Hindu College, Kolkata.
 a radical thinker and one of
the first Indian educators to
disseminate Western
learning and science among
the young men of Bengal.
Fakker of Jungheera
 The Fakeer of Jungheera is a long poem by Henry Louis
Vivian Derozio.
 The Fakeer of Jungheera” is the masterpiece creation of
Henry Derozio.
 The central theme of ‘The Fakeer of Jungheera’ is the
ignoble and in human practice of ‘sati’ in the contemporary
orthodox Indian society.
 In The Fakeer of Jungheera ‘Derozio mixed the tantric,
Hindu, mythological, Islamic and Christian tradition.

woman “Nuleeni” became “Sati”.
 She loved Fakeer.
 Nuleeni was the widow and her husband was
dying.
 “nuleeni” compared with newly married
Bride.
 “Her arms is raised,so round,sofair,so
delicate.it look as twere,
Made of soft moonbeams;on her cheek,the
blushes burn,and breath,the speak;The
smail comes from her ruby lips like the sun
rushing from eclipse…”

 The smail comes from her rube lips like the sun
rushing from eclips.
 Behold a young cashmerian girl with cheek of rose
and neck of poem.
 Sure social love dwells not beneath the skies,or it is
like the bird of paradise.
Conclusion
 Finally we may conclude that through
the use of images,and rhymes ,Deozio
has written this poem.
 Nuleeni is protagonist character in this
poem.
 She loved Fakeer thus her love was
very pure and amazing for him.
 But society not accepted her love.
Continue…
 Society torchered Nuleeni much more
and forced her to be a part of SATI
PRATHA.
 In the last of the poem Nuleeni died for
Fakeer in stead of her husband.

  • 2. Henry Derozio:-  Henry Louis Vivian Derozio was an Indian poet and assistant headmaster of Hindu College, Kolkata.  a radical thinker and one of the first Indian educators to disseminate Western learning and science among the young men of Bengal.
  • 3. Fakker of Jungheera  The Fakeer of Jungheera is a long poem by Henry Louis Vivian Derozio.  The Fakeer of Jungheera” is the masterpiece creation of Henry Derozio.  The central theme of ‘The Fakeer of Jungheera’ is the ignoble and in human practice of ‘sati’ in the contemporary orthodox Indian society.  In The Fakeer of Jungheera ‘Derozio mixed the tantric, Hindu, mythological, Islamic and Christian tradition.

  • 5. Character of Nuleeni  She is an upper cast bengali woman.  Nuleeni was protagonist and she is fear to become dying of them.  Derozio was imagines to this pure and innocent woman “Nuleeni” became “Sati”.  She loved Fakeer.  Nuleeni was the widow and her husband was dying.
  • 6.  “nuleeni” compared with newly married Bride.  “Her arms is raised,so round,sofair,so delicate.it look as twere, Made of soft moonbeams;on her cheek,the blushes burn,and breath,the speak;The smail comes from her ruby lips like the sun rushing from eclipse…” Continue…
  • 7. Nuleeni’s beauty  The smail comes from her rube lips like the sun rushing from eclips.  Behold a young cashmerian girl with cheek of rose and neck of poem.  Sure social love dwells not beneath the skies,or it is like the bird of paradise.
  • 8. Conclusion  Finally we may conclude that through the use of images,and rhymes ,Deozio has written this poem.  Nuleeni is protagonist character in this poem.  She loved Fakeer thus her love was very pure and amazing for him.  But society not accepted her love.
  • 9. Continue…  Society torchered Nuleeni much more and forced her to be a part of SATI PRATHA.  In the last of the poem Nuleeni died for Fakeer in stead of her husband.
