Ashok Gehlot
visited a private
diagnosis centre on
Wednesday afternoon
where the CM got his toe
examined. During this
time, the team of doctors
from SMS Hospital was
also present. After the
check-up, CM talked to
the media during which
Gehlot fiercely attacked
Modi government. CM
said that no relief is being
given by Central Govern-
ment, instead election
gimmicks are being ad-
opted. “The central gov-
ernment can do anything
for elections. The reality
is that the central govern-
ment is coming on the
backfoot. We are all set
for the elections. Recent-
ly, in a program the PM
got my name removed
from the speech, still I at-
tended the program. Con-
gress is going to form the
govt once again in Rajas-
than. Opposition has no
issue at all on the basis of
which it can seek votes
from public,” he said.
Gehlot has made alle-
gations of corruption in
court and claimed that
the decisions are written
through lawyers. “Today
there is a lot of corruption
happening in judiciary. I
have heard that many
lawyers take judgment in
writing in court and it is
that judgement that is
passed by court. What is
this happening in the ju-
diciary? Be it lower judi-
ciary or upper, situation
is serious. Countrymen
must think,” he said. P8

‘Dept to initiate action to cancel recognition’

Jaipur
The Education Depart-
ment is planning to take a
stern step against schools
on not giving admission
under RTI by cancelling
their recognition.
Jaipur’s district educa-
tion officer has sent a pro-
posal to the department
for cancelling recognition
of 24 private schools in
the district.
The move follows the
education department’s
proposal to cancel recog-
nition for these schools
that failed to adhere to
official regulations con-
cerning the admission of
underprivileged children
under RTI.
The scheme mandated
that 25 percent of seats be
reserved for needy chil-
dren but Jaipur’s 24 pri-
vate schools violated this.
This cancellation of rec-
ognition comes after re-
peated reminders and
warning letters were sent
to the schools, to which
they failed to respond.

One of focal issues was
Presidency of G -20

now and will be taken
over by Brazil and South
Africa in 2024 and 2025
respectively. All BRICS
members reaffirmed
importance of G-20 to
continue playing role of

in international economic
and financial cooperation.
It will play a balanced role
between developing and
developed economies
to seek the global
challenges. A successful
hosting of G-20 Summit
and adoption of a joint
communique at Delhi in

for bigger role of Global

held its 15th heads of state
and government summit
in Johannesburg from 22
to 24Aug 2023. It was at-
tended by South African
President Cyril Ramapho-
sa, Chinese President Xi
Jinping, Brazil’s Presi-
dent Luiz Inacio Lula da
Silva and Indian Prime
Minister Narendra Modi
in person and Russian
President Vladimir Putin
who was represented by
his Foreign Minister Ser-
gei Lavrov attended the
Summit virtually. BRICS
as a platform represents
42% of the world popula-
tion, 30% of the world’s
territory, 23% of global
GDP, and around 18% of
world trade. The BRIC
that came into being in
2001 and came to be
known as the BRICS by
addition of South Africa
in 2010 and will become
the BRICS Plus from 01
Jan 2024. The BRICS
started primarily as an
economic pillar, has now
diversified considerably
to include security, health,
science and technology,
culture and civil society.
Role of BRICS has also
been very important in the
context of being a pres-
sure group on the ques-
tion of reform of multilat-
eralism and also on the
question of reform of
global governance institu-
tions. BRICS sees itself as
a bridge between devel-
oping countries and de-
veloped world and takes
up issues which are very
relevant to the developing
countries also known as
‘Global South’.
This was the first in-
person meeting since the
COVID Pandemic in
2019 and Russian inva-
sion of Ukraine in 2022,
an event that has cast a
long shadow not only
over global stability, but
food, fertilizer and fuel
(energy) security. Given
its composition, BRICS
deliberations were per-
ceived to carry a “coun-
ter-western” slant with
the US and EU hoping to
“isolate” Russia over the
conflict with help of
South Africa and some
other invitee countries.
The Summit also had Bra-
zil represented by Luiz
Inácio Lula da Silva Lula
who is known socialist
with anti-western politics
than his predecessor Pres-
ident Bolsonaro.
A total of 44 countries
had shown interest in
joining BRICS and of
these 23 countries applied
for BRICS membership.
China and Russia were in
favour of maximum
members joining the
group but the Indian and
Brazilian view to have
strict parameters for new
membership prevailed
and finally only six mem-
bers were admitted.These
new members that will be
effective from 01 Jan
2024 are:- Argentina,
Ethiopia, Iran, SaudiAra-
bia, Egypt and the United
Arab Emirates. This ex-
pansion is with a hope
that the club of large and
populous emerging econ-
omies will facilitate re-
shape the global order.
The original BRIC mem-
bers had two things in
common: large econo-
mies, and high potential
growth rates.The expand-
ed BRICS-11 is a less co-
herent group as some are
going through crises, oth-
ers are thriving. This
could signal an expansion
of the agenda beyond eco-
nomics”. African coun-
tries were looking to the
BRICS grouping to help
them with infrastructure
and development. This
step has been hailed by all
the BRICS members and
South Africa has clearly
spelt it out that BRICS
Plus is definitely not an
anti-Western platform.
The US and other western
countries remain guarded
about the possibility of
BRICS becoming a new
centre of power but have
the US do not consider
BRICS as a geopolitical
group or a direct threat to
western interests. This
move may make the bloc
stronger but there are
fears that this may en-
hance Chinese influence
in the group.
Other than expansion of
BRICStheotherimportant

mutual agreement to deal
withterrorism,multilateral
reforms, digital economy,
trade and food security.All
members agreed on the re-
forms to be carried out at

deliberations among the
emerging market econo-
mies, leaders agreed on
plans to accelerate growth
and sustainable develop-
ment for member states.

flict did not appear as any
controversial issue and nor

The BJP on Wednesday
flagged a 2008 MoU be-
tween the Congress and
Chinese Community
Party to target Rahul
Gandhi, asking if the
agreement required him
to work against India’s
interests and to hurt the
morale of Indian forces.
BJP’s Gaurav Bhatia’s
attack came hours after
Gandhi reiterated his
charge that PM Modi’s
assertion during the early
weeks of the Ladakh
standoff that China had
not captured any part of
Indian territory was an
“absolute lie”. “The
whole of Ladakh knows
that China has usurped
our land,” said Gandhi.
Bhatia said China cap-
tured over 43,000 sq km
of Indian land when
Jawaharlal Nehru was
PM and asked if Gandhi
believed the Congress
leader his great grand-
father was a “traitor”.

New Delhi: Union
Minister Pralhad
Joshi on Wednes-
day flayed Rahul Gandhi
for claiming that China has
usurped India’s land and
accused him of making
“baseless allegations”.
China grabbed India’s
land during the Jawaharlal
Nehru’s tenure as prime
minister, he said. Joshi’s
reaction came after Gandhi
termed as “very serious”
the issue of China releas-
ing a “standard map” that
laid claim over Arunachal
Pradesh and Aksai Chin,
and claimed the neighbour-
ing country has already
taken India’s land in
Ladakh and Prime Minister
Narendra Modi should
speak on the issue. “Rahul
Gandhi’s allegations are
baseless,” Union Minister
Pralhad Joshi told PTI.
Union Minister Pralhad
Joshi on Wednesday also
said that Congress MP Ra-
hul Gandhi has more faith
in what China states rather
than in his own country’s
foreign ministry and de-
fence ministry personnel.

New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul
Gandhi on Wednesday termed
as “very serious” the issue of
China releasing a “standard map” that laid
claim over Arunachal Pradesh and Aksai
Chin, saying the neighbouring country
had already taken India’s land in Ladakh.
Gandhi told reporters, “This map issue is
very serious but they have already taken
away our land and the PM should say
something about that too,” he said.
New Delhi: Senior advocate
Kapil Sibal on Wednesday said
that China asserting a claim on
Arunachal Pradesh is ‘not a new thing’.
“We already know that the Aksai Chin has
been under China for many years...That
is not a new thing...China’s claim on some
portions of Arunachal Pradesh is also not
a new thing,” Kapil Sibal said adding that
EAM himself has said that China is a big-

Union Education Minis-

on Wednesday said that
Prime Minister Narendra

the women of the coun-

of the LPG cylinder.
Effective from
Wednesday, the price of
a 14.2 kg LPG cylinder
will be reduced by Rs

In Delhi, for instance,
the decision will bring
down the cost of a 14.2
kg cylinder from the ex-
isting Rs 1,103 per cyl-
inder to Rs 903.
The Centre had on
Tuesday announced a re-
duction in the prices of
cooking gas by Rs 200
per cylinder.
The government called
it a gift to the “sisters” of
the country so as to make
the lives of the women in
the country comfortable
while on the contrary, the
Opposition was quick to
label the move as a ‘po-
litical gimmick’.
PM Modi earlier said
that the reduction in

Hurricane Idalia slammed
into northwest Florida as
an“extremelydangerous”
Category 3 storm early
Wednesday, as officials
warned of catastrophic
impacts including storm
surges of up to 16 feet
(about five meters).
Authorities in the
southern US state de-
scribed Idalia and its po-

ing waters as a once-in-a-

da’s northwest coast, or-
dering mass evacuations

More than 330,000

water covered streets

moved inland, high
winds shredded signs,
sent sheet metal flying
and snapped tall trees.
“We have multiple

posted the fire and res-
cue department on the
island of Cedar Key,
where a tide gauge
measured the storm
surge at 6.8 feet (2 me-
ters) — enough to sub-
merge most of the down-
town. “We have propane
tanks blowing up all
over the island.”
Idalia came ashore in
the lightly populated Big
Bend region, where the
Florida Panhandle curves
into the peninsula. It
made landfall near Kea-

New York: A rare blue supermoon

JLN MARG ROW
200 feet strip on JLN Marg continues to be contentious

Jaipur
he unresolved
matter of 200
feet strip on
both sides of Jawaharlal
Nehru Marg continues to
be a contentious issue af-
ter 23 years. Despite its
significance, the issue
has been repeatedly ig-
nored, raising questions
about its fate.
JDA’s coffers may be
filled with Rs 1000 crore
if the issue is resolved.
The strip located on
both sides of the JLN
road, which goes to
Jaipur International Air-
port, has remained unu-
tilized.
Despite the govern-
ment’s intention to de-
velop this stretch, little
progress has been made.
The Urban Develop-
ment and Housing de-
partment had issued a
regulation policy for
colonies on both sides of
Jawaharlal Nehru Marg
in 2002.
It mandated a 200 feet
strip on both sides of the
road from Mahaveer
garden to Jawahar circle.
Mahalaxmi Nagar,
Gokul Vatika, Kala Col-
ony, Shakti Nagar, Adi-
nath Nagar are among
the colonies which have
been regularized. Out of
the dedicated land, JDA
allotted land to Fortis
Hospital, World Trade
Park and Genpect but
colonies like Shri Vihar,
Panchsheel Enclave, Lal
Bahadur Nagar etc. have
not been regulated yet.
Taking advantage of
this, there are efforts to
encroach the land. Com-
plaints regarding people
occupying the land of
this strip are often re-
ceived in JDA.
Recently, a case of oc-
cupation of 12 thousand
square yards of land in
this strip under
Panchsheel Enclave
came to light following
which the JDA removed
the encroachment from
there.
Town planning ex-
perts propose a compre-
hensive plan to address
this issue. The experts
suggest that a concrete
and clear plan should be
made for the dedicated
land while focusing on
commercial use.
Experts estimate that
by implementing the
measures, JDAcould ac-
quire between 50,000 to
70,000 square meters of
land, potentially gener-
ating over Rs 1,000
crores in revenue from
auctions.

s we celebrate the
auspicious festival of
Raksha Bandhan, the
markets are adorned
with an array of vi-
brant and meaningful
rakhis, symbolizing
the unbreakable bond between brothers
and sisters. In recent years, a unique
and eco-friendly trend has emerged in
the realm of rakhis – those crafted from
cow dung. This innovative approach
not only honours the sacredness of the
cow in Indian culture but also carries a
deeper significance that resonates with
both tradition and sustainability.
In the heart of Jaipur, at the Sunrise
Organic Park within the sprawling Pin-
jrapole Gaushala, a renowned institu-
tion dedicated to the care of cows, a
remarkable transformation is taking
place. For the past few years, artisans
at the Sunrise Organic Park have been
fashioning rakhis out of cow dung, in-
fusing this age-old custom with new
vitality and meaning. These cow dung
rakhis have captured the attention of
people not just across the country, but
also abroad, drawing admiration for
their uniqueness and purpose.
Sangeeta Gaur, the national president
of the women's division of theAssocia-
tion, stated, In the upcoming year, cow
dung rakhis are set to draw significant
attention, not solely within India but
also beyond its borders. These distinc-
tive rakhis originate from the indige-
nous cow dung sourced from the Sun-
rise Organic Park situated within the
expansive Sripinjrapole Gaushala com-
plex. Our women's unit has taken the
initiative to export these herbal rakhis,
crafted using cow dung and seeds, for
Raksha Bandhan. This endeavour aims
to symbolize the sacred bond between
siblings, extending its significance to
Indians residing abroad.
The InternationalAdvancedAgricul-
tural Skills Development Institute, lo-
cated at the Sunrise Organic Park, has
taken the initiative to create these dis-
tinctive rakhis. By using cow dung, a
material revered for its sacred connota-
tions, and incorporating seeds, these
rakhis encapsulate more than just a
simple thread-tying ritual. The sym-
bolic essence of the cow, considered a
motherly figure in Indian culture, is
interwoven into these rakhis, making
them a conduit for blessings and well-
wishes.
What sets these rakhis apart is not
only their spiritual significance but also
their visual appeal and affordability.
While cow dung rakhis may sound un-
conventional, they are indeed aestheti-
cally pleasing and charming in their
way. Furthermore, their cost is lower
compared to the market alternatives,
making them an attractive choice for
consumers seeking a meaningful yet
budget-friendly option.
The making of these rakhis also
holds a heartening story of empower-
ment and community support. The
women of the Mata Rani Self-Help
Group, operating under the Hahne-
mann Charitable Mission Society, are
the driving force behind the creation of
these rakhis. With financial backing
from society, these women have taken
it upon themselves to contribute to
their families' livelihoods while up-
holding the cherished values associat-
ed with the festival.
A unique aspect of these cow dung
rakhis lies in their ecological mindful-
ness. Recognizing that traditional ra-
khis often end up as waste after the
festive fervour wanes, these rakhis are
designed to be more than just a fleeting
ornament. By infusing seeds into the
cow dung material, the creators have
ingeniously transformed the rakhi into
a living token of affection. Once the
festivities conclude, these rakhis can
be carefully placed in pots, allowing
the embedded seeds to sprout into vi-
brant plants. This
transformation is a
beautiful representa-
tion of growth, echo-
ing the very essence
of relationships.
What makes
cow dung rakhis
even more remarkable is their embod-
iment of the 'reduce, reuse, and recy-
cle' philosophy. The incorporation of
seeds within these rakhis serves a dual
purpose. Once the festivities conclude,
these rakhis can be planted, and the
seeds within them sprout into plants.
This simple yet ingenious feature en-
sures that the rakhi, typically discard-
ed after a few days, becomes
a living testament to the
celebration – a true embod-
iment of growth
and continuity.
The emergence of organic rakhis,
particularly those made from cow
dung, is indicative of a broader shift in
consumer preferences. People are in-
creasingly seeking products that align
with their values and have a positive
impact on the environment. Cow dung
rakhis cater to this sentiment by com-
bining tradition with sustainability.
Furthermore, their aesthetic appeal and
cost-effectiveness make them a viable
alternative to conventional rakhis.
SacredThread,
SustainableGesture
The rise of organic cow dung rakhis is a testament to the power of innovation and the fusion of tradition with sustainability.
It signifies a conscious effort to harmonize cultural practices with environmental responsibility. We at City First embrace these
eco-friendly rakhis, they not only honour the age-old sibling bond but also contribute to a greener and more mindful world!

CM GEHLOT SPEAKS TO PRESS CORRUPTION IS RAMPANT IN THE JUDICIARY, STRESSES CM CM ASHOK GEHLOT WITH A TEAM OF DOCTORS FROM SMS HOSPITAL VISITS A PRIVATE DIAGNOSIS CENTRE ON WEDNESDAY NOON TO GET HIS TOE EXAMINED Vikas Sharma Jaipur hief Minister Ashok Gehlot visited a private diagnosis centre on Wednesday afternoon where the CM got his toe examined. During this time, the team of doctors from SMS Hospital was also present. After the check-up, CM talked to the media during which Gehlot fiercely attacked Modi government. CM said that no relief is being given by Central Govern- ment, instead election gimmicks are being ad- opted. “The central gov- ernment can do anything for elections. The reality is that the central govern- ment is coming on the backfoot. We are all set for the elections. Recent- ly, in a program the PM got my name removed from the speech, still I at- tended the program. Con- gress is going to form the govt once again in Rajas- than. Opposition has no issue at all on the basis of which it can seek votes from public,” he said. Gehlot has made alle- gations of corruption in court and claimed that the decisions are written through lawyers. “Today there is a lot of corruption happening in judiciary. I have heard that many lawyers take judgment in writing in court and it is that judgement that is passed by court. What is this happening in the ju- diciary? Be it lower judi- ciary or upper, situation is serious. Countrymen must think,” he said. All BRICS members reaffirmed importance of G-20 to continue playing role of premier multilateral forum in international economic and financial cooperation. It will play a balanced role between developing and developed economies to seek the global challenges. A successful hosting of G-20 Summit and adoption of a joint communique at Delhi in Sep 2023 will pave way for bigger role of Global South in world affairs. MAJOR OUTCOME OF JOHANNESBURG SUMMIT BRICSTURNSINTOBRICSPLUS Col Rajesh Bhukar ThewriterisaPostGraduate inInternationalStudies, AlumniofDefenceServices StaffCollege,Wellingtonand CollegeofCombat,Mhow he BRICS group of m a j o r emerging economies - Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa - held its 15th heads of state and government summit in Johannesburg from 22 to 24Aug 2023. It was at- tended by South African President Cyril Ramapho- sa, Chinese President Xi Jinping, Brazil’s Presi- dent Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in person and Russian President Vladimir Putin who was represented by his Foreign Minister Ser- gei Lavrov attended the Summit virtually. BRICS as a platform represents 42% of the world popula- tion, 30% of the world’s territory, 23% of global GDP, and around 18% of world trade. The BRIC that came into being in 2001 and came to be known as the BRICS by addition of South Africa in 2010 and will become the BRICS Plus from 01 Jan 2024. The BRICS started primarily as an economic pillar, has now diversified considerably to include security, health, science and technology, culture and civil society. Role of BRICS has also been very important in the context of being a pres- sure group on the ques- tion of reform of multilat- eralism and also on the question of reform of global governance institu- tions. BRICS sees itself as a bridge between devel- oping countries and de- veloped world and takes up issues which are very relevant to the developing countries also known as ‘Global South’. This was the first in- person meeting since the COVID Pandemic in 2019 and Russian inva- sion of Ukraine in 2022, an event that has cast a long shadow not only over global stability, but food, fertilizer and fuel (energy) security. Given its composition, BRICS deliberations were per- ceived to carry a “coun- ter-western” slant with the US and EU hoping to “isolate” Russia over the conflict with help of South Africa and some other invitee countries. The Summit also had Bra- zil represented by Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva Lula who is known socialist with anti-western politics than his predecessor Pres- ident Bolsonaro. A total of 44 countries had shown interest in joining BRICS and of these 23 countries applied for BRICS membership. China and Russia were in favour of maximum members joining the group but the Indian and Brazilian view to have strict parameters for new membership prevailed and finally only six mem- bers were admitted. These new members that will be effective from 01 Jan 2024 are:- Argentina, Ethiopia, Iran, SaudiAra- bia, Egypt and the United Arab Emirates. This ex- pansion is with a hope that the club of large and populous emerging econ- omies will facilitate re- shape the global order. The original BRIC mem- bers had two things in common: large econo- mies, and high potential growth rates. The expand- ed BRICS-11 is a less co- herent group as some are going through crises, oth- ers are thriving. This could signal an expansion of the agenda beyond eco- nomics”. African coun- tries were looking to the BRICS grouping to help them with infrastructure and development. This step has been hailed by all the BRICS members and South Africa has clearly spelt it out that BRICS Plus is definitely not an anti-Western platform. The US and other western countries remain guarded about the possibility of BRICS becoming a new centre of power but have the US do not consider BRICS as a geopolitical group or a direct threat to western interests. This move may make the bloc stronger but there are fears that this may en- hance Chinese influence in the group. Other than expansion of BRICStheotherimportant eventsandoutcomeswere, mutual agreement to deal withterrorism, multilateral reforms, digital economy, trade and food security. All members agreed on the re- forms to be carried out at UNtoreflectmodernpow- er realities. After extensive deliberations among the emerging market econo- mies, leaders agreed on plans to accelerate growth and sustainable develop- ment for member states. The Johannesburg Decla- ration 2 calls for the peace- ful resolution to global conflicts, especiallycalling for diplomatic talks to re- solve the crisis in Niger, Libya, aceasefireinSudan and furtherance of middle east peace process. The declaration highlighted the mutuallybeneficialBRICS cooperationunderthethree pillarsofpoliticalandsecu- rity, economic and finan- cial, and cultural and peo- ple-to-people cooperation and to enhancing strategic partnership for the benefit of people through the pro- motion of peace, a more representative, fairer inter- national order, a reinvigor- atedandreformedmultilat- eral system, sustainable developmentandinclusive growth. The Ukraine con- flict did not appear as any controversial issue and nor were there any direct ad- verse references to US or westernnationsinthereso- lution. There was unani- mous agreement on en- hanced role of the BRICS Contingent Reserve Ar- rangement (CRA) and the New Development Bank (NDB) for enhanced mu- tual cooperation in finan- cial sectors. State Congress President Govind Singh Dotasra said that BJP’s Chardisha Parivartan Yatra is a yatra for change of leadership of state BJP, but it will be a super fail- ure. JLN MARG ROW 200 feet strip on JLN Marg continues to be contentious Abhishek Shrivastava Jaipur he unresolved matter of 200 feet strip on both sides of Jawaharlal Nehru Marg continues to be a contentious issue af- ter 23 years. Despite its significance, the issue has been repeatedly ig- nored, raising questions about its fate. JDA’s coffers may be filled with Rs 1000 crore if the issue is resolved. The strip located on both sides of the JLN road, which goes to Jaipur International Air- port, has remained unu- tilized. Despite the govern- ment’s intention to de- velop this stretch, little progress has been made. The Urban Develop- ment and Housing de- partment had issued a regulation policy for colonies on both sides of Jawaharlal Nehru Marg in 2002. It mandated a 200 feet strip on both sides of the road from Mahaveer garden to Jawahar circle. Mahalaxmi Nagar, Gokul Vatika, Kala Col- ony, Shakti Nagar, Adi- nath Nagar are among the colonies which have been regularized. Out of the dedicated land, JDA allotted land to Fortis Hospital, World Trade Park and Genpect but colonies like Shri Vihar, Panchsheel Enclave, Lal Bahadur Nagar etc. have not been regulated yet. Taking advantage of this, there are efforts to encroach the land. Com- plaints regarding people occupying the land of this strip are often re- ceived in JDA. Recently, a case of oc- cupation of 12 thousand square yards of land in this strip under Panchsheel Enclave came to light following which the JDA removed the encroachment from there. Town planning ex- perts propose a compre- hensive plan to address this issue. The experts suggest that a concrete and clear plan should be made for the dedicated land while focusing on commercial use. Experts estimate that by implementing the measures, JDAcould ac- quire between 50,000 to 70,000 square meters of land, potentially gener- ating over Rs 1,000 crores in revenue from auctions. • 11. Your Page JAIPUR, THURSDAY | AUGUST 31, 2023 10 firstindia.co.in firstindia.co.in/epapers/jaipur thefirstindia thefirstindia thefirstindia s we celebrate the auspicious festival of Raksha Bandhan, the markets are adorned with an array of vi- brant and meaningful rakhis, symbolizing the unbreakable bond between brothers and sisters. In recent years, a unique and eco-friendly trend has emerged in the realm of rakhis – those crafted from cow dung. This innovative approach not only honours the sacredness of the cow in Indian culture but also carries a deeper significance that resonates with both tradition and sustainability. In the heart of Jaipur, at the Sunrise Organic Park within the sprawling Pin- jrapole Gaushala, a renowned institu- tion dedicated to the care of cows, a remarkable transformation is taking place. For the past few years, artisans at the Sunrise Organic Park have been fashioning rakhis out of cow dung, in- fusing this age-old custom with new vitality and meaning. These cow dung rakhis have captured the attention of people not just across the country, but also abroad, drawing admiration for their uniqueness and purpose. Sangeeta Gaur, the national president of the women's division of theAssocia- tion, stated, In the upcoming year, cow dung rakhis are set to draw significant attention, not solely within India but also beyond its borders. These distinc- tive rakhis originate from the indige- nous cow dung sourced from the Sun- rise Organic Park situated within the expansive Sripinjrapole Gaushala com- plex. Our women's unit has taken the initiative to export these herbal rakhis, crafted using cow dung and seeds, for Raksha Bandhan. This endeavour aims to symbolize the sacred bond between siblings, extending its significance to Indians residing abroad. The InternationalAdvancedAgricul- tural Skills Development Institute, lo- cated at the Sunrise Organic Park, has taken the initiative to create these dis- tinctive rakhis. By using cow dung, a material revered for its sacred connota- tions, and incorporating seeds, these rakhis encapsulate more than just a simple thread-tying ritual. The sym- bolic essence of the cow, considered a motherly figure in Indian culture, is interwoven into these rakhis, making them a conduit for blessings and well- wishes. What sets these rakhis apart is not only their spiritual significance but also their visual appeal and affordability. While cow dung rakhis may sound un- conventional, they are indeed aestheti- cally pleasing and charming in their way. Furthermore, their cost is lower compared to the market alternatives, making them an attractive choice for consumers seeking a meaningful yet budget-friendly option. The making of these rakhis also holds a heartening story of empower- ment and community support. The women of the Mata Rani Self-Help Group, operating under the Hahne- mann Charitable Mission Society, are the driving force behind the creation of these rakhis. With financial backing from society, these women have taken it upon themselves to contribute to their families' livelihoods while up- holding the cherished values associat- ed with the festival. A unique aspect of these cow dung rakhis lies in their ecological mindful- ness. Recognizing that traditional ra- khis often end up as waste after the festive fervour wanes, these rakhis are designed to be more than just a fleeting ornament. By infusing seeds into the cow dung material, the creators have ingeniously transformed the rakhi into a living token of affection. Once the festivities conclude, these rakhis can be carefully placed in pots, allowing the embedded seeds to sprout into vi- brant plants. This transformation is a beautiful representa- tion of growth, echo- ing the very essence of relationships. What makes cow dung rakhis even more remarkable is their embod- iment of the 'reduce, reuse, and recy- cle' philosophy. The incorporation of seeds within these rakhis serves a dual purpose. Once the festivities conclude, these rakhis can be planted, and the seeds within them sprout into plants. This simple yet ingenious feature en- sures that the rakhi, typically discard- ed after a few days, becomes a living testament to the celebration – a true embod- iment of growth and continuity. The emergence of organic rakhis, particularly those made from cow dung, is indicative of a broader shift in consumer preferences. People are in- creasingly seeking products that align with their values and have a positive impact on the environment. Cow dung rakhis cater to this sentiment by com- bining tradition with sustainability. Furthermore, their aesthetic appeal and cost-effectiveness make them a viable alternative to conventional rakhis. SacredThread, SustainableGesture The rise of organic cow dung rakhis is a testament to the power of innovation and the fusion of tradition with sustainability. It signifies a conscious effort to harmonize cultural practices with environmental responsibility. We at City First embrace these eco-friendly rakhis, they not only honour the age-old sibling bond but also contribute to a greener and more mindful world!
