Wednesday’s Assure
A. Analyze Learners
General Characteristics:
 Age: 16-18
 Gender: 8 female, 7 male
 Grade: High school Seniors
 Culture: Small town kids
Learning Styles:
Mixture of auditory, kinetic, and visual
Entry Competencies:
 Entry: Basic English – probably new to the novel
 Prerequisites: Classes needed to enter my course
S. State Objectives
By the end of the day my students will describe the mood of the first scene of Othello
with 93% accuracy by reporting their thoughts to me via our zello channel
OthellointheClassroom after reading the text in class.
S. Select Methods and Materials
Method: Report thoughts on Act 1: Scene One
Media: zello
Material: smartphone, the text, class ipad, computer
U: Utilize Media and Materials
The students will read the text in class, I will make sure everyone has a copy of the text
as well as have it up on the board. We will read aloud. After we have completed the reading I
will ensure everyone has the password to our zello channel. Then, each student will take a turn
going out into the hall and reporting to me using the zello app. If they need the classroom ipad
because their phone cannot access zello, they will be allowed to use it instead.
R. Require Learner Participation
The students will have to read and follow along to the first act and scene of the text.
Then, they will each have to take their turn in the hall reporting their thoughts to me. We will
have a conversation discussion their thoughts on the mood of the first scene of the play.
E. Evaluate and Revise
Students will be evaluated on their completion of the given task. After each student has
discussed their theories with me, they will receive credit. If it does not go over as expected and
too many students freeze up, zello will be completely dropped in the future.
