You think you’ve finally found the right marketing firm for your company. You’ve done your research and they seem
like the perfect match; they offer the services you need and the price is right. Time to sign the contract, right? Not
so fast! Before you sign on the dotted line, consider these 3 things your potential marketing firm might NOT be
telling you.
They probably provided you with a list of all the services they offer and you thought, ‘Wow, they have everything I
need!’ What they probably didn’t tell you is that many of those services are outsourced to contractors or freelance
workers. Which isn’t always bad news, except now you don’t really know who you are working with. You just
spent all that time earning the trust of the firm, and they aren’t even doing the work for you, which ultimately
increases your costs!
Make sure you find out exactly who will be doing the work for your contract before you sign anything.
This way you won’t be blindsided later on.
You don’t need that service you’re requesting.
Solution:
As clients, it can be easy to look at all the shiny services a firm offers and want to use them all. Chances are
though, you probably don’t need to use them all! Some firms might be upfront with you about what you do and do
not need, but many will jump on the opportunity to sell you extra unnecessary services.
Do your homework first. The internet is full of information to help you determine what you really need to
market your company.
We can’t do it all; you will have to put in some effort too.
Solution:
A lot of firms won’t tell you that in order for your marketing strategy to be successful, you have to make an effort too.
Why? Because if they claim to do all the work, they can charge you more! You need to be a part of your strategic
marketing plan every step of the way because no one knows your customers better than you do!
If you haven’t already chosen a marketing firm to work with, pick one that lets you know you will be
involved throughout the process. Already working with a firm? Be sure to make an effort to be in
constant contact with the team working on your campaign!

You’ve done your research and they seem like the perfect match; they offer the services you need and the price is right. Time to sign the contract, right? Not so fast! Before you sign on the dotted line, consider these 3 things your potential marketing firm might NOT be telling you. They probably provided you with a list of all the services they offer and you thought, ‘Wow, they have everything I need!’ What they probably didn’t tell you is that many of those services are outsourced to contractors or freelance workers. Which isn’t always bad news, except now you don’t really know who you are working with. You just spent all that time earning the trust of the firm, and they aren’t even doing the work for you, which ultimately increases your costs! Make sure you find out exactly who will be doing the work for your contract before you sign anything. This way you won’t be blindsided later on. You don’t need that service you’re requesting. Solution: As clients, it can be easy to look at all the shiny services a firm offers and want to use them all. Chances are though, you probably don’t need to use them all! Some firms might be upfront with you about what you do and do not need, but many will jump on the opportunity to sell you extra unnecessary services. Do your homework first. The internet is full of information to help you determine what you really need to market your company. We can’t do it all; you will have to put in some effort too. Solution: A lot of firms won’t tell you that in order for your marketing strategy to be successful, you have to make an effort too. Why? Because if they claim to do all the work, they can charge you more! You need to be a part of your strategic marketing plan every step of the way because no one knows your customers better than you do!
