CM GEHLOT PRAYS AT RATANADA GANESH TEMPLE
Jodhpur: Chief Minister Ashok
Gehlot, who was on a three-day visit
to Jodhpur, visited Ratanada Ganesh
temple on the occasion of Ganesh
Chaturthi on Wednesday and offered
prayers and wished prosperity in
the state. While talking to the media,
Gehlot said that lord Ganesha is con-
sidered to be the first revered deity
and Bal Gangadhar Tilak had started
Ganesh festival to give freedom
to the country. “I have wished for
prosperity in the state,” he said.

‘DILAPIDATED TEMPLES WILL BE RENOVATED SOON IN KOTA’
Kota: On the occasion of Ganesh
Chaturthi, Min of UDH Shanti Dha-
riwal took part in various religious
programs in Kota. While speaking
to media during a program at Kedli
Phatak here, Dhariwal informed that
dilapidated temples of Kota will be
renovated soon. “Nearly 50 temples
have been renovated in Kota North
alone. Work is being done with public
cooperation,” said Dhariwal.

broken plaster of Paris Ganesha
idols lying scattered at river banks
after Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations,
a man here is making 500 clay
sculptures of Ganesha that he will be
distributing for free. The 10-day-long
festival of Ganesh Chaturthi began
on Wednesday. Nimish Gautam, 25,
claimed he distributed at least 250
Ganesha idols last year as well.

Jaipur: The return of
Ajitabh Sharma to
Jaipur, posting accord-
ed to APO Rohit Gupta,
and new appointments
being made on the posts
of MD and Mission Di-
rectors of Skill Devel-
opment Corporation,
NHM and Jal Jeevan
Mission are some of the
highlights of the trans-
fer list issued late on
Saturday night. In the
comparatively small
list of merely 10 names,
Sikar Collector has also
been removed.
Undergoing his 6th
transfer in the current
government, the 1996
batch IAS Ajitabh Shar-
ma was appointed as
Chairman of Tax Board
merely 4 months back
and has now been given
the responsibility of
City Bus Transport in
Jaipur. Ajitabh is a na-
tive of Jaipur and hence
has a special interest in
the development and
progress of the city.
How he bettered the
work of Metro, in the
same manner, it is ex-
pected that he will bet-
ter the bad situation
prevailing in the Bus
Transport system.
2006 batch IAS Rohit
Gupta has been promot-
ed to the rank of Secre-
tary 8 months back, but
despite this, the state
government has given
him a jump and ap-
pointed him as Secre-
tary, Finance (Budget).
Rohit, who has served
as Collector in 6 dis-
tricts, has been trusted
by the government and
as such he is a result-
oriented officer.
In its issue dated Au-
gust 21, First India had
raised the issue of full-
time MD of Skill Devel-
opment Corporation
(RSLDC) as the work is
getting affected. Now
the state government
has appointed Renu
Jaipal as full-time MD.
Similarly, Sudheer
Kumar is Mission Di-
rector of NHM and Avi-
chal Chaturvedi is Mis-
sion Director of Jal
Jeevan Mission, but ap-
pointing them this late,
the DoP has shown its
lackadaisical approach.
Avichal is fifth Mission
Director of Jal Jeevan
Mission and has a
mountain of challenges
before him.
Avichalhaddonegood
work as Sikar Collector
and despite the political
tussle and groupism of
politicians in the dis-
trict, he played a two-
year-long inning, which
is a major achievement.
Unfortunately, the re-
cent incident during the
Khatushyamji fair re-
sultedinhimbeingoust-
ed and now a 2016 batch
IAS Amit Yadav has
been appointed Collec-
tor of Sikar.
Saturday’s transfer
list appears to be half
addressing the issue as
even today, officials are
carrying out the addi-
tional charge of about
one dozen major de-
partments. It was hoped
that this list would have
lessened that burden,
but it wasn’t the case,
the next transfer list is
now due which can be
released anytime now.
Notably, while there
are officers, who are be-
ing transferred time
and again, there are
three officers, who have
been perched comfort-
ably, for over two years,
on the same post. These
are Vaibhav Galriya (34
months), Anand Kumar
(25 months) and Muk-
tanand Agrawal (25
months). After them
comes Hemant Gera,
who has completed 22
months and although
Praveen Gupta and
Krishna Kunal too have
been serving on their
current assignments
for two years, their ten-
ure falls under the Elec-
tion Commission.
DoP tries to fill gaps and makes a half-hearted attempt!

n event was organ-
ised by Bharatiya
Shikshan Mandal
and Research for Re-
surgence Foundation
in 2018 titled Educa-
tion for Resurgence
and it was a Vice-Chancellors’
conference. We were keen on
inviting PM Modi and it was an
honour for us when he agreed
to attend the event. I was the
President of the Bharatiya Shi-
kshan Mandal Organising com-
mittee and on the day of the
event as we all moved to greet
and welcome him, I was taken
aback when he addressed me by
my first name and said “How
are you doing Sachidanandji?”
I knew how well-read and aware
PM Modi is, how well-prepared
he is every time he goes out for
some event, but when he ad-
dresses a common man such as
me with his name, it comes
across as most remarkable and
induces a sense of importance
in the listener.
While we were walking to-
wards the hall, he enquired
about the well-being of Raiji and
remarked with such accuracy
“Raiji complains of stomach
problems. He does not look after
himself much so the onus lies on
you all to take good care of him.”
It is amazing how PM Modi
cares to remember such minute
details about people and their
problems and this, to me, was an
eye-opener about the greatness
of Modiji as a leader. And not
just this, he is genuinely wor-
ried about people. It is not
a superficial concern that
he shows randomly
, in fact
far from that. He is deeply
aware of even the personal
problems that people are
facing and there is such
sincerity and conviction
in his voice that one feels
really cared for in his
presence.
The arrangement in
that meeting was such
that I had the honour of
being seated just next to
him. It gave me the oppor-
tunity to converse with
him and it was an out-of-
the-world experience for
all of us to be able to dis-
cuss the finer details
with him, to listen to all the
speakers and then gain an in-
sightintothesubjectbylistening
in to what PM Modi had to say
about it.
We could see for ourselves that
PM Modi is an extremely keen
observerandallhisobservations
are well-articulated profundities
about the subject at hand. He de-
voted an hour and a half of his
precious time in that event at the
end of which he delivered an
electrifying speech which com-
pletely charged the audience.
After a few days I got a call
from the Publication Depart-
ment saying that they wanted to
publish PM Modi’s speech and
that they were sending in a pan-
el of experts for a meeting with
him. I happened to be part of
the panel and then in a few days,
Director General Dr Rao called
me up to say that I had been cho-
sen along with Mr Kanchan
Gupta to edit and publish the
compendium of speeches. Kan-
chanji then spoke with me and
said that we would have to meet
PM Modi regarding the same.
We were asked to meet Modiji in
Lok Sabha and after a little wait
we were ushered in to meet him
in his room. What struck me as
extraordinary was that there
was not a single piece of paper
on his table and his demeanour
showed as if he had been wait-
ing for us. The point is that be-
ing the PM and that too in the
middle of the parliamentary
session, he could have been
deeply engrossed in his work at
that time as well. But the fact
that he chose to remain com-
pletely free for us showed his
concern for us and the ability to
give importance to even ordi-
nary people. Not just this, PM
Modi gave us the greatest and
the most credible certificate of
our hard work when he gave a
pat on his back and said “What
a wonderful event it was! Your
hard work is truly commenda-
ble. I am sure you must have got
a backache working for such
long hours at a stretch! This
work was not easy at all but you
all made it look so simple by
your dedication.”
Modiji is a perfectionist par
excellence and his generous
appreciation of our work
meant the world to us. Where
our imagination ends, his be-
gins. Therefore we had been
exceedingly careful about cu-
rating the entire program with
perfection and we had indeed
put in a lot of effort in the de-
signing of the event. Then he
said that we must continue our
hard work for the upcoming
events in the next 5 years.
The first book we published
was titled “Sabka Saath Sabka
Vikas” and he said that the forth-
comingcompilationwillbetitled
Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas Sabka
Vishwas. There was another pro-
ject for which I had to make a
45-minute online presentation to
him and was told that Modiji
would connect from his office in
Lok Sabha. As I began speaking,
I somehow got deeply engrossed
in the content so much so that I
ended up taking a long time.
When I apologized to Modiji, he
immediately asked me to con-
tinue and said that he was listen-
ing. Well, he was not just listen-
ing. He had gone deep into the
intricacies of the presentation
and each and every detail was
clearly etched in his mind. The
points that he raised after the
discussion were simply the re-
flection of a genius mind. Only
someone with immeasurable fo-
cus, patience and grasp over
things could come up with such
ingenious ideas and suggestions
post presentation. And that too
when the project was simply at a
conceptual stage. He then gave
the go ahead for the project!
Then, on 13th August I got a
call saying that a very impor-
tant guest would be coming to
meet me on the 15th. I began to
panic how and when I would
make preparations for this very
special person, who was none
other than Modiji. And do you
know what was the first sen-
tence he spoke when he stepped
out of his car on 15th August?
He said “Apologies Sachidan-
andji for making you wait for
me this long!”
As I accompanied him on his
tourtothepremises,hecontinued
tolistenintentlyaboutallthepro-
jects and asked numerous ques-
tions while at the same time en-
couraging me to keep up the good
work! I have been touched by the
PM’s benevolence of spirit, his
immenseloveandvastrepertoire
of knowledge on various occa-
sions. He is indeed a rare gem of
a human being!

Modiji has every
single element of
the universe bal-
anced in such a su-
per human way
that astuteness in
statesmanship becomes his sec-

to the readers how Modiji has
complete control over human na-
ture and his razor sharp intelli-
gence, infinite wisdom, emotion-
al intelligence and deep knowl-
edge, make him the genius who
is loved, followed and revered by
not just the nation but the world.
Modiji’s personality is multi-
faceted. With children, he as-
sumes the persona of a child.
With adults, he knows which
aspect of his personality to
bring to the front to make the
best out of a situation. When in-
teracting with him, one never
feels one is trying to establish a
connection with the unattaina-
ble. He is extremely welcoming
and responsive and never makes
one feel that one is trying to con-
verse with somebody unap-
proachable. He is ever open to
suggestions and we never hesi-
tate to talk our ideas out with
him. Modiji is always super re-
ceptive to ideation with out-of-
the-box thinking being his forte.
He has the knack of making any
conversation lively and cheery
by responding and reacting to
each and every idea.
In 1983, my father left us
for his heavenly abode but
Modiji’s presence was so
powerful and embracing
that I never felt I did not
have my father around me
or that there was none any
more to care about me. In
1987, I became CA. In 1988,
I got my office renovated.
Now office renovation is
no big deal but at a per-
sonal level, I was made to
feel extremely special by
the presence of Modiji
and all my colleagues at
the function I had organ-
ized. When people make
it a point to lend their
support at events such as
these, life becomes so much hap-
pier and inspiring. Well, I got
married in 1989. It came as a sur-
prise for me that the business-
men meet was decided to be held
in the same city as that of my
wedding venue to make it con-
venient for everyone to attend
the function. So not for once did
I feel that I was alone or that my
father wasn’t there.
An interesting incident that I
would like to share is from the
time when I was in-charge of the
computer centre in 2002. I was
also handling work pertaining to
electronic media. It was the first
time that Modiji was contesting
an election. First he became CM
and then in six months he had to
get elected and he decided to
fight from Rajkot. Since it was a
high profile election, people
from all over Gujarat were ex-
pected and we wanted to make
use of this opportunity
. We built
a writeup and 15 to 20 of us did
our groundwork and shared our
thoughts with Modiji. But as we
all know, Modiji, has a different
and varied perspective to every-
thing and he gave us eye-opening
suggestions about how we could
use the presence of a huge gath-
ering to our advantage. As we
had figured out that those part of
the event would certainly have
relatives and friends wanting to
support Modiji, we decided to tap
that potential. Eventually we
made lists of all the people who
would vote for Modiji as suggest-
ed by the attendees, and then we
monitored them throughout.
An interesting aspect that
came out of this event was when
we came up with the idea of re-
cording an IVR kind of message
by Modiji. It was a simple but ex-
tremely effective message as in
those days technology was not so
advanced and nothing like this
had been done earlier. We got a
highqualityvoicerecordingdone
with automatic dialing features,
and got all the STDs and PCOs to
work towards this campaign. It
turned out to be fantastic and
people were elated to receive calls
saying “Hello, It is me, Narendra
Modi. This election is very im-
portant…” in Gujarati and an
instant bond was created with
ourvoterbase.Thecampaigncre-
ated a kind of a stir in the circles
and people were thrilled with the
newness of the idea.
Not just this, Modiji because
of his futuristic vision, asked me
to figure out a way to share his
message across to all the stake-
holders at once. Every Saturday
or Sunday he would come to Ra-
jkot but in two days how many
meetings could he be present
for? He suggested we record a
video of his message and buy
VCD players for each of the 18
wards in which the recording
could be played to the people.
Modiji always thinks ahead of
time and his ideas strike a cord
with the people because of their
innovativeness. This is the rea-
son why people connect more
and more with Modiji.
In February, my wife, daugh-
ter and I went to meet Modiji.
One knows immediately that you
are standing in front of a great
leader when he addresses you
with first name. And this is how
Modiji is! He always begins the
interaction with “How are you?
How is your mother? Hope you
didn’t face any problem during
COVID!” Meeting him is like
meeting a family member and
there is nothing formal about it.
I am into micro-finance and I
shared with him a few ideas that
I was planning for Gujarat and
said that we must implement the
idea all over India. Immediately
he took interest in the sugges-
tions and responded positively
.
Last but not least, Modiji is the
perfect Management Guru. He is
a master delegator as he knows
exactly who has the potential to
successfully complete a particu-
lar work. He also ensures that all
the IAS officers, who possess
deep knowledge about the func-
tioning of the country, work
hard towards the development
of the nation. He does not limit
his reach only to the party mem-
bers, but takes everyone along to
work for progress. Another ob-
servation that I have made is that
if you show him something on a
paper, he never touches it. He
will ask you to explain every-
thing orally and will come up
with the solution there and then,
leaving nothing for the future.
All I can say is that he is a master
of Monkey Theory and he uses it
for maximum benefit.

tions to the nation” and

brance post. Various

reports. The Ahmedabad
Municipal Corporation, or

New Delhi: The Supreme Court has agreed to examine

allowing access to crucial statements
recorded under Section 164 CrPC to the
rape accused despite the charge sheet
not being filed in the matter. A bench
of Chief Justice of India UU Lalit and

notice to Telangana state and listed the
matter for September 26.
New Delhi: The Delhi Police of Wednesday informed that a

Manish Tewari questions
fairness of the process
New Delhi: Congress
MP Manish Tewari has
questioned the fairness
of Congress president
polls set to be held on
October 17 as the elec-
toral roll is not availa-
ble to the public. “Why
should someone have to
go to every PCC office
in the country to find
out who the electors
are,” he asked.
In a series of tweets,
Manish Tewari said,
“How can there be a fair
and free election with-
out a publicly available
electoral roll? Essence
of a fair and free pro-
cess is that names and
addresses of electors
must be published on
the INC website in a
transparent manner.”
The senior leader
was responding to party
election authority chief
Madhusudan Mistry,
who had claimed that
the process to elect the
next Congress chief
would be a fair one.
Mistry had said in an
article that if a member
wants to check the list
of delegates, they can
visit PCC office and the
list will be given to can-
didates once they file
their nominations.
In response, Tewari
said, “CWC has an-
nounced scheduled of
Congress president
election not for 28
PCC’s and eight TCC’s.
Why should someone
have to go to every PCC
office in the country to
find out who the elec-
tors are? This does not
happen in a club elec-
tion also with great re-
spect. In the interests
of fairness and trans-
parency, I urge your
gods self to publish the
entire list on the INC
website.”
“How can someone
consider running if he/
she does not know who
the electors are?,” he
added.

THAROOR QUALIFIED TO CONTEST FOR
CONGRESS PREZ POLL: KPCC CHIEF
RAGA TO RESOLVE PEOPLE’S ISSUES IN
HIMACHAL, PROMISES FIVE LAKH JOBS
Thiruvananthapuram (PTI): Congress is a demo-
cratic party and its Lok Sabha member Shashi Tha-
roor is qualified to contest for
the party’s presidential election,
KPCC chief K Sudhakaran said
on Wednesday. Sudhakaran
said if Tharoor wishes to con-
test the polls there is no need
to blame him as the Congress
is a democratic party and its
members have the right to contest for the top party
post. “What is there to wonder about? Is he not an
eligible candidate? All the members of the Indian
National Congress have the right to contest as it
is a democratic party. If I wish to contest, I could
also do that. The party will accept it. If I get the
votes, I will win”, Sudhakaran told reporters here,
responding to a query. He said the Congress has
the strength to address such issues through the
democratic process.
New Delhi: Former Congress president Rahul
Gandhi on Wednesday said the party shall keep
its promise of providing five lakh jobs to youths in
Himachal Pradesh as also Rs 1,500 per month to
women and restore the pension scheme in the hill
state if voted to power. “Congress pledge in Devb-
hoomi #HimachalKaSankalp. Old pension scheme
restored. Rs 1500 per month to women. Free
electricity up to 300 units. 5 lakh jobs for youth. Rs
680 crore start-up fund. Like Raj Chhattisgarh,
we will keep our promises. Together we will take
Himachal forward again,” Gandhi said on Twitter.
Is Manish Tewari
searching 'rightousness'
in his 'failed cause'?
Sharat K Verma
New Delhi: Congress
leaderManishTewari
has called the Con-
gress leaders attack-
ing Ghulam Nabi
Azad as peons. Azad
has already described
the leaders associated
with the Congress
high command as
sycophants. Now Ti-
wari has called them
a peon. In a letter to
Sonia Gandhi, Azad
has said that Rahul
Gandhi’s ordinance
tearing became the
biggest reason for the
Congress’s defeat in
2014. But he did not
write that the lan-
guage and arrogance
of leaders like Man-
ish Tewari and Kapil
Sibal also played a big
role. Manish Tewari
had said in a press
conference at the
peak of Anna Haz-
are’s movement that
Anna too is immersed
in corruption from
head to toe.
This statement of
Manish Tewari
proved to be the last
nail in the coffin of
Congress. Similarly,
one of the leaders of
G-23 was Kapil Sibal,
who had given the
theory of zero loss in
the communication
scam. The funny
thing is that after
hammering the nail
in the coffin of the
Congress, Tiwari un-
derstood that the par-
ty was going to lose
badly, so he gave up
from contesting the
elections. He was a
star MP and a star
minister in the Man-
mohan Singh govt but
did not contest the
2014 elections. In the
next election i.e. in
2019, when it was felt
that now the situation
has improved and he
can win, he changed
his seat and fought
from another seat.
That is, he fought
whenever they want-
ed, didn’t fight when-
ever he wanted,
changed seats when-
ever he wanted, but it
all happened because
of his ability and
that’s where other
people get all the
things because of be-
ing a peon! Manish
Tewariwasnotapeon
when he was abusing
Anna Hazare but to-
day if any leader
abuses Azad, then he
or she is being termed
a peon!

the road outside the Sa-
majwadi Party office.
According to the Luc-

makeshift shops on

them to remove the

KCR meets Nitish Kumar, now BJP rival again
New Delhi: In his latest
outreach move aimed at
stitching together an al-
liance of like-minded
parties against the BJP,
Telangana Chief Minis-
ter K Chandrashekar
Rao today met Bihar
Chief Minister Nitish
Kumar and his deputy
Tejashwi Yadav in Pat-
na. The leaders are
scheduled to appear at a
few events before head-
ing for lunch. Rao,
sporting a fedora hat,
posed for pictures whil
being welcomed with
flower bouquets by his
Bihar counterpart and
RJD Chief Yadav. The
three leaders are ex-
pected to discuss na-
tional politics.
BJP leader Sushil Ku-
mar Modi took a dig at
the two Chief Minis-
ters, saying their meet-
ing is a “get-together of
two daydreamers”.
Taking a swipe at the
meeting, Modi, who
was a Deputy Chief
Minister for more than
a decade with Kumar as
the Chief Minister in
the JD(U)-BJP govern-
ment in Bihar, said it is
a meeting of two lead-
ers who are losing their
base in their respective
states and “desiring to
become Prime Minister
of the country”.
“It is a meeting of
two daydreamers who
have no standing in
front of PM Narendra
Modi,” the BJP leader
told reporters.

FISCAL DEFICIT
TOUCHES 20.5% OF
ANNUAL TARGET
New Delhi: The Central Gov-
ernment’s fiscal deficit touched
20.5% of the annual target
at the end of
July 2022-23
against 21.3%
reflecting im-

per data released on Wednes-

deficit - the difference between
expenditure and revenue - was
Rs 3,40,831 cr during April-
July period this financial year.
A fiscal deficit is a reflection of
government borrowings from
the market. The tax revenue
stood at Rs 6.66 lakh cr or
34.4% of this year’s BE. Last
year too, the government had
managed to mop 34.2% of its
annual estimate in April-July.
SONY-ZEE MERGER
CAN HURT
COMPETITION: CCI
New Delhi: A merger between
the Indian unit of Japan’s Sony
and Zee Entertainment to cre-
ate a $10 billion TV enterprise
will potentially
hurt competi-
tion by having
“unparalleled
bargaining
power”, the
country’s antitrust watchdog
found in an initial review. The
Competition Commission of
India’s (CCI) Aug. 3 notice to
the 2 companies stated the
watchdog is of the view that a
further investigation is merited.
Sony and Zee decided to merge
their television channels, film
assets and streaming platforms
to create a powerhouse in a
key media and entertainment
growth market of 1.4 billion
people, challenging rivals like
Walt Disney Co.

GDP RECORDS DOUBLE-DIGIT GROWTH
India’s economy grows
13.5% in Q1 of 2022-23
New Delhi (Agencies):
India’s economy achieved
its fastest annual expan-
sion in a year in the April-
June quarter, according to
data released by the Na-
tional Statistical Office
(NSO) on Wednesday.
India’s gross domestic
product (GDP) in the three
months to June 30, 2022
was 13.5%. However, this
is lower than the Reserve
Bank of India’s projection
of 16.2% GDP growth in
Q1FY23.
June quarter growth
was driven by manufac-
turing and services, such
as accommodation and
travel, rebounding from
pandemic restrictions.
The last time India’s
GDP achieved higher an-
nual growth was in April-
June 2021, when it was
20.1% higher than the
pandemic-depressed level
of a year before.
After recording a 20.1%
growth in the first quarter
of 2021-22, GDP growth
had consistently fell dur-
ing the entire FY22. In the
second quarter of 2021-22,
it slid to 8.4%, in the third
quarter, it further fell to
5.4% while in the fourth
quarter of the previous
fiscal, it came down to
4.1%.
“Real GDP or Gross Do-
mestic Product (GDP) at
Constant (2011-12) Prices
in Q1 2022-23 is estimated
to attain a level of Rs 36.85
trillion, as against Rs
32.46 trillion in Q1 2021-22,
showing a growth of
13.5% as compared to
20.1% in Q1 2021-22,” said
Ministry of Statistics
Programme Implementa-
tion. “Nominal GDP or
GDP at Current Prices in
Q1 2022-23 is estimated at
Rs 64.95 trillion, as against
Rs 51.27 trillion in Q1 2021-
22, showing a growth of
26.7% as compared to
32.4% in Q1 2021-22,” said
MoSPI in a statement.
The Reserve Bank of In-
dia (RBI) has raised its
benchmark repo rate by
140 basis points since May,
including 50 basis points
this month, while warn-
ing about the impact of a
global slowdown on do-
mestic growth prospects.
Many economists ex-
pect another rate hike of
about 50 basis points next
month, followed by one
more of 25 basis points
thereafter.
Consumer spending,
which accounts for nearly
55% of economic activity,
has been hit hard follow-
ing a rise in prices of food
and fuel, though monthly
inflation has moderated
in the past three months.

Reliance acquires soft drink

New Delhi (PTI): The US
Fed policy action, RBI rate
decision and foreign fund
flows are some of the major
factors that will guide the
equity markets in the near-
term, analysts said on
Wednesday
. Besides these,
September quarter earn-
ings announcements would
also pave the way for the
markets, whose overall
structure remains bullish,
they added. From its 52-
weeklowof 50,921.22quoted
on June 17 this year, the
Sensex has jumped 16.91 per
cent till now. The Nifty has
climbed 16.96% from its 52-
week low of 15,183.40 on
June 17 this year. So far in
2022, the BSE Sensex has
climbed2.20percentandthe
Nifty has advanced 2.33%.
“We believe that the un-
derlying market is bullish.
Given India’s stance as a
high-performing economy,
there are many reasons for
India to be an excellent per-
former as we advance,”
said Sunil Damania, Chief
Investment Officer, Mar-
ketsMojo. He said the rupee
has stabilized after hitting
an all-time low level. The
rupee is currently hovering
at 79.50 against the US dol-
lar. It had touched an all-
time low of 80.15 against
the US dollar in intra-day
trade on Monday. “We are
of the opinion that irre-
spective of whether the
market touches a record
high in September, market
sentiments will stay bullish
by Diwali,” Damania said.
New Delhi (PTI): Campa
Cola, which vanished from
the shelves after liberalisa-

chance for a second life, as
part of billionaire Mukesh
Ambani-controlled Reli-
ance Industries’ (RIL) plan

RIL has acquired home-

brand Campa from Delhi-
based Pure Drinks Group
in a deal estimated at about
Rs 22 crore, and the com-
pany is poised to launch
Campa by October around
Diwali this year, according
to a report in ET.
The company will roll
out cola flavour, lemon and
orange via Reliance Retail
stores, JioMart and more
than 15 lakh kiranas, thus
directly competing with
the American cola giants—
Coca-Cola and PepsiCo.

(Agencies) : Russia halted
gas supplies via Europe’s
key supply route on
Wednesday
, intensifying an
economic battle between
Moscow and Brussels and
raising the prospects of re-
cession and energy ration-
ing in some of the region’s
richest countries.
European governments
fear Moscow could extend
the outage in retaliation
for Western sanctions im-
posed after it invaded
Ukraine and have accused
Russia of using energy
supplies as a “weapon of
war”. Moscow denies doing
this and has cited technical
reasons for supply cuts.
Russian state energy gi-
ant Gazprom said Nord
Stream 1, the biggest pipe-
line carrying gas to its top
customer Germany, will be
out for maintenance from
0100 GMT on Aug. 31 to
0100 GMT on Sept. 3. The
president of the German
network regulator said
Germany was now better
prepared for the outages as
its gas storage was nearly
85% filled and it was secur-
ing supplies from other
sources. “We can take gas
from the storage in the
winter, we are saving gas
(and need to keep doing
so!), the LNG terminals are
coming, and thanks to Bel-
gium, the Netherlands,
Norway (and soon France),
gas is flowing,” Klaus Mu-
eller said on Twitter.
In Germany, inflation
soared to its highest in al-
most 50 years in August
and consumer sentiment
soured as households brace
for a spike in energy bills.

While talking to the media, Gehlot said that lord Ganesha is con- sidered to be the first revered deity and Bal Gangadhar Tilak had started Ganesh festival to give freedom to the country. “I have wished for prosperity in the state,” he said. While speaking to media during a program at Kedli Phatak here, Dhariwal informed that dilapidated temples of Kota will be renovated soon. “Nearly 50 temples have been renovated in Kota North alone. LAKHSBOWATMOTIDUNGRITEMPLE First India Bureau Jaipur: The return of Ajitabh Sharma to Jaipur, posting accord- ed to APO Rohit Gupta, and new appointments being made on the posts of MD and Mission Di- rectors of Skill Devel- opment Corporation, NHM and Jal Jeevan Mission are some of the highlights of the trans- fer list issued late on Saturday night. In the comparatively small list of merely 10 names, Sikar Collector has also been removed. Undergoing his 6th transfer in the current government, the 1996 batch IAS Ajitabh Shar- ma was appointed as Chairman of Tax Board merely 4 months back and has now been given the responsibility of City Bus Transport in Jaipur. Ajitabh is a na- tive of Jaipur and hence has a special interest in the development and progress of the city. How he bettered the work of Metro, in the same manner, it is ex- pected that he will bet- ter the bad situation prevailing in the Bus Transport system. 2006 batch IAS Rohit Gupta has been promot- ed to the rank of Secre- tary 8 months back, but despite this, the state government has given him a jump and ap- pointed him as Secre- tary, Finance (Budget). Rohit, who has served as Collector in 6 dis- tricts, has been trusted by the government and as such he is a result- oriented officer. In its issue dated Au- gust 21, First India had raised the issue of full- time MD of Skill Devel- opment Corporation (RSLDC) as the work is getting affected. Now the state government has appointed Renu Jaipal as full-time MD. Similarly, Sudheer Kumar is Mission Di- rector of NHM and Avi- chal Chaturvedi is Mis- sion Director of Jal Jeevan Mission, but ap- pointing them this late, the DoP has shown its lackadaisical approach. Avichal is fifth Mission Director of Jal Jeevan Mission and has a mountain of challenges before him. Avichalhaddonegood work as Sikar Collector and despite the political tussle and groupism of politicians in the dis- trict, he played a two- year-long inning, which is a major achievement. Unfortunately, the re- cent incident during the Khatushyamji fair re- sultedinhimbeingoust- ed and now a 2016 batch IAS Amit Yadav has been appointed Collec- tor of Sikar. Saturday’s transfer list appears to be half addressing the issue as even today, officials are carrying out the addi- tional charge of about one dozen major de- partments. It was hoped that this list would have lessened that burden, but it wasn’t the case, the next transfer list is now due which can be released anytime now. Notably, while there are officers, who are be- ing transferred time and again, there are three officers, who have been perched comfort- ably, for over two years, on the same post. These are Vaibhav Galriya (34 months), Anand Kumar (25 months) and Muk- tanand Agrawal (25 months). After them comes Hemant Gera, who has completed 22 months and although Praveen Gupta and Krishna Kunal too have been serving on their current assignments for two years, their ten- ure falls under the Elec- tion Commission. DoP tries to fill gaps and makes a half-hearted attempt! First India Bureau Jaipur/Sawai Mad- hopur: Ganesh Chatur- thi was celebrated with religious fervour across Rajasthan where idols of the popular deity were installed in homes decorated pandals by devotees on Wednesday . Bhadrapada Shukla Chaturthi coincided with Wednesday this year. After 2 years of Corona period, the fair of Ganesh Chaturthi was held at Moti Dun- gri Ganesh temple where devotees in large numbers flocked. The fair was held with traditional fer- vour and enthusiasm. Long queues of devo- tees were witnessed at the famous temple throughout the day . As per an estimate, nearly 6 lakh people vis- ited the fair amid tight security arrangements. Special traffic arrange- ments were also in place. In view of the huge crowd of devotees, the administration had closed the entry from 3 places on JLN Marg. At the same time, barri- cading was done on JLN Marg, Moti Dungri Road and Takhteshahi Road. Looking at the crowd, the temple man- agement decided to open the doors of the temple till 12 o’clock on Wednesday night. In Ranthambore, close to 10 lakh devotees visited the famous Tri- netra Ganesh temple. • 4. PERSPECTIVE JAIPUR | THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 1, 2022 04 www.firstindia.co.in I https://firstindia.co.in/epapers/jaipur I twitter.com/thefirstindia I facebook.com/thefirstindia I instagram.com/thefirstindia Promoted by Shree Cement Ltd. n event was organ- ised by Bharatiya Shikshan Mandal and Research for Re- surgence Foundation in 2018 titled Educa- tion for Resurgence and it was a Vice-Chancellors’ conference. We were keen on inviting PM Modi and it was an honour for us when he agreed to attend the event. I was the President of the Bharatiya Shi- kshan Mandal Organising com- mittee and on the day of the event as we all moved to greet and welcome him, I was taken aback when he addressed me by my first name and said “How are you doing Sachidanandji?” I knew how well-read and aware PM Modi is, how well-prepared he is every time he goes out for some event, but when he ad- dresses a common man such as me with his name, it comes across as most remarkable and induces a sense of importance in the listener. While we were walking to- wards the hall, he enquired about the well-being of Raiji and remarked with such accuracy “Raiji complains of stomach problems. He does not look after himself much so the onus lies on you all to take good care of him.” It is amazing how PM Modi cares to remember such minute details about people and their problems and this, to me, was an eye-opener about the greatness of Modiji as a leader. And not just this, he is genuinely wor- ried about people. It is not a superficial concern that he shows randomly , in fact far from that. He is deeply aware of even the personal problems that people are facing and there is such sincerity and conviction in his voice that one feels really cared for in his presence. The arrangement in that meeting was such that I had the honour of being seated just next to him. It gave me the oppor- tunity to converse with him and it was an out-of- the-world experience for all of us to be able to dis- cuss the finer details with him, to listen to all the speakers and then gain an in- sightintothesubjectbylistening in to what PM Modi had to say about it. We could see for ourselves that PM Modi is an extremely keen observerandallhisobservations are well-articulated profundities about the subject at hand. He de- voted an hour and a half of his precious time in that event at the end of which he delivered an electrifying speech which com- pletely charged the audience. After a few days I got a call from the Publication Depart- ment saying that they wanted to publish PM Modi’s speech and that they were sending in a pan- el of experts for a meeting with him. I happened to be part of the panel and then in a few days, Director General Dr Rao called me up to say that I had been cho- sen along with Mr Kanchan Gupta to edit and publish the compendium of speeches. Kan- chanji then spoke with me and said that we would have to meet PM Modi regarding the same. We were asked to meet Modiji in Lok Sabha and after a little wait we were ushered in to meet him in his room. What struck me as extraordinary was that there was not a single piece of paper on his table and his demeanour showed as if he had been wait- ing for us. The point is that be- ing the PM and that too in the middle of the parliamentary session, he could have been deeply engrossed in his work at that time as well. But the fact that he chose to remain com- pletely free for us showed his concern for us and the ability to give importance to even ordi- nary people. Not just this, PM Modi gave us the greatest and the most credible certificate of our hard work when he gave a pat on his back and said “What a wonderful event it was! Your hard work is truly commenda- ble. I am sure you must have got a backache working for such long hours at a stretch! This work was not easy at all but you all made it look so simple by your dedication.” Modiji is a perfectionist par excellence and his generous appreciation of our work meant the world to us. Where our imagination ends, his be- gins. Therefore we had been exceedingly careful about cu- rating the entire program with perfection and we had indeed put in a lot of effort in the de- signing of the event. Then he said that we must continue our hard work for the upcoming events in the next 5 years. The first book we published was titled “Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas” and he said that the forth- comingcompilationwillbetitled Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas Sabka Vishwas. There was another pro- ject for which I had to make a 45-minute online presentation to him and was told that Modiji would connect from his office in Lok Sabha. As I began speaking, I somehow got deeply engrossed in the content so much so that I ended up taking a long time. When I apologized to Modiji, he immediately asked me to con- tinue and said that he was listen- ing. Well, he was not just listen- ing. He had gone deep into the intricacies of the presentation and each and every detail was clearly etched in his mind. The points that he raised after the discussion were simply the re- flection of a genius mind. Only someone with immeasurable fo- cus, patience and grasp over things could come up with such ingenious ideas and suggestions post presentation. And that too when the project was simply at a conceptual stage. He then gave the go ahead for the project! Then, on 13th August I got a call saying that a very impor- tant guest would be coming to meet me on the 15th. I began to panic how and when I would make preparations for this very special person, who was none other than Modiji. And do you know what was the first sen- tence he spoke when he stepped out of his car on 15th August? He said “Apologies Sachidan- andji for making you wait for me this long!” As I accompanied him on his tourtothepremises, hecontinued tolistenintentlyaboutallthepro- jects and asked numerous ques- tions while at the same time en- couraging me to keep up the good work! Modiji has every single element of the universe bal- anced in such a su- per human way that astuteness in statesmanship becomes his sec- ond nature. The narrator brings to the readers how Modiji has complete control over human na- ture and his razor sharp intelli- gence, infinite wisdom, emotion- al intelligence and deep knowl- edge, make him the genius who is loved, followed and revered by not just the nation but the world. Modiji’s personality is multi- faceted. With children, he as- sumes the persona of a child. With adults, he knows which aspect of his personality to bring to the front to make the best out of a situation. When in- teracting with him, one never feels one is trying to establish a connection with the unattaina- ble. He is extremely welcoming and responsive and never makes one feel that one is trying to con- verse with somebody unap- proachable. He is ever open to suggestions and we never hesi- tate to talk our ideas out with him. Modiji is always super re- ceptive to ideation with out-of- the-box thinking being his forte. He has the knack of making any conversation lively and cheery by responding and reacting to each and every idea. In 1983, my father left us for his heavenly abode but Modiji’s presence was so powerful and embracing that I never felt I did not have my father around me or that there was none any more to care about me. In 1987, I became CA. In 1988, I got my office renovated. Now office renovation is no big deal but at a per- sonal level, I was made to feel extremely special by the presence of Modiji and all my colleagues at the function I had organ- ized. When people make it a point to lend their support at events such as these, life becomes so much hap- pier and inspiring. Well, I got married in 1989. It came as a sur- prise for me that the business- men meet was decided to be held in the same city as that of my wedding venue to make it con- venient for everyone to attend the function. So not for once did I feel that I was alone or that my father wasn’t there. An interesting incident that I would like to share is from the time when I was in-charge of the computer centre in 2002. I was also handling work pertaining to electronic media. It was the first time that Modiji was contesting an election. First he became CM and then in six months he had to get elected and he decided to fight from Rajkot. Since it was a high profile election, people from all over Gujarat were ex- pected and we wanted to make use of this opportunity . We built a writeup and 15 to 20 of us did our groundwork and shared our thoughts with Modiji. But as we all know, Modiji, has a different and varied perspective to every- thing and he gave us eye-opening suggestions about how we could use the presence of a huge gath- ering to our advantage. As we had figured out that those part of the event would certainly have relatives and friends wanting to support Modiji, we decided to tap that potential. Eventually we made lists of all the people who would vote for Modiji as suggest- ed by the attendees, and then we monitored them throughout. An interesting aspect that came out of this event was when we came up with the idea of re- cording an IVR kind of message by Modiji. It was a simple but ex- tremely effective message as in those days technology was not so advanced and nothing like this had been done earlier. We got a highqualityvoicerecordingdone with automatic dialing features, and got all the STDs and PCOs to work towards this campaign. It turned out to be fantastic and people were elated to receive calls saying “Hello, It is me, Narendra Modi. This election is very im- portant…” in Gujarati and an instant bond was created with ourvoterbase.Thecampaigncre- ated a kind of a stir in the circles and people were thrilled with the newness of the idea. Not just this, Modiji because of his futuristic vision, asked me to figure out a way to share his message across to all the stake- holders at once. Every Saturday or Sunday he would come to Ra- jkot but in two days how many meetings could he be present for? He suggested we record a video of his message and buy VCD players for each of the 18 wards in which the recording could be played to the people. Modiji always thinks ahead of time and his ideas strike a cord with the people because of their innovativeness. This is the rea- son why people connect more and more with Modiji. In February, my wife, daugh- ter and I went to meet Modiji. One knows immediately that you are standing in front of a great leader when he addresses you with first name. And this is how Modiji is! He always begins the interaction with “How are you? How is your mother? Hope you didn’t face any problem during COVID!” Meeting him is like meeting a family member and there is nothing formal about it. I am into micro-finance and I shared with him a few ideas that I was planning for Gujarat and said that we must implement the idea all over India. Immediately he took interest in the sugges- tions and responded positively . Last but not least, Modiji is the perfect Management Guru. He is a master delegator as he knows exactly who has the potential to successfully complete a particu- lar work. He also ensures that all the IAS officers, who possess deep knowledge about the func- tioning of the country, work hard towards the development of the nation. He does not limit his reach only to the party mem- bers, but takes everyone along to work for progress. Another ob- servation that I have made is that if you show him something on a paper, he never touches it. He will ask you to explain every- thing orally and will come up with the solution there and then, leaving nothing for the future. All I can say is that he is a master of Monkey Theory and he uses it for maximum benefit. TO BE CONTINUED... Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal re- membered the veteran leader and tweeted his respects. Union minis- ter Hardeep Singh Puri shared his pictures with the leader and said, “He will always be remembered for his immense contribution to public life, exempla- ry service to the nation, bipartisan politics and statesmanship.” The Congress recalled his “monumental contribu- tions to the nation” and tweeted a remem- brance post. Various other handles of the party too remembered the senior leader. Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma remem- bered him as “a man of learning and wisdom who deeply influenced public life during his long political career.” IN THE COURTYARD SC TO EXAMINE CONTEMPT PETITION IN SEC 164 CRPC STATEMENT DOC IN RAPE CASE STATEMENT OF TWITTER USER WHOSE PLAINT LED TO ZUBAIR’S ARREST RECORDED HARASSMENT CASES AGAINST JUDGES: SC TO HEAR PLEA New Delhi: The SC has di- rected its Secretary-General to respond in a case relating to the enquiry mechanism into sexual harassment cases against sitting and retired judges. The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, or AMC, had ordered the city’s only slaughterhouse to pull down its shutters between August 24 and 31, and Sept 4 and 9 due to festivals. A bench of Chief Justice of India UU Lalit and S Ravindra Bhat on August 29 issued notice to Telangana state and listed the matter for September 26. The police officials denied disclosing more details about the businessman including his name. Manish Tewari questions fairness of the process New Delhi: Congress MP Manish Tewari has questioned the fairness of Congress president polls set to be held on October 17 as the elec- toral roll is not availa- ble to the public. “Why should someone have to go to every PCC office in the country to find out who the electors are,” he asked. In a series of tweets, Manish Tewari said, “How can there be a fair and free election with- out a publicly available electoral roll? Essence of a fair and free pro- cess is that names and addresses of electors must be published on the INC website in a transparent manner.” The senior leader was responding to party election authority chief Madhusudan Mistry, who had claimed that the process to elect the next Congress chief would be a fair one. Mistry had said in an article that if a member wants to check the list of delegates, they can visit PCC office and the list will be given to can- didates once they file their nominations. In response, Tewari said, “CWC has an- nounced scheduled of Congress president election not for 28 PCC’s and eight TCC’s. Why should someone have to go to every PCC office in the country to find out who the elec- tors are? This does not happen in a club elec- tion also with great re- spect. In the interests of fairness and trans- parency, I urge your gods self to publish the entire list on the INC website.” “How can someone consider running if he/ she does not know who the electors are?,” he added. CONGRESS PRESIDENTIAL POLLS The rift within Cong came to the fore once again on Wednesday THAROOR QUALIFIED TO CONTEST FOR CONGRESS PREZ POLL: KPCC CHIEF RAGA TO RESOLVE PEOPLE’S ISSUES IN HIMACHAL, PROMISES FIVE LAKH JOBS Thiruvananthapuram (PTI): Congress is a demo- cratic party and its Lok Sabha member Shashi Tha- roor is qualified to contest for the party’s presidential election, KPCC chief K Sudhakaran said on Wednesday. Sudhakaran said if Tharoor wishes to con- test the polls there is no need to blame him as the Congress is a democratic party and its members have the right to contest for the top party post. “What is there to wonder about? Is he not an eligible candidate? All the members of the Indian National Congress have the right to contest as it is a democratic party. If I wish to contest, I could also do that. The party will accept it. If I get the votes, I will win”, Sudhakaran told reporters here, responding to a query. He said the Congress has the strength to address such issues through the democratic process. New Delhi: Former Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday said the party shall keep its promise of providing five lakh jobs to youths in Himachal Pradesh as also Rs 1,500 per month to women and restore the pension scheme in the hill state if voted to power. “Congress pledge in Devb- hoomi #HimachalKaSankalp. Old pension scheme restored. Rs 1500 per month to women. Free electricity up to 300 units. 5 lakh jobs for youth. Rs 680 crore start-up fund. Like Raj Chhattisgarh, we will keep our promises. Together we will take Himachal forward again,” Gandhi said on Twitter. Is Manish Tewari searching 'rightousness' in his 'failed cause'? Sharat K Verma New Delhi: Congress leaderManishTewari has called the Con- gress leaders attack- ing Ghulam Nabi Azad as peons. Azad has already described the leaders associated with the Congress high command as sycophants. Now Ti- wari has called them a peon. In a letter to Sonia Gandhi, Azad has said that Rahul Gandhi’s ordinance tearing became the biggest reason for the Congress’s defeat in 2014. But he did not write that the lan- guage and arrogance of leaders like Man- ish Tewari and Kapil Sibal also played a big role. Manish Tewari had said in a press conference at the peak of Anna Haz- are’s movement that Anna too is immersed in corruption from head to toe. This statement of Manish Tewari proved to be the last nail in the coffin of Congress. Similarly, one of the leaders of G-23 was Kapil Sibal, who had given the theory of zero loss in the communication scam. The funny thing is that after hammering the nail in the coffin of the Congress, Tiwari un- derstood that the par- ty was going to lose badly, so he gave up from contesting the elections. He was a star MP and a star minister in the Man- mohan Singh govt but did not contest the 2014 elections. In the next election i.e. in 2019, when it was felt that now the situation has improved and he can win, he changed his seat and fought from another seat. That is, he fought whenever they want- ed, didn’t fight when- ever he wanted, changed seats when- ever he wanted, but it all happened because of his ability and that’s where other people get all the things because of be- ing a peon! Manish Tewariwasnotapeon when he was abusing Anna Hazare but to- day if any leader abuses Azad, then he or she is being termed a peon! Bulldozer razes shops outside SP office Lucknow (PTI): The civic body here on Wednesday bulldozed shops mostly selling campaign material on the road outside the Sa- majwadi Party office. According to the Luc- know Municipal Corpo- ration officials, the makeshift shops on Vikramaditya Marg were illegal and their owners were sent notic- es several times in the last six months asking them to remove the structures. “They were given time and an an- nouncement was also made there earlier. Officials said the shops on empty spaces in front of the bungalows affected the flow of traffic. KCR meets Nitish Kumar, now BJP rival again New Delhi: In his latest outreach move aimed at stitching together an al- liance of like-minded parties against the BJP, Telangana Chief Minis- ter K Chandrashekar Rao today met Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and his deputy Tejashwi Yadav in Pat- na. The leaders are scheduled to appear at a few events before head- ing for lunch. Rao, sporting a fedora hat, posed for pictures whil being welcomed with flower bouquets by his Bihar counterpart and RJD Chief Yadav. The three leaders are ex- pected to discuss na- tional politics. BJP leader Sushil Ku- mar Modi took a dig at the two Chief Minis- ters, saying their meet- ing is a “get-together of two daydreamers”. Taking a swipe at the meeting, Modi, who was a Deputy Chief Minister for more than a decade with Kumar as the Chief Minister in the JD(U)-BJP govern- ment in Bihar, said it is a meeting of two lead- ers who are losing their base in their respective states and “desiring to become Prime Minister of the country”. “It is a meeting of two daydreamers who have no standing in front of PM Narendra Modi,” the BJP leader told reporters. Thirty-two MLAs of the JMM-Congress-RJD coalition in Jharkhand flew to Raipur by a char- tered flight on Tuesday and were taken to May- fair Golf Resort in Nava Raipur. Baghel met the MLAs at the resort on Tuesday night. He was talking to reporters on Wednesday morning at Swami Vive- kananda Airport here before leaving for Himachal Pradesh where he has been ap- pointed as senior ob- server by the Congress for the coming assembly polls. “Alliance partners JMM and Congress in Jharkhand decided to bring their MLAs to Chhattisgarh to protect them considering the way the BJP has in- dulged in horse-trad- ing,” Baghel said. “RecentlythreeMLAs (of Congress in Jharkhand) were held in West Bengal (with cash),” the Congress leader further said.
