Preparing for constructivist teaching- learning
- Why?
Why do you think you should be trained in constructivist teaching learning.
Today’s education system demands students to create/ construct knowledge on their own and
you can train them to do that only when you are trained at it.
What is our role?
We need to empower learners.
What is constructivist teaching- learning?
Constructivism is the theory that says learners construct knowledge rather than just passively
take in information. As people experience the world and reflect upon those experiences, they
build their own representations and incorporate new information into their pre-existing
knowledge.
Example- Measurement, Pronoun, Adjectives etc, Battle of Shivaji Maharaj.
Promoting Self Learning
Steps-
1. Selection of self learning material
* Printed self learning material
* Reading passages in textbook with the set of questions
* Slide presentation
* Activity Sheet
* Conducting experiments
* Competing worksheet with the help of pictures, specimens, charts, maps etc.
2. Brief introduction and assignment of activity
3. Self learning by students with the help of printed self learning material.
4. Quick feedback about comprehension through quiz/questions/activity sheet/concept mapping by
students.
Execution Guidelines
1. 15 to 20 minutes
2. Each lesson carries 10 marks
3. Each student has to execute 1 lesson of each methods, that makes a total of 2 per student.
4. Get your lesson plan checked by teacher educator/ mentor before execution.
5. Write lesson plan in decent handwriting in rough notebook first before finalization.
6. Self learning material should be drafted/ printed properly.
7. Try to join from laptop/ desktop or use two devices if joining from mobile.
8. Practice before you go for final execution.
9. Observe all lessons effectively as we learn many good things from observation.

  • 2. Preparing for constructivist teaching- learning - Why? Why do you think you should be trained in constructivist teaching learning. Today’s education system demands students to create/ construct knowledge on their own and you can train them to do that only when you are trained at it. What is our role? We need to empower learners.
  • 3. What is constructivist teaching- learning? Constructivism is the theory that says learners construct knowledge rather than just passively take in information. As people experience the world and reflect upon those experiences, they build their own representations and incorporate new information into their pre-existing knowledge. Example- Measurement, Pronoun, Adjectives etc, Battle of Shivaji Maharaj.
  • 4. Promoting Self Learning Steps- 1. Selection of self learning material * Printed self learning material * Reading passages in textbook with the set of questions * Slide presentation * Activity Sheet * Conducting experiments * Competing worksheet with the help of pictures, specimens, charts, maps etc. 2. Brief introduction and assignment of activity 3. Self learning by students with the help of printed self learning material. 4. Quick feedback about comprehension through quiz/questions/activity sheet/concept mapping by students.
  • 5. Execution Guidelines 1. 15 to 20 minutes 2. Each lesson carries 10 marks 3. Each student has to execute 1 lesson of each methods, that makes a total of 2 per student. 4. Get your lesson plan checked by teacher educator/ mentor before execution. 5. Write lesson plan in decent handwriting in rough notebook first before finalization. 6. Self learning material should be drafted/ printed properly. 7. Try to join from laptop/ desktop or use two devices if joining from mobile. 8. Practice before you go for final execution. 9. Observe all lessons effectively as we learn many good things from observation.
