Primarily cultivated as an ornamental shrub and for erosion control.
The leaves and flowers are used as fodder.
This species has also medical uses such as a febrifugal, antidiarrheal and
antidysentery remedy and it is also used as an astringent.
The bark is used for dyeing and tanning.
The wood is used for making fuelwood.
