2. INTRODUCTION
• “TREAD CYCLE “ – combination of treadmill and bicycle
• Treadmill in gym is stationary. Using treadmill on same place
without any exposure to natural atmosphere is getting bored.
• Also for travelling small distances use of fueled vehicles will cause
unnecessary fuel consumption and pollution.
• Solution for these type of problems is providing wheels to treadmill
and concept is termed as ‘walking bicycle’.
• Bicycle modified completely, Treadmill placed in between two
wheels. User walks or runs on treadmill, belt moves to rear thus
motion can achieved.
2
4. OBJECTIVE
• Design a treadmill bicycle
• Fabricating the mechanism
• Review the total performance.
• Checking for the stability
• Reduce the emission
4
6. • The idea of walking bicycle was developed by a Dutch inventor Bruin
Bergmeester. [1]
• Lopifit is a company that makes walking bicycles but it requires battery
and motor.
• As the rider walks, sensors register the turning treadmill and kick the
motor into gear to assist the movement and set the wheels in motion.
• 1 Hour bicycling burns around400 - 450 calories.[2]
• But 1 hour walking on treadmill burns 750 – 800 calories.
• Running, walking on treadmill is weight bearing exercise which burns
more calories and it is good for the Bone mass. [2]

8. EXPERIMENT DETAILS
• Here our concept is to make the product
which is completely depends on muscle
power or purely mechanical. [4]
• The treadmill belt moves when someone
walks, it rotates the roller .
• The rear wheel is connected to roller via
chain and sprocket thus the wheel rotates.
• By using suitable gears the speed is
increased.
8
9. • The gears present in it provide us
the speed which is required for
travelling faster.[5]
• In future we can modify this
according to various technology.

17. • Advantages are:
• Less effort than convectional bicycles. [3]
• Exercise
• Fuel saving
• More Calories is burned.
• Eco friendly
• Pedestrians in large campuses can take benefit from this product.
• It can be used as an indoor locomotive device infrastructure with
large roof span i.e. malls, warehouse, open markets.
• If coupled with a dynamo we can charge a battery.
ADVANTAGES
17
18. • Cant used in hilly area
• Only for urban uses
18
DISAVANTAGES
19. FUTURE SCOPE
•Can be worked with solar energy
•Light weight materials can be used
•More gears less effort
•Hub motors on wheel
•Additional exercising accessories can be fitted
19
20. • Concept is designed and fabricated
• Testing and analysis of project was successful with
expected result
• It is founded that riding in hilly areas is difficult & it can be
rectified by implementing electrical motor or gear system
• Using this we could able to burn more calorie than
convectional bicycles
