Working Title:
Warfare of Ages.
What is it called? This can change if you think of something better later
Product’s Purpose:
To entertain bored people who play online flash games.
What is the product’s purpose (entertain/educate etc.) and how will you achieve this?
Genre:
An online flash game about an imaginary war in a fantasy world.
What sort of product is it
Content
My game will include fantasized medieval characters and is set in a world very similar to
our own. Many features of the world used in my game will resemble the real world. The
game will be set almost in an alternate universe in which monsters exist but not humans.
There will not be much of a plot due to the game being one long mission of conquest
against the enemy opposite you. The concept of my game will bare a striking resemblance
to the extremely popular flash game: Age of War in the respect that it is a scrolling defense
game in which the player has the ability to create hi/her own army and defeat the enemies
that are attacking. As in Age of War, there will be an array of different units to use in a
compact and simple menu that clearly states what units there are on offer in that particular
time period. As you could probably gather from both the title and the last sentence, the
game is going to span more than one time period. The ages will include its own alternate
versions of the stone age, the bronze age, the gold age and finally finishes in a recreation
of the ‘medieval’ period. Both the enemy and the player’s bases will have buy-able turrets
that can be placed onto them and give the team a defensive edge and help deplete the
health of the enemy soldiers. the unit types will work in a ‘rock, paper, scissors’ fashion
and therefore will consist of three classes: Ballistics, warriors and Mounted units. Ballistics
will be strong against mounted units but weak vs warriors, warriors will be strong against
ballistics but weak vs mounted and mounted units will be strong against warriors but weak
vs ballistics. Each kill gives the player some coins and Exp. The coins are to buy more
units and turrets to use (turrets limited to 2). The Exp will be to advance to the next time
period or ‘age’ (there will obviously be a pretty high requirement of Exp to move up to give
the player some time to get to know the units before they move on. What is your product
about? Discuss what you would put in it (be specific). Does it have a story? If so, discuss it here
Audience: My audience will be young teenage malesthat are into war games and strategy
games. They will also have to have an open mind and like fantasy as there will be plenty of
aspects in the game that most likely would not make sense to most people.
My project would appeal to that type of person because it will be out of the ordinary and
almost unique in it’s visual style as it has aspects of many games all mashed up into one.
Who is your audience? Be very detailed; age, gender, social status, psychographic etc
Why would your project appeal to this person?
Research and Planning: I will use the genres I have been researching. For example, thanks
to my research, I now know that I want to create a scroller base defense game. I also know
that I want to make it a pixelated style. I have taken inspiration for many of my ideas in this
proposal from a lot of different defense games already in the flash game library. This would
also be a good thing because if done right it will attract fans of every type of game I have
been inspired by and will hopefully create a merged fan base (if this was real of course).
What elements of your research and planning will you use in your final production?
Where will you use your research and planning in your final production?

Legal & Ethical Considerations: As far as I am concerned, there are no offensive aspects to
my game design. I will not restrict younger people from accessing it because it is not gory,
there is no blood or anything of the kind, It won’t even be humans in the game - just objects
and monsters. The fantasy theme subtracts from the violence and makes it seem more of a
fun game. In my opinion, there is no possibilities of offending anyone due to the game
being a fantasy world in which the characters will bare little if no resemblance to people in
our world. To create some of my characters, I may take pictures of logos or existing
characters (etc: snapchat logo) for inspiration or to be an outline for a character in the
making. My product will include similar aspects but no parts of the game will be directly
ripped from any other games in existence.
Think about any offensive material you will include?
Will you restrict younger people using/accessing it?
Will it offend any social groups/religions/ethnicities?
How will you ensure you do not offend anyone?
Are you using characters/names/logos of existing products/IPs?
Will you product be sufficiently different from existing products to not get sued for copyright
infringement?
