1. Costume Ideas & Costume Analysis
I have been analysing the models on many different house music magazines,
particularly the models featured on Mixmag’s front covers. As my model chosen for
my own magazine is a girl I was looking at what the female models wear and I
gathered that they tend to wear leather/bomber jacket with a dress; the models look
quite flashy. Other models are in bikinis as they are promoting Ibiza and generally
models have quite a lot of skin on show. Using Mixmag as my main inspiration I
decided to dress my model in a crop top; showing a little bit of skin like the models,
and a leather jacket because this is very suiting to the style of music and the lifestyle
associated with house music. As you can see in this picture of my model, she has her
midriff showing and a little bit of skin where her jacket is slightly hanging off her
shoulder. My aim was to not make the picture look too posed and more natural
because most of the models on house music magazine covers stand quite naturally.
Models tend to have their hair down also not styled much, it seems quite natural and
sits naturally over their face and shoulders. They all wear makeup however it is quite
minimal, again quite a natural look without eyeshadow or anything.
Male models also dress similarly to women in the way they look quite stylish
however, males dress smarter than women in the way that we will often see them in
a suit or a t-shirt with a blazer, however sunglasses are normally worn to maintain
the house music vibe.
