Informing Improvements and Programming>>>>>>>
> Develop a customized engagement approach for
each site
> Reach as many residents as possible
> Take a grass-roots, bottom-up approach
> Utilize approaches that are both traditional (e.g.,
community meetings) and non-traditional (e.g.,
prototyping, interactive events, etc.)
Community Engagement
> Strengthen or create community groups
> Develop a customized capacity building plan for
community groups (e.g., friends, advisory
councils, civic associations, CDCs, etc.)
> Offer a set of skill building and capacity
building resources to address the specific needs
of community groups (e.g., leadership,
fundraising, outreach, meeting facilitation, etc.)
Strengthening Community Capacity
19. "People in this community have a family
connection to it [Happy Hollow]...a
program, the facility, it is only as good as
the people who are here."
