• Among all these major changes lie the small changes within
our life styles. A decade ago, I remember Chinese food was a
specialty and a rarity. It would be cooked on special occasions
and people would dine out occasionally to relish it. Ingredients
as the Peri Peri Sauces, Paprika, and Cheese etc were all
limited when it came to domestic households.

• The undue westernization is dominating the typical Pakistani
culture.

the people speaking Urdu are considered backward or
illiterate.
• Similarly, the meal preferences have changed from chapatti
and rice to Subway, KFC and McDonalds. Instead of
traditional drinks, Pepsi and Coke have found its way into our
homes.

• Advantages
• The bloom of media has changed our lives in ways we
could not imagine a decade or more ago. Our eating
habits have revolutionized, dressing styles changed,
buildings’ architectures alleviated, thoughts and views
broadened and we views about relations have also
changed and moreover we have found haram
relationships as well.
oDisadvantages
• Also an outcome of the growing media is the inferiority in
the minds of our youth. This again, reinforces the idea of
how the Pakistani people is always awaiting the
approvals of the west to be seen as modern, up-to-date,
and trendy, continually displaying the inferiority complex,
feeling the need to be seen as modern.

• media has played a crucial role in the way Muslims and Islam have
been perceived over the years. “It would be hard for anyone to say
that they have not ‘heard’ of Islam with the amount of coverage that
our deen has received in recent years through so many different
media outlets.

• The past, seeking knowledge about Islam was mainly restricted to
the Masjids, educational institutions, and learning from imams and
sheikhs. These traditional learning opportunities remain intact.
However, now Muslims are also able to learn, question, teach, and
network through social networking sites. “There are more avenues
by which to learn about Islam. The Internet has given the public
access to all kinds of information and made Islamic literature so
much more accessible

Western media has portrayed the image of Islam as a bad
religion and religion of war and extremist. Non-Muslims
wanted to degrade and insult Islam which they have
successfully done by using their media. For example if a
Muslim father has killed his son or daughter then the west
media will report it as “Muslim father has killed his son or
daughter “ but if any Non-Muslim father has killed his son
or daughter then the west media will report it as “father
has killed his son or daughter”.
