Silaplast™ improves fill pattern,
de-molding and cycle time
ExCista Corporation, Confidential
Product Profile:
Industry / Company: Consumer / GKR Techno Plast
Application: Thermoplastic molded handle
Material: Reprocessed Polyethylene (PE)
Customer Issue:
The injection molder was having the following problems with the
processing of a re-processed PE material:
Non-fill
Rib pattern read-through
Poor part appearance
ExCista Solution: Silaplast™ ES7722
The pelletized Silaplast™ additive acts as an internal lubricant during
processing, improving flow and slip properties for better mold fill and
throughput. Metered into the polymer mix at just 2.5% by weight, the additive
also reduces the coefficient of friction (COF) on the surface of the molded part,
resulting in easier mold release
Re-processed Polyethylene (PE) molded part process
enhancement case study
Results:
Non-fills / short shots -- eliminated
Scrap down to 2% from 44%
Reduction in total cycle time by 20%
Post cooling warp in parts minimized
