- 3. Management tips:
1. You may want to make this a silent activity so students don't share
answers with each other.
2. You can have the kids work alone or with a classmate.
3. Don't be afraid to hide the facts in tough places. Kids think it's
more fun when they have to search around a little.
4. Have a plan for students who finish early. You may want to have an
assignment for them to complete when they're done or you may
have them help other students find fact cards.

Purpose : At the end of this Scavenger hunt students will be able to learn
the information about Water Cycle and its Science with its vocabulary.
1. Print the Scavenger Hunt cards on card stock or brightly -colored
paper and cut them apart along the black lines.
2. Make copies of the Scavenger Hunt questions worksheet. Each
student needs a copy.
3. Place the Scavenger Hunt cards around your classroom where
students will be able to find them. You can put them on chairs, on the
computer keyboard, on the back of your classroom door, on the sides
of student desks, on the chalkboard or wherever you like.
4. Students have to search the room and find all of the sentence cards to
answer the questions. You can differentiate by having students work
alone or with a classmate.

The water cycle is a continuous
cycle where water evaporates,
condenses and precipitates and
again evaporates.
Water Cycle includes various
processes such as,
Transpiration
Evaporation
Condensation
Precipitation
Accumulation
Water is an integral part of life
on this planet. Means the
existence of water is essential for
life on Earth.
97% of the water on Earth is
salt water found in the oceans.
3% of Earth's water is fresh
water.

Solar energy drives evaporation
of water from the ocean.
The evaporated water changes
from a liquid to water vapor, a
gaseous form.
The amount of water lost by a
plant depends on its size along
with the surrounding light
intensity, temperature, humidity,
wind speed and soil water supply.
Transpiration is the evaporation
of water from plants into the air.
Transpiration also cools plants
and enables the flow of minerals
& nutrients from the roots.

Condensation: Evaporated water
is warmed and rises into the air
where eventually it cools and
condenses to form clouds.
Here water vapors are associated
with particles present in air and
convert into cloud.
Accumulation is the collection
of precipitation into rivers, lakes
and oceans.
Precipitation: When clouds
become very heavy with
condensed water, the water is
released in the form of rain, hail or
snow.
Some of the human actions can
impact on the water cycle such as

The word water usually refers to
water in its liquid state. The solid
state of water is known as ice while
the gaseous state of water is known
as steam or water vapor.
Inflitration : In this process, the
rain water soaks into the ground,
through the rock and underlying
rock layers.
Infiltration: The water flows from
ground surface into the ground.
Once infiltrated, the water becomes
soil moisture or groundwater.
Ground water flow: Ground water
slowly moves through the spaces and
cracks between the soil particles and
go to the lower elevations. This
movement of the water underground
is called groundwater flow.

Runoff: It is the movement of the
water to the oceans, mainly in the
form of the rivers, lakes and
streams.
Adding and extracting the heat
makes the water cycle work. If the
heat is added to ice, it melts. If the
heat is added to water, it
evaporates.
Importance of the water cycle:
Humans use water for drinking,
respiration, perspiration and
elimination of wastes are all part of
this cycle.
