KEY ACHIEVEMENTS
 Gained 100% in a Mechanics Assignment in my second year at Warsash Maritime Academy and a distinction in
Maths. This allowed me to achieve a very good overall grade and also had a photo placed in the Nautilus
Telegraph newspaper in recognition of my enjoyment of the HND course offered to me at the Academy.
 Updated and currently maintaining a member’s computer database for a local social club. Imputing various data
and retrieving relevant information on a quarterly basis for the clubs manager.
 Acted as a Millennium Volunteer in Beverley helping in the community working with young people who were
having problems at home or school and in the local newspaper to show recognition of the CL&CGB band which I
took part in whilst on a trip to Europe in the memory of fallen heroes.
 Gained an award for my organisation skills within Somerfield Company. Reorganised the backroom shelves to
create more space and to have more options available to customers on the shop floor.

Marine Surveyor
 Surveying on behalf and representation of P&I Clubs and their insured. Job role includes: Conducting Off-
Hire/On-Hire bunker surveys, flat rack surveys, supervising break-bulk/heavy lift shipments including design of
stowage and lashing plans, investigating and protecting P&I Club’s interests (vessel owners, operators and
charterers) and advising an action plan, mitigating P&I Club and insured losses, steel product Pre-Shipment
inspections, hold inspections and hatch surveys, Hull and Machinery including Engine Damage surveys organising
meetings to conduct and establish joint investigative surveys, submitting formal reports upon completion of
surveys.
 Area of specific experience - Conducting extensive radiation inspections to determine the absence of artificial
isotopes in accordance with EU Directive 96/29/Euratom.

 Ability to laminate, fabricate and construct basic moulds out of a variety of different types of fibre glass and resin
mixes whilst complying with corporate standards and health and safety guidelines. Also proficient in reading job
specified engineering drawings to perform the above tasks.
 Perform duties assigned to me by my team leader as an individual and team member. Roles on tank construction
include constructing and fitting flanges/stubs, laminating brackets of laminate or steel type, fitting ladders and
painting. Recently completed a large scale order for leading international company Sadara which was recognised

General
 Perform any and all such duties as may be assigned by the Staff Engineer Officer, the Senior 1st
Engineer Officer,
and/or other senior management. Whilst ensuring all operational and maintenance records are correctly recorded
and up-to-date.
 Work with the Engine Storekeeper and relevant engine staff to identify specific parts ensuring that sufficient
stocks of spare parts/tools are maintained on-board for their area of responsibility.
 Socialise and mix with guests in a courteous manner as required. In addition, offering technical support to
Passenger Services and Deck Departments as required, ensuring the company’s exceptionally high standards of
customer care are maintained.

Watchkeeping
 Engage in watchkeeping and maintenance duties in the engine room on a rotation basis with other 3rd

Officers whilst keeping the officer of the watch on the bridge advised of any technical problems, which may affect
the safe navigation of the vessel.
 Responsible, assisted by the motorman on watch, for the safe and efficient operation of all main and auxiliary
machinery and associated equipment. Directed by the senior officer of the watch, including monitoring all
operating parameters in the engine control room/engine room to ensure plant is operating at optimum performance.
Including the control and maintenance of passenger services (i.e. fresh water, sanitary systems, electrical supplies,
HVAC, swimming pools etc…)
Daily Duties
 Under the direction of the Senior 1st
Engineer Officer, assist in running the day to day maintenance of the engine
room using good engineering practice.
 Supervise the engine fitters and wipers, organise engine overhauls and services, all routine and unscheduled
maintenance to machinery, providing back up to the other technical departments as required.

 Gained the ability to work independently on various watchkeeping operations including taking over/handing over a
watch, conducting rounds of the machinery space and taking a daily log.
 Learnt how to answer basic alarms, work on purifiers, air compressors and take boiler water tests. Conducted
regular maintenance on a variety of different pumping equipment.
 Helped with bunkering operations to a level of understanding which also involved active participation. Also
conducted and actively took part in weekly on-board safety drills and aware of any other safety responsibilities
associated with the position.
 In my final year at Warsash Maritime Academy, my group and I had to develop a professional business plan on the
computer (including design software - Rhino) for a product which could improve sea life in any way - may that be
from safety to mechanical. This has given me an insight into the business and financial side of engineering.
Work Experience/Voluntary work
Throughout my working life I have had various roles and responsibilities through voluntary and part time work. This work
experience has helped me develop as a person and provided me with opportunities to challenge myself allowing me to gain
many different skills. I have previously worked in customer service which has allowed me to develop communication and
people skills. I have also worked as a cleaner and had experience in a job with long hours. Cleanliness is vital in engineering
to reduce unnecessary risks and working long hours during shift patterns has given me stamina and endurance. These
transferable skills will benefit my future career in any industry.
I have also been actively involved in The Church Lads and Church Girls Brigade Beverley as a member and leader since the
age of 5. I became a warrant officer in the organisation in 2014; this gave me many responsibilities such as helping other
members, leading workshops and organising events. I was also part of their marching band for many years which gave me
the opportunity to travel the UK and Europe taking part in competitions meeting different nationalities and experiencing
other cultures. Throughout my time in the organisation I have learnt valuable life and transferable skills. I also achieved a
most likeable person award when I was 14. The award normally goes to the older generation but I achieved this 4-5 years
early.

like spending time with my family. Other interests include most forms of motor racing, reading, watching movies and
general relaxation. I am also a full member of Beverley Leisure Centre where I go swimming twice a week and gym three
times per week.

I have also been actively involved in The Church Lads and Church Girls Brigade Beverley as a member and leader since the age of 5. I became a warrant officer in the organisation in 2014; this gave me many responsibilities such as helping other members, leading workshops and organising events. I was also part of their marching band for many years which gave me the opportunity to travel the UK and Europe taking part in competitions meeting different nationalities and experiencing other cultures. Throughout my time in the organisation I have learnt valuable life and transferable skills. I also achieved a most likeable person award when I was 14. The award normally goes to the older generation but I achieved this 4-5 years early.
