Task 1: Routine preventative treatment
To complete both parts of this task, you will need research preventative treatment.
a) Describe in your own words how preventative treatment works. Provide one
example.
Preventative treatment prevents diseases
and infectious parasites by giving vaccines
and diagnostics. Vaccines are given before
the animal shows symptoms of the
infection or disease. Treatment is given
through drops, injections and even tablets.
Kennel Cough is one example of the many
diseases preventative treatment can stop. A
nasal spray is used to stop kennel cough.

Task 2: Current animal welfare legislation and effect on daily regimes
To complete this task, you need to complete the box below. The details of the act
must include which animals are covered and which organisation enforces the act.

Management Centre. The Animal Management Centre houses mammals,
birds, reptiles, fish and amphibians. On a computer, create a Word Document
following the same format as shown below. You must clearly specify your
chosen animal.
In this document, state each of the Five Needs and describe, in detail, how
each is met for the animal section you have chosen. Once you have finished,
print this document out and attach it securely to your assignment brief.
You must electronically save your work, either on your computer or pen drive.
Task 4: Creating a health management plan for a group of animals
This task requires you to choose one (1) animal group from the following:
 Mixed sex group of six Ring-tailed lemurs (Lemur catta)
 Three female rabbits (Oryctolagus cuniculus)

over three months. The management plan should be created using a table
format.
This must cover:

 Preventative treatments
