2. WHAT SOCIAL GROUPS DID OUR FILM
REPRESENT
In our film ‘A day aht’ in Sheff’ we use the character of a stereotypical football hooligan. This is someone who likes fighting
and alcohol. We stick to this stereotype as in the film you see the character drink beer and get involved in a fight. The
characters are represented by a long shot as a close knit group. The long shots are used to show the characters are never
far from one another and always have each others backs. We also use iconography such as the clothing. We use Stone
island which is typically represented as something the stereotypical football hooligan would wear. In the film we use music,
The music we use is called “Safe and warm in hunter’s arms” the song can be placed under the genre of indie. This music is
typically represented with young adults which is another social group which we tried to represent within the film. We used
fast paced edits in our film to match the pace of the music. This represented the rush and madness of the characters life.
3. A main social group which we represent is males. This is because all characters that are shown
are males and this would have been this case should we have made the entire film. In our film
men are represented as strong and irresponsible. This is due to the characters looking for fights
which they know full well gets them into trouble. This strongly represents a typical male as
most males are seen as the gender who are mostly in control and typically are seen as strong
individuals.
