1. Wednesday
A: Analyze the Learner
The class is made up of 25 eleventh grade students, 12 boys and 12 girls. These students are special
education students as three have ADHD and two have a reading disability. Seventy percent of the
students are white while thirty percent are African-American.
S: State Objectives
Students will be able to know and apply the fifth and sixth amendments in the Bill of Rights with 100
percent accuracy through the use of class lecture, discussion and two YouTube videos on the fifth and
sixth amendments by the end of the day.
S: Select Methods, Media and Materials
Three methods will be used to ensure 100 percent accuracy. First, students will hear a brief lecture on
the two amendments. Second, students will view two YouTube videos featuring attorneys explaining
the fifth and sixth amendments. Finally, students will participate in a class discussion, asking and
answering questions among themselves and with the teacher.
U: Utilize Media and Materials
The goal of 100 percent accuracy will be attained with the help of two YouTube videos. The first brief
video features attorneys giving their explanation of the fifth amendment and Miranda rights. The
second features one attorney explaining the seven parts to the sixth amendment. These videos will
prompt students into discussion because the attorneys tell about immediate applications of these rights.
R: Require Learner Participation
The students will participate by watching and commenting on the videos. These videos will lead into a
class discussion. When it comes to rights dealing directly with the legal system, students are sure to
have many questions. Because a helpful learning environment will be encouraged, students will be
encouraged to answer one another’s questions.
E: Evaluate and Revise
Before the lesson begins I will make sure the links to the YouTube videos are working properly. During
the playing of the two videos I will observe the class to see who is taking notes and actively listening to
the applications being explained. During the class discussion, assessment will be made of who is
participating with their personal applications and questions on the subject.
