•Explain what musical instruments are suitable for individual
age ranges
•Explain a musical activity to do with children 0-5

•Adapt appropriate experiences from their childhood in music
sessions with young children
Some students will be able to:
•Explain what each musical instrument can be used for on their
collage explaining a range of ways

In pairs decide how you could encourage listening through
music?
Listening skills
• Giving children rain makers, noisy sensory bottles,
household objects that make noise can encourage
listening.
• Using music to help them to sleep or as background
music in their play area can encourage listening.
• Clapping and body percussion can develop listening
• Pointing out environmental sounds can encourage
listening
Create:
• Create an information card on A5.
• The card will be to handed to parents in the baby room with 2
activities they can do with their children at home to
encourage listening. Describe the activity and explain how it
will encourage listening.
• These are for parents so please make them professional and
exciting!

Musical game
1. As a group please write the alphabet on A4
pieces of paper
2. Push all the tables and chairs around the side
of the room so you have a large space
3. Using the masking tape stick the individual
letters around the classroom on the floor in no
order, with space around each letter
4. You tutor will play some music when the music
stops you have to run to the letter that she
shouts
