PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:
Working in National Power Control Center,National Transmission and Dispatch Company from Apr-2008 till
date.
National Power Control Center:
The NPCC (National Power Control Center) WAPDA/NTDC Islamabad ensure continuous supply of Electric
Energy to all its consumers at all points at a frequency and voltage levels within the permissible limits through
SCADA System (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition). NPCC is responsible for generation of electric
energy as economically as possible by coordinating hydro-thermal power plants to meet with the load demand
of the consumers from time to time. The network constraints are also given due consideration while dispatching
and transmitting the power in order to keep the system stability intact to the possible extent.
Job Responsibilitiesat National Power Control Centre:
Shift Engineer (Network Operations & CONTROL):
Continuous monitoring of Frequency level in Power transmission network.
Maintaining balance between supply and demand.
Economic Load dispatching using hydro thermal coordination with different type of generators installed
in the system (HYDEL,DG- Sets, GT’s, Steam Turbines, Nuclear and Wind plants).
Execution of merit order for economic dispatch and unit commitment.
Study and implementation of Private Power Agreements, and SOP’s with different stake
holders (KESC, IPP’s).
To study and arrange planned and emergent shut down of Power Generating Plants and Network
equipments.
Generation Control of Generating Units through Automatic Generator Control (AGC) or manually w.r.t
variations in Frequency (50 Hz).
Preparing and implementing generating schedule & observe the spinning reserve criteria.
Study & implement load management schemes in pre- arranged methods in case of generation shortage
or other system contingency.
Monitoring, Control and Operation of 500kV, 220kV and 132kV electrical substations and transmission
lines through SCADA.
Keeping system parameters like voltage, frequency, loading of circuits and transformers within
allowable range as defined in “NEPRA Grid Code”, for reliable and secure system operation
Performing normal switching operations for routine shutdowns of high voltage transmission lines
Performing operations and issuing instructions to substation staff in case of emergency tripping events.
2. Taking remedial measures to restore normal state of the system in case of any disturbance. .
Preparing reports related to operation of Power Delivery System.
Preparing short term contingency plans.
TECHNICAL SKILLS:
Performing Steady State Load Flow Analysis using PSSE and ALSTOM EMS system.
Preparation of Energy generation data on daily basis on MS Excel.
Cost estimation of energy generated from different energy sources on daily basis.
