1. Leptospirosis
Leptospirosis is a spiral shaped bacteria which burrow in the skin and infect the
bloodstream. This bacteria spreads through the entire body, reproducing in the liver, kidney,
eyes, reproductive systems and central nervous system. If unsolved, infection of the blood
can occur, as well as a strong fever. This bacteria can be extremely fatal once it reaches the
kidney or liver. Some of the most serious symptoms are stiffness in muscles, which can lead
to weakness and soreness, depression and diarrhoea. Dogs will typically get this bacteria
when coming into contact with infected water when drinking or swimming, soil, mud or
coming into contact with urine from infected animals.
