Management
I currently work as a deputy manager. I communicate information effectively
with my team and feel this is an important part of team work to provide
continuity for our clients. In my role, I support a team of care staff,
housekeepers and cooks. I keep them informed and updated of any changes
to clients individual needs and monitor their work to ensure they work to the
best of their ability. I carry out supervisions and appraisals, ensuring staff feel
supported and their training needs are met.
Experience
4. I have had lots of experience working with dementia and challenging behavior
within my current role and feel I used appropriate techniques to help minimize
this. Over my career I have gained invaluable experience working with the
elderly, ensuring we deliver a better service for vulnerable people, making
sure their voice is heard. Creating care plans that are personally centered to
the individual’s needs. I implement risk assessments to reduce the risk to
clients and staff. I have some experience of working in the social housing
sector giving advice on benefits.
Practical Skills
I am involved in the formulation of Support Plans for the clients coming in to
the home sector and have an active role in the regular review and update of
these plans, ensuring all their care needs are met. I completed assessments,
emergency admissions and short respite stays.
Communication
I feel that my verbal communication during hand over, meetings, supervisions
and generally when interacting with staff, residents, families, outside
professionals and others I come into contact with during my daily work, is
very effective. I am able to listen to others points of view and to keep my
voice low and calm in all situations.
Personal Qualities
I feel that I am calm, outgoing person with a good sense of humor. I get on
well with colleagues and work well within a team and on my own. I am
physically fit. Through my previous experiences of working with people who
present challenging behavior, I feel that I would be able to physically
intervene in situations where this would be appropriate.
Technology/IT Skills
I feel that my computer skills are more than adequate for my current role,
regularly using Word, Spreadsheets, online ordering etc.
Equal Opportunities
I am a firm believer in equal opportunities for all and feel that I always
practice in a non-discriminatory way when dealing with any situation arising
at work.
