9. CROSS MEDIA CONVERGENCE
⢠One way in which The Inbetweeners movie used cross media
convergence to gain publicity was by simply getting the cast to
speak to Absolute Radio. This podcast involved fans being able
to purchase the interview on iTunes for no set price, just to be
able to hear all four main characters talk about the film and
express there opinions on the film. As this took place at a
similar time to the movie release it allowed the companies to
gain larger profits and a wider audience as radio stations tend
to be played in the car and on the internet.
10. SYNERGY
⢠Synergy is basically releasing different forms of non media related products at the same time
as the film release to gain a larger profit. The Inbetweeners Movie used synergy in a variety
of ways to make the audience wider and give the film generally a lot larger popularity. The
Inbetweeners was already a TV series which already gave them an audience to start with;
however they wanted to widen the audience through the movie.
⢠They released a yearbook which promoted the inbetweeners by allowing fans to have a book
that had information about all the cameras and different things that took place in and out of
there school life.
⢠There was also a competion entry on the channel four website where you had a chance to
win a tablet as well as the âPussay Patrolâ t-shirt. There are many sites on line where you can
purchase these t-shirts and this is forms of promotion for the business.
⢠There was also a premiere like many popular films. The premiere was literally days before
the release where actors and production teams and anyone who was involved in the film get
together to celebrate the release. Fans can watch as they go into the cinema and even win
or purchase tickets to see it.
