CEO Mr.Steve Van Loan
Sullivan Machinery Company is established to manufacture rock drilling and quarry machinery in
Claremont New Hampshire USA and became an early pioneer of air compressor design and
manufacture in the following years.
1868
Sullivan Machinery develops their WG-3 single cylinder rugged air compressor using the
principals of simplicity and strengths from earlier designs.
1918
Sullivan Machinery is now well established as a leader in air compressor design and
manufacturing with a wide range of Industrial and Portable air compressors including the 4
cylinder balanced air compressors running continuously 24hrs/day until completion of work to operate 8
pneumatic drills and 3 riveting hammers to carryout structural changes to the British liner “Mauretania”.
1927
Sullair Corporation, a breakaway Company from Sullivan Machinery, is established by Don
Hoodes.
1965
Joy (owner of Sullivan Machinery) commences manufacture of rotary screw compressors.1970
Palatek Corporation Concept was established to supply engineering services to existing air
compressor Companies under the leadership of Steve Van Loan.
1984
Sullivan-Palatek is formed combining both the electric and portable compressor Companies,
with the portables located in Claremont NH and the industrials in Michigan City, Indiana, USA
1998
The “Ultimate Performance Rotary Screw Air Compressor” is introduced.1991
Sullivan-Palatek was chosen by Caterpillar as its mainly recommended brand of its rental
business for portable compressors.
2006
Sullivan-Palatek purchases 33 acres in Michigan City, Indiana USA to build their new
Headquarters. They will merge the electric industrial air compressor division and the diesel
portable air compressor division into a 160,000 square-foot state of the art manufacturing facility
in Michigan City, Indiana USA.
2007
Sullivan-Palatek receives the Pillar of Industry award for three consecutive years from the
Association of Equipment Manufacturer.
2012-2014
Sullivan Asia is established with Asian partners to further enhance their global reach and to
better service this Region.

Permanent Magnet Frequency Conversion Control,

Under load conditions, the speed is automatic adjusted according to the actual air consumption
of the compressor working conditions, and can provide the best and most accurate compressed
air volume at all times.
Through constant pressure control, the target pressure can be accurately controlled within±
0.01 Mpa, which saves around 35% energy savings compared to constant frequency
compressors and 7% energy savings compared to common variable speed.
The motor stops automatically when the amount of compressed air required by users is very
low.

Inverter has the characteristics of step-less speed regulation.
Through the controller or the PID regulator inside the converter,
the machine can start smoothly and can quickly adjust the
response to the large fluctuation of compressed air output in
operating condition.
The pressure stability is improved exponentially compared with
the upper and lower limit switch control of power for constant
frequency machine.
Since the converter itself covers the function of soft starter, the
maximum starting current is less than 1.2 times the rated
current, and the starting impact is very small compared with the
constant frequency machine starting which is generally more
than 6 times the rated current.
Not only the impact on the power grid is small, but also the
impact on the whole mechanical system is greatly reduced.
