Animal Farm remains highly significant in today's society. The themes and events in this book are eye opening and thought provoking, relating
well to concerns and struggles in today's world. As a teenager who is part of generation Z, I am concerned about racial inequality, shrinking of the
middle class, political strife, and my generation's role and responsibility for the future. Nearly half a century ago, the Civil Rights Act in 1964 was
passed, aimed to end all discrimination towards race, color, religion, and sex. Now in 2017, in the U.S., I watch the news every night listening to
another tragic story about some innocent African American getting killed by a white policeman. These people are your neighbors, and their daily
lives evolve around the question "Am I going to die today because of my race or color?" The Declaration of Independence states, "We hold these
truths to be self–evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are
Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness." If the Declaration states that we are all equal, why don't we treat each other equally? In Animal Farm, one
of the original commandments of Animalism was "All animals are equal." However, this did not hold true, as Napoleon abused his power. All original
commandments are replaced with one, "All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others." [Orwell 92] Napoleon considers himself

Main Themes In Animal Farm
Animal Farm: Development of Themes Using Characters The book, Animal Farm, authored by George Orwell was first published in 1945 and is a
satire of the Soviet Communism. It depicts how the Soviet leaders were power hungry and corrupt to an extent of forgetting about the state of
living of their subjects. The story of the Animal Farm is based on Manor Farm whereby the owner, Mr. Jones is overthrown by the pigs. This
revolution is inspired by a wise pig, Old Major, who later dies. Upon his death, the condition of living in the farm deteriorated because of the brutal

Her first appearance in the novel shows her character as one who only cares about herself and does not care about the struggles and endeavors of
fellow animals for the good cause of the farm. She comes late for the meeting chewing sugar and takes the front seats so that other animals may
notice her ribbons. In the meeting, Mollie's concerns are whether the new revolution will still provide sugar and ribbons so that she continues her
lifestyle. The character helps in developing the theme of the role of populace. Even though the author blames the fall of animal farm on Napoleon,
he also uses character like Mollie to show why such leaders thrive. Mollie is only concerned with material things and wants to be pampered. She
lacks the political awareness and does not know what is going around in the farm. Such kind of people give no resistance to bad leaders who go about

Animal Farm Essay As a kid, your parents are constantly telling you not to trust what all you read on the internet or to not believe everything your
peers say. It turns out, they'd be correct. The world has a lot of false information threaded through it. As did Animal Farm, coincidentally all of that

Clover many times had questioned these changes to herself, but could not remember if the changes had always been there. Always though,
Squealer and Napoleon would assure everyone that the commandments had never been touched and that they were always the way they were now
(Orwell 88). They had all of the animals convinced, hopefully soon enough the animals would catch on. The original thought for the Animal
Rebellion was that the animals would never be hungry and there would never be a need to worry about food. Eventually though, the feed was
falling short. The pigs wanted to keep this a secret from the others, so they would not worry and regret following through with the rebellion.
Therefore, they filled the bottom of the feed bins with sand and put the feed on top to make it look like the bins were always full (Orwell 76).
Eventually all of these lies would have to catch up with these pigs. This all can relate back to stuff that happens in the world today. For example, we
can not always trust reading publicity magazines, tabloids or entertainment news on television. Most of the time they just need good stories for people
to read, and will make up anything that gets people's attention. Like Napoleon, if it is to their advantage they will use it. Politicians will sometimes
make up lies if it means making themselves look good to the public. They will make promises that they will not always stay true to their word and

Major Themes In Animal Farm
1) Old Major's dream seemed like a great, attainable, new world where everyone is treated fairly. History has shown, repeatedly, that those who
have power, crave more. Napoleon created a Dictatorship, but it was supposed to be a Communist Society. A society can be a utopia if the people
have power, but as soon as someone takes control, the thought becomes more about what he can do for himself then what he can do for his people.
Not all people in power are the same, but everyone has different beliefs, and that can be very confusing when the person in power has to make
decisions. People like Old Major, Marx, are very good at painting what's wrong with the current system but lack the follow through when purposing a

After the revolution, everyone should've realized that while leadership is, and was, helpful in the beginning, it ends up being more trouble than
its worth. Everyone should do the same amount of work and be just as invested in the system, government, as the next person. b) A famous motto
is "World Peace beings at home." which I believe is in companionship to Tolstoy's quote, that we must first look within ourselves for answers.
People have a tendency to look the furthest away from themselves when looking to blame someone/something. It's so easy to see the fault in
something else, but if you think hard you can always find some fault in yourselves. World peace can be achieved when we become the example for
what peace should look like. People follow the examples set by them, so you can't complain about not having world peace if you yourself aren't an
example of what peace should look like. 4) a) If everyone put in an effort to make yours and others lives better, imagine all the positive energy you'd
have. If you live in a negative environment, then your most likely going to be putting out negative vibes, but if you put out positive vibes you'll make

I was walking down the street, facing a moral dilemma, like most kids my age, and I needed help. Instead of working it out with others that knew
the struggle, I went to someone who "knew" the answer. Turns out that they didn't know much about the issue and I ended up making the wrong
choice, potentially messing up something bigger. This happens to connect to the story Animal Farm by George Orwell because in the story
Napoleon wanted full power at the farm and thought he knew how to get it, but Snowball, who was still trying to find how to run the farm
effectively, already left an influence on the animals at the farm. Napoleon then turned the animals against Snowball, which lead to the farm being
run by a dictatorship. With this in mind, the best theme for Animal Farm is, "believe those who are seeking the truth; doubt those who have found
it." A reason that this theme is the best for Animal Farm is because of the way that the farm was run before and after, meaning when Snowball ran
the farm versus when Napoleon ran the farm. Snowball just went with what was best for the farm at times, and he was still learning how to run it
efficiently, but Napoleon "knew" what was best and it turned into a dictatorship. This is shown on page 13, when the Orwell states, "Snowball, who

Animal Farm by George Orwell is a novel where anyone can read and interpret the meaning based on their own knowledge. Even though the novel
initially created to criticize the Russian Revolution, the way this story was written is general where people can read it regardless their age. If 10
years–old read this novel, they may only find this story is a sad tragic animal story, while if an adult read it, even without the knowledge of the history
behind it, they may realize this story has much more meaning to it. So, in my opinion, the message of Animal Farm will come across effectively to

An example would be where he takes the decision to live in a house than in a mere sty like the other animals. Also he dictates that every pig should
receive a pint of beer daily, while he got half a gallon himself which was always served to him in the Crown Derby soup tureen. At times, power can
be a good thing but for people, who cannot handle it and multitask, then they get addicted to it and when people started doubting them, they will do
whatever it takes for them to keep hold of it. The greed of power comes to people naturally and ruins them. Orwell might trying to give the idea if a
person holds too much power and he becomes corrupt, then the whole country is ruined because of that tyrant. There are many more themes in

Can Loyalty Give A Person Too Much Power? A theme in the book Animal Farm, written by George Orwell is the theme loyalty. Loyalty towards an
enemy is a theme in the book Animal Farm due to the animals being loyal to an enemy named Napoleon. A question that is related to the theme of this
book is why were the animals loyal to Napoleon? They were loyal because Napoleon promised things to them and took advantage of them knowing
that the animals had weaknesses. Napoleon was their leader, and they followed his orders no matter what the conditions were. When the windmill blew
down, Napoleon convinced the animals that Snowball had done it and convinced them to re–build it. The reason why Napoleon was in so much power

had so called "worked hard." Napoleon ended up sending Squealer to the house to tell them the new arrangements to the animals. Squealer had told
the animals "Comrades," he said, " I trust that every animal in here appreciates the sacrifice that Comrade Napoleon has made in taking this extra
labour upon himself! Do not imagine, comrades, that leadership is a pleasure" (55). He is trying to convince the animals that Napoleon is doing

Theme Analysis The theme of Animal Farm is not difficult to understand. Orwell intended to criticize the communist regime he saw sweeping through
Russia and spreading to Europe and even the United States. Though he agreed with many Marxist principles, Orwell was unable to accept the

Ridicule was really the only tactic they had left after being scared to death of the Soviet powers after World War II. The real action in the chapter is
when Jones and his men try to recapture the farm. Napoleon and his pig allies had long expected this to happen, so they plan a very extensive defense
strategy. When the Jones crew attacks, they were gored, kicked, bitten, and trampled on. So many of the men die, thus concluding the Battle of the
Cowshed. Chapter 5 Orwell's fifth chapter is an action–packed tale of two animals who leave the farm. First Mollie, who never was too fond of the
whole idea of revolution since it meant she wouldn't have any more sugar lumps, is seen talking to a neighbor man and letting him stroke her nose.

In the novel Animal Farm, many different themes are portrayed as the novel progresses. One major theme that stuck out to me was loyalty. This theme
was portrayed a number of times, and had a huge impact on the storyline itself. The animals are so dedicated and loyal to anything they set their minds

Animal Farm is a beautiful novel about a group of farm animals rebelling against a dictatorship owner and forming their own government. The
theme revolves around how politicians rise to power and become corrupted. This book also majorly focus on how a communist society is formed.
This literature is crafted by George Orwell who's born in Bengal, India and received his education from Eton College. Not only he is a writer, but
he is also a journalist and a critic. He has also written 1984. The reason I chose to read this book is that the idea of farm animals overthrowing and

I read a book called, "Animal Farm" written by George Orwell. The book is about animals on a farm who are overworked, and aren't treated well.
Then, an insurgency made up of animals with pigs as their leaders, rebel against Mr.Jones (owner of the farm) by driving him off his farm. The
animals try to make the perfect life for themselves, but that doesn't go as planned. Animal farm then, starts to fail. The farm fails because of the pigs
not being fair to the other animals, and the animals being too dumb to realize it. The other animals made mistakes, by not speaking up when they

One reason animalism fails, is because of power grabs by animals. There are many examples of this throughout the book. One power grab that
failed animalism, was when the pigs take the milk and the apples for themselves. "So it was agreed without further argument that the milk and
windfall apples (and also the main crop of apples when they ripened) should be reserved for the pigs alone." (P.g 36) This is unfair because the
pigs being selfish, but they are the leader, it immediately grants them permission to do so. This shows why animalism fails because the pigs don't do
anything for the wellbeing of animal farm, they do things only for themselves. Another example of a power grab is when Napoleon (a pig) takes the
puppies so that they will obey and protect him. "It happened that Jessie and Bluebell had both whelped soon after the hay harvest, giving birth
between them to nine sturdy puppies. As soon as they were weaned, Napoleon took them away from their mothers, saying that he would make himself

At the beginning of the 19th century much of Europe viewed Russia as an undeveloped, backward society. The Russian Empire executed serfdom
which is when landless peasants had to serve those who owned land. This went on quite far into the 19th century. Serfdom disappeared in most of the
Europe by 1500.
The Russian Revolution which took place in the year 1917 was an explosive political event that took a direct turn in the way Russia was run. The
intensity of the raging revolution gave Russia it's new form of government – Communism. The end of centuries of Russian Imperial rule in 1917 was a
time to celebrate. The Bolsheviks, led by Vladimir Lenin took over Russia and later became the Communist Party of the Soviet Union.
The book Animal Farm by George Orwell is a highly thought–provoking book filled with political ideas. One of the main ideas in George Orwell's
"Animal Farm" is how each event in it parallels an event in the Russian Revolution of 1917. Orwell, a democratic socialist, was a critic of Joseph
Stalin and hostile to Moscow–directed Stalinism, an attitude that was critically shaped by his experiences during the Spanish Civil War.
Satire is loosely defined as art that ridicules a specific topic in order to provoke readers into changing their opinion of it. Animal Farm is a great

The themes and events in this book are eye opening and thought provoking, relating well to concerns and struggles in today's world. As a teenager who is part of generation Z, I am concerned about racial inequality, shrinking of the middle class, political strife, and my generation's role and responsibility for the future. Nearly half a century ago, the Civil Rights Act in 1964 was passed, aimed to end all discrimination towards race, color, religion, and sex. Now in 2017, in the U.S., I watch the news every night listening to another tragic story about some innocent African American getting killed by a white policeman. These people are your neighbors, and their daily lives evolve around the question "Am I going to die today because of my race or color?" The Declaration of Independence states, "We hold these truths to be self–evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness." If the Declaration states that we are all equal, why don't we treat each other equally? In Animal Farm, one of the original commandments of Animalism was "All animals are equal." However, this did not hold true, as Napoleon abused his power. All original commandments are replaced with one, "All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others." Main Themes In Animal Farm Animal Farm: Development of Themes Using Characters The book, Animal Farm, authored by George Orwell was first published in 1945 and is a satire of the Soviet Communism.
