1. Thursday
A: Analyze the Learner
The class is made up of 25 eleventh grade students, 12 boys and 12 girls. These students are special
education students as three have ADHD and two have a reading disability. Seventy percent of the
students are white while thirty percent are African-American.
S: State Objective
The students will be able to know and apply amendments seven and eight of the Bill of Rights through
the use of class lecture, discussion and a WebQuest designed for application of these two amendments
with 100 percent accuracy at the end of the day.
S: Select Methods, Media and Materials
There will be one main method used to ensure 100 percent accuracy of knowledge of the seventh and
eighth amendments. This method used will be a WebQuest designed by the teacher for the students to
access at the beginning of class. Throughout the week the amendments have been taught by lecture
and subsequent discussion, however, today’s lesson will involve student research and group teaching.
U: Utilize Media and Materials
The goal of 100 percent accuracy will be attained with the use of the WebQuest assignment. Students
will be instructed to work in groups assigned by the teacher. The students will access the WebQuest on
school computers and follow the links provided to ensure quality work on the assignment. Links in the
WebQuest come from careful research by the teacher to ensure quality material.
R: Require Learner Participation
The class will participate in this WebQuest assignment by being placed in groups formed by the teacher.
One group strategy is to place students who aren’t performing well with students who are performing
well with incentives to get good grades on the assignment. With this incentive, students will work hard
to teach their group members, thus teaching the concept of humility and selflessness by providing
students the opportunity to help one another. Students will access the WebQuest, follow the links and
finish the assignment with a final presentation on different applications of these two amendments.
E: Evaluate and Revise
Prior to the beginning of the lesson I will ensure that the WebQuest provided and the website is working
properly. As the students work I will assess their researching and group work as they collaborate and
form a final product. Revisions might include assigning each group with a different application so as to
avoid multiple groups using the same applications in their presentations. Another revision may be to fix
the groups that have been randomly assigned. The ultimate assessment of this lesson is during the final
presentation to see how the students utilized the WebQuest to learn and teach one another about the
subject. Students will be assessed on how they helped their group members and how they present the
material to the class in a clear, applicable and relevant manner.
