Editor's Notes

  1. According to www.merriam-webster.com, a reputable online dictionary, this is the correct definition of Social Media.
  2. Your audience is your audience because they are interested in what you say or what products you can give.
  3. Visual Content- The audience has less patients for long, drawn out reading.Multitasking- use to tagging and documenting events for example Facebook’s timeline-The audience wants what is popular, new and near to their location (which is in they have internet access). The audience has an audience thus the word gets out quicker and others tend to flock to anything new, trendy and again near them.Self actualization- with all the pictures, connections and brands, social networking has changed the internet from just an information platform to a communication platform.
  4. IT Central Station is a platform built for the tech communityG+ builds a bio that links to your personal or professional websitePinterest gives the user the opportunity to “pin” what interests them on there pageFacebook is a network that helps you connect with friends, family, contacts. Great for networking to keep your business viral.
  5. Example of a business using social media:HelpRecommendationsShaping new business relationshipsCost EffectiveCan have direct conversations with customers and contactsDraws high traffic and can be linked to company’s original web siteEnhances brand exposure and loyaltyTime saving elementGreat way to connect with peers in the same industryHurtHaving the wrong person in chargeIf your brand is not being represented appropriately Not using the RIGHT social media platforms correctlyUsing as a sounding board for products that haven’t been sold or a bad business meetingBashing your competitorToo much product promotionNot replying or communicating to comments and inquiries
  6. Although social media is a great tool for marketing and advertising that doesn’t mean you should shun away from traditional advertising. Social media improves the way you get your product and brand information across the world.
  7. Here is an example of traditional media over social media and how the advertising industry have come a long way. This is why social media is a great add on to Northwestern Technologies advertising and marketing department and a company as a whole.
  8. It’s up to the company to fill in the blanks of their audience. If presented and executed correctly your audience will bring in more and more new customers and potential clients.
