2. Learner' Experience
• Clearly define what and how the student
needs to proceed with
– Registration/enrolment
– Login
– Access to course
– Activities/resources
– Live sessions
– Assessments
– Success to next module
3. Tabula Rasa
• Human mind is like "Tabula Rasa"
– A clean slate or a blank tablet
– We learn by coming in contact with the
physical world or spoken or written ideas of
other people
• When teaching, do not assume that the
children know what you know
– Causes difficulty in understanding for children
– Your hard work is not fruitful
4. Interactivity and Feedback
• Promote active learning
• Independence of thought
• Problem solving
• Foster communication and interaction
– Learner-content
– Learner-instructor
– Learner-to-learner
• Allow for frequent and meaningful
feedback on learner progress
5. Planning and Analysis
• Demonstrate a learning plan
– Based on a clear and logical structure and
sequence of learning activities
• Set timelines for the completion of work
• Share schedule of impportant dates
6. Student's Feedback
• Organise content to accept students feedback
• Consider carefully what students say
• Look over the positive things they say
– About You
– About Course
• Then read their suggestions for improvement and
group them into three categories:
– Those you can change Eg: activity, turnaround time
– Those that must wait for completion of OODA Loop
Eg: lesson plan
– Those that you either cannot or, for pedagogical
reasons, will not change. Linked to learning
outcomes. Eg: the number of quizzes or tests.
7. Setting up the right expectations
• Define Negotiable and Non-negotiable Areas:
What an instructor needs to do and what can
be mutual between the instructor and the
learner.
• Clarify the Instructor's Role: Teacher is the
facilitator and the student is made
responsible for their own learning.
• Clarify the Learner's Role as Members of a
Learning Community: Expectations from the
learner, relationship amongst learners and
with the instructor.
