LESSON PLAN :
I. Objectives
A. Focus Skills
Listening : By the end of the lesson, the students will be able to elicit precise
information about an event through listening to a news report.
Speaking : By the end of the lesson, the students will be able to narrate an event
using precise event information through a dialogue.
Grammar : By the end of the lesson, the students will be able to understand and
use common idioms used by native speakers.
B. Support Skills
Pronunciation : By the end of the lesson, the students will be able to know
how to pronounce some of the commonly mispronounced
words like: IN JEOPARDY, TSUNAMI
Vocabulary : By the end of the lesson, the students will be able to
understand the words and expressions used in the dialogue.

IV. Background : The students on this demo video are not my actual students. I am an online
teacher/tutor and I don’t have students in a real classroom. The students on this video volunteered
to be my students. They are college students in the Philippines who are planning to study abroad
(New Zealand and/or Australia). They love watching American TV series like FRIENDS and THE
BIG BANG THEORY.
V. Strategies
A. Daily Classroom Routine
Greeting the students and asked them to introduce themselves
B. Motivation
The students will watch a news report about the FUKUSHIMA DAIICHI NUCLEAR
DISASTER
C. Introduction/Lesson Proper
Unlocking of Vocabulary words that will be used in the Dialogue
Reading a dialogue and ask comprehension questions.
Discuss and give examples of what idioms are
D. Activities
Ask the students to identify the idioms used in the dialogue.
Watch a video clip of the TV series FRIENDS
E. Evaluation/Assessment
Students will list down the idioms that they’ve heard on the video clip.
F. Review/Generalization
Ask Cognitive Checking Questions about what is idioms and the meaning of some idiom
examples.
G. Assignment/Homework
The students will be asked to give sentences using idioms.
