A: Analyze Learner
The class is made up of 25 eleventh grade students, 12 boys and 12 girls. These students are special
education students as three have ADHD and two have a reading disability. Seventy percent of the
students are white while thirty percent are African-American.
S: State Objectives
The class will know the rights protected in the first and second amendments of the Bill of Rights with the
help of the class Facebook and Twitter accounts, a poster on the first amendment and a blog on an
application of the first amendment.
S: Select Methods, Media and Materials
Four methods will be used in order to accomplish a success rate of 100 percent in teaching the first two
amendments of the Bill of Rights. First, a brief introduction to the Bill of Rights and how it came about
will commence. Students will see a picture of George Washington at the Constitutional Convention
displayed on the Smartboard in the background (this is humorous and will provide a positive vibe for the
upcoming lesson). Second, students will access the class Facebook and Twitter accounts in order to
provide out-of-school interaction with the teacher and view links on the subject. Second, students can
observe a poster displayed on the class’s Smartboard displaying five applications of the first
amendment. Finally, students will follow a QR link to view a blog for homework reading on the first
amendment.
U: Utilize Media and Materials
The goal of 100 percent accuracy will through the use of class discussion and the social media accounts.
After a brief lecture on the first two amendments, students will be asked how the amendments apply to
them. During the discussion the class can view the poster on the Smartboard in the background to help
with application. Discussion doesn’t have to end within the school walls, so students will access the
class social media accounts to discuss further concepts with the teacher. Finally, students will scan the
QR code from the course Twitter account and read the blog on the first amendment application for
homework.
R: Require Learner Participation
The class will participate in discussion about the first two amendment and how they apply in real life.
Outside of class, they will learn on their own with the blog source.
E: Evaluate and Revise
Prior to the beginning of the lecture I will confirm that all social networks to be used are functioning
properly and that the QR link is working. Before the lecture starts, I will make sure my class members
received the class podcast sent out before the course began. The assessment will be done by me
listening to the responses of the students when asked how to apply these two amendments. When I
find that some students are struggling, I will make use of poster in the background. This modification
will take place if necessary to ensure the goal of 100 percent accuracy.
