SHARKY’S BOX OFFICE AND GAME ROOM MANAGER
Job Title: Sharky’s Box Office & Game Room Manager– for Paid Internship or Certified Internship
Program (CIP) Credit– On Campus
Number of Openings: 1
Work Schedule: Flexible daytime, evening and weekend hours (typically 13-16 hours per week, but the
maximum is 20 hours)
Wage: $10.00 per hour
Employment Start Date: February 1, 2016
Employment End Date: December 2016 with potential for extension of position through graduation from
UNCW
Supervisor: Sandra Jackson, Film Program Coordinator for Campus Life Arts & Programs
Job Description: The Sharky’s Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations, sales,
programming, and marketing of Sharky’s Game Room & Box Office. The Sharky’s Manager supervises the
Sharky’s Associates. This position also serves the overall Campus Life department.
 Must attend Campus Life Manager Retreat in May 2016, Dates TBA.
 Must assist with Campus Life Training in August 2016 and January 2017
 Must conduct Sharky’s area training for Sharky’s Associates in August 2016 and January 2017

Specific Responsibilities:
 Recruit, hire, supervise and evaluate staff members
 Coordinate and facilitate all staff meetings
 Oversee staff scheduling for shifts, programs, events and marketing
 Assign staff individual weekly tasks to be completed during their shifts, including program planning
and marketing duties
 Hold employees accountable for all actions on duty and act as a positive role model for staff
 Plan, implement and assess Sharky’s staff trainings
 Facilitate Sharky’s staff meetings every three weeks
 Ensure that staff conducts appropriate cash management for the table games, concessions and ticket
revenue
 Ensure that equipment is checked out and checked-in according to established procedures
 Keep equipment and furnishings clean, maintained and in good working order
 Ensure that venue and storage areas are kept clean, orderly and safe
 Conduct concessions inventory and place weekly orders for concessions
 Correspond with Aramark representative to secure concessions invoices
 Update inventory costs to determine profitable pricing
 Work with supervisor to place orders for games, equipment and supplies
 Oversee event development, implementation, and marketing
 Market venue to UNCW offices and student organizations for event rental
 Ensure that staff is aware of upcoming reservation and event details in order to facilitate customer
service
 Coordinate the development of Lumina event PowerPoint ads advertising images to post outside of
Sharky’s
 Coordinate the development of PowerPoint ads to promote Sharky’s Box Office services and events
 Conduct a daily review of staff logs, spreadsheets and deposit information submitted through
SharePoint
 Complete weekly staffing reports to verify accuracy of Time Clock records
 Complete weekly sales reports on Pool House Manager to track membership sales, concession sales
and game usage
 Provide PoolHouse Manager data and contribute observations for semi-annual and annual reports
 Update the Sharky’s manuals, as needed
 Attend weekly meetings with the professional supervisor and maintain regular contact via emails
and texts
 Attend Campus Life Manager meetings twice a month
 Assist in the planning, implementation, and assessment of the departmental trainings
 Participate in all mandatory area and department student staff meetings and trainings
 Maintain a neat and professional appearance during all shifts; a name tag and staff shirt will be
provided by Campus Life
 Respond to emergencies following established Campus Life procedures Adhere to the Campus Life
Student Employee Manual and UNCW’s Code of Student Life
 Other duties as assigned
Note: Due to the unpredictable nature of our customer-driven demand, this position may be required to work
additional hours in order to achieve readiness for our customers.
Qualifications:
 Must be a registered undergraduate or graduate degree-seeking student, and must have a minimum
2.5 GPA to be eligible for, and continue, employment with Campus Life.
 Experience in a customer service environment
 Experience with credit card and cash register transactions
 Leadership experience, whether through employment or volunteer activities
 Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
 Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with others
 Ability to problem-solve and perform duties independently
 The desire to work with and supervise peers
 Positive attitude and strong work ethic
 Enthusiasm for gaming, movies and campus events
