• Operative and essential procedures conducted in ED & during hospital stay
• Essential procedures are those that were essential to the diagnosis, stabilization,
or treatment of the patient’s specific injuries or complications.
• Procedures required by ATR are at minimum the life and limb saving
procedures with the following exceptions:
• Include diagnostic imaging studies (cat scans, MRIs, arteriograms)
• Plain radiographs not required
• Except 3-view c-spine and skeletal survey (child abuse)
• Facility may want

need to be listed as procedures (NTDB requirement)
• Capture all procedures performed in the operating room.
• Procedures performed multiple times during one episode of hospitalization
