Leading Weapons Engineer, HMS Daring Oct 2012 – May 2015
Acting as a section head, ensuring HMS Daring is navigationally safe to proceed to sea, whilst being fully accountable for a multi-million pound
inventory.
The first destroyer in a new Type 45 or Daring class of air-defence vessels, required significant engineering support in cutting edge technologies.
- Maintained command management, electronic warfare and navigational systems on board during the ship’s 9-month global deployment
- Conducted preventative and corrective maintenance as required. Investigated defects and ordered supplies and spares accordingly, arranging
delivery via port or helicopter based on operational urgency.
- Attended and contributed to meetings to discuss issues and determine the best courses of remedial action. Briefed senior officers on effects of
loss of equipment on operational capabilities.
- Utilised spare capacity by overseeing the management and discipline of 24 sailors in on-board living spaces.
- Organised ships society activities whist in foreign ports, liaising with local people.
Key Achievement: Successfully served on an extensive nine-month global deployment during 2013.
Professional Development Secondment, HMS Collingwood Sep 2011 – Oct 2012
Undertook a 12-month engineering qualifying course, whilst improving professional leadership skills learnt through the Royal Navy Leadership Academy.
- Studied various electrical engineering role specific modules in a full time 12-month course, gaining formal qualifications enabling promotion.

undertook arduous field training exercises on Salisbury plain.
