements up to 1200 ton.
• Principal Engineer Civil / Structural for Basic and Detailed Engineering on the €
150MM New IPV Project for Glaxo-Smith-Kline (Wavre) executed in 2011-2013.
The objective of this pharmaceutical grass root project was the installation of a new Polio
vaccines production unit.
Services include the follow up and coordination of external design sub-contractors and
multi-office working (Paris – Antwerp – New Delhi).
The functional layout, the related building services and utilities are a grass root project.
Key challenge of this project is the design and integration of the project in the global GSK
master plan.
My responsibilities included Civil - Structural & Architectural Engineering and Design
Coordination as Civil – Structural Lead engineer.
The Civil / Structural part was running up front of all other engineering departments
resulting in the issuing of early construction packages 1 year ahead of the detailed design
of process.
• Principal Engineer Civil / Structural for Detailed Design Support on the € 160MM New
Biochemical Project for SOLVAY (Brussels) – VINYTHAI (Thailand) to be executed in
2010-2011.
The objective of this chemical grass root project was the installation of a new
epychloorhydrine production unit for a 100,000 tons capacity.
Services include the follow up and coordination of external design sub-contractors
(Building Permit Application, ISBL Unit design, OSBL design coordination) and integration
of their work in the global project schedule and TIC estimate.
Key challenge of this project is achieving the project schedule and the implementation of
the project in a phased execution.
My responsibilities included Civil - Structural Engineering and Design Coordination as
Principal Civil – Structural engineer.

• Principal Engineer Civil / Structural for Step 1 Basic and Detailed Design Support on
the € 62MM New Chemical Terminal Project for ITC - RUBIS and the Gas Bullets
Project to be executed in 2008-2009.
The objective of this chemical grass root project was the installation of a new terminal for
storage and handling of chemicals with a capacity of 40,000-cubic meters in step 1 with
future extension up to 110,000 cubic meter capacity.
Services include the follow up and coordination of external design sub-contractors
(Building Permit Application, Jetty design, Main Building design) and integration of their
work in the global project schedule and TIC estimate.
Key challenge of this project is achieving the project schedule and the implementation of
the project in a phased execution.
My responsibilities included Civil - Structural & Architectural Engineering and Design
Coordination as Civil – Structural Lead engineer.
• Principal Engineer Civil for Detailed Design Support on the € 2.5MM Renewal of
Izegem 150kV/10kV substation for ELIA / BEL-Engineering.
The objective of this power distribution project is the installation of new condenser batteries
on the High Voltage fields on the Izegem 150kV/10kV sub station for ELIA /
BEL_Engineering. The functional layout, the related building services and utilities are a
renewal project.
Services include the detailed design of the structures and construction assistance.
Key challenge of this project is the design and integration of the project in the live High
Voltage plant with all required construction phases and power shut downs and the
integration of the team within a partnership with BEL-engineering.
My responsibilities included Civil - Structural Engineering, Design and Construction

• Principal Engineer Civil for Detailed Design Support on the € 3.5MM Renewal of
Langerlo 150kV/10kV substation for ELIA / BEL-Engineering.
The objective of this power distribution project is the installation of new condenser batteries
on an extension of the High Voltage fields on the Langerlo 150kV/10kV sub station for
ELIA / BEL_Engineering. The functional layout, the related building services and utilities
are a renewal project.
Key challenge of this project is the design and integration of the project in the live High
Voltage plant with all required construction phases and power shut downs and the
integration of the team within a partnership with BEL-engineering.

Filling Facility Project for GSK Biologicals executed in 2007-2008.
The objective of this pharmaceutical project is the implementation of a new Live Viral
Vaccine Filling Facility Plant on the GSK Biologicals Wavre premises. The functional
layout, the related building services and utilities are a grass root project.
Key challenge of this project is the design and integration of the project in the global GSK

My responsibilities included Civil - Structural & Architectural Engineering and Design

• Principal Engineer Civil for Basic and Detailed Design Support on the € 120MM New
Chemical Development Pilot Plant Project for Janssen Pharmaceutica at Geel
executed in 2007.
The objective of this chemical extension project is the implementation of a new Pilot Plant
on the Janssen Pharmaceutica Geel premises. The functional layout, the related building
services and utilities are a grass root project.
Key challenge of this project is the multi-office approach of the project.
My responsibilities include support to the JE Cork office for the Civil - Structural &
Architectural Engineering and Design.
• Principal Engineer Civil for Detailed Design Support on the € 1MM Extension
Scrubber Plant 4 Project for Janssen Pharmaceutica at Geel executed in 2007.
The objective of this chemical extension project is the implementation of new Scrubbers for
Plant 4 on the Janssen Pharmaceutica Geel premises. The functional layout and utilities
are a grass root project to be implemented in an existing plot.
Key challenge of this project was the restricted modification area and short time schedule.

• Principal Engineer Civil for Detailed Design on the € 4MM New Granulator Project for
Timcal at Willebroek executed in 2007.
The objective of this chemical extension project is the implementation of a granulator with a
big bag packing line. The objective of this chemical project is big-bagging of carbon black
by designing a sequence of equipment for solids receiving, conveying, densifying and
bigbag filling.
Key challenges of this project were the timeframe in which the project had to be executed.
Within 10 months a building was demolished, piping relocated, a new 110 tons steel
building was erected. Further a 23 tons SS silo was procured, fabricated and installed
within 7 months.
My responsibilities included Civil - Structural & Architectural Engineering and Design and
Construction support.
• Principal Engineer Civil for Detailed Design on the € 8.5MM Plastic Vials Filling Line
Project for Pfizer at Louvain-La-Neuve executed in 2006-2007.
The objective of this pharmaceutical (animal health) revamp project is the implementation
of a new multi dose filling line, capable of handling plastic bottles of 100 ml and 250 ml.
This line includes related unwrapping device and subsequent capping line equipments.
The functional layout, the related HVAC systems, building services and clean utilities were
modified.
Key challenge of this project was the restricted modification areas.
My responsibilities included Civil - Structural & Architectural Engineering and Design and
Construction support.
• Principal Engineer Civil for the Feasibility Study, Budget Estimate, Basic Design on
the Super Critical Fluid (SCF) Project for Janssen Pharmaceutica in building 146 on
the Beerse site executed in 2005.
The objective of this pharmaceutical revamp project is a feasibility study of building &
utilities, equipment consultancy and basic design for the installation of a new super critical
fluid (SCF) system in the Eex zone of a pharmaceutical production development building.
Key challenge of this project was to fit the installation within several existing rooms with as
minor as possible adaptations. In order to mitigate the project challenges, we worked
closely together with several equipment vendors and applied innovative design of the clean
rooms and equipment.
My responsibilities included civil - structural & architectural engineering and design.
• Principal Engineer Civil for Detailed Design on the New Powder Spray Dryers 1&3 of
Building 146 Project for Janssen Pharmaceutica at their site in Beerse, executed in
2004-2005.
The objective of this pharmaceutical revamp project is the installation of 2 new spray
dryers in an existing building. Several modifications and extensions had to be made to the
building, HVAC and utilities. Due to the complexity of the project, a 3D model was made of
the new installations.
Key challenge of this project was to execute the project in a building under operation.
My responsibilities included civil - structural & architectural engineering and design and
construction support.
• Principal Engineer Civil for Basic Design on the € 8.5MM Plastic Vials Filling Line
Project for Pfizer at Louvain-La-Neuve executed in 2005.
The objective of this pharmaceutical (animal health) revamp project is the implementation

modified and a detailed bid analysis of the main long lead equipments was executed.
Key challenge of this project was the restricted modification areas.

• Principal Engineer Civil for Conceptual Design on Various Projects at Janssen
Pharmaceutica, Beerse, 2005-2006.
Responsibilities included civil - structural & architectural engineering.
• Principal Engineer Civil for Basic Design and EPCm Services on the € 70MM A6+
Debottlenecking Project for Ineos Phenol for their phenol plant at Doel, executed in
2005-2006.
The objective of this chemical revamp project is a capacity increase from 470 to 680kt/y,
including design of 400 equipments and approximately 1500 lines. The capacity increase
was realized through adding parallel lines mainly in the oxidation, concentration and
cleavage section, while for the products purification sections an entirely new concept has
been developed that allowed a minimum investment cost through the maximum reuse of
existing equipment. The modifications in the distillation section carried a strong revamp
character.
Key challenges of this project were the very short execution schedule, minimizing of the
investment and the shutdown period, the successful implementation of a new technology
and the integration of large equipment in an existing operating plant.
Using smart engineering insights and optimalization of existing racks we provide piperack
extensions to construction.
My responsibilities included civil / structural engineering, design and construction follow-up.
• Principal Engineer Civil for Detailed Engineering and Construction Services on the
€ 1.5MM Finishing Area Project - Phase 1 for Cambrex Profarmaco at their active
pharmaceutical ingredients plant in Landen, executed in 2005.
The objective of this pharmaceutical revamp project was the installation of a new
warehouse (450m²) with clean rooms.
Key challenges of this project were the tight schedule and budget requirements, cGmP
compliance and constructability of the extension without interference with the existing
production. Multiple constructability reviews were conducted as well as several GmP
reviews to achieve these goals. We delivered this project within budget (10% under run);
within schedule and with proven cost savings by application of Value Plus.
My responsibilities included civil & structural engineering, design support and construction
supervision.
• Principal Engineer Civil for Basic Design and EPCm Services on the € 49MM Bigan
Project for Solvay for their site at Lillo, executed in 2003-2005.
The objective of this chemical expansion project is the installation of a new electrolyse unit
with bi-polar membrane technology with a capacity of 120kT/y liquid chlorine, added to the
existing capacity of 180kT/y.
Key challenge of this project was the 14 month fast track schedule between detailed
engineering and start up. We worked in an integrated team at the client’s headquarters to
create a maximum benefit between the client’s process experience and our methodology
ad flexibility. The project was started up in time and within budget.
