• Examples of these new styles are Progressive rock
and Psychedelic rock
• The Beatles also introduced the american ‘British
Invasion’ in which british artists became immensely
popular in the US

• Vinyls were the most popular form of music
distribution in the 1960’s, with 78 rpm records being
very popular with artists.
• EP’s were extremely popular at the time, especially
in europe.
• The 1960’s also introduced many new forms of
sound enhancement, including stereophonic sound,
which became increasingly popular when used on
LP’s in the mid to late 1960’s

5. Fashion
• The 1960s saw the introduction of the mini-skirt - a
very short thigh-length skirt. This skirt was a big deal
for many women, as it gave them the freedom they
had always wanted, women became more confident
in themselves and felt more independent
• Patterns and bold colours became popular for fabric.
• The 1960’s was a major time for the hippie
movement, and fashion at the time reflected this.
