It will cover 100 cities and its duration is 5 year(FY2015-16 to FY2019-20).

7. Criteria of Smart City Selection:-
Inter State
Competition
• Letters to all state government to short list all potential Smart Cities.
• Number of Smart cities distributed across States/UTs by the MoUD.
All Indian
Competition
• List of 100 smart cities announced .
• Each potential Smart city prepares its proposal assisted by a consultant(from a
panel prepared MoUD) and a Hand-holding agency.
Final
Evaluation
• Stage 2 proposal submitted. Evaluation by pannel
• Smart City declared. Selected city are setup by SPV and start implementation
