“Oh GOSH! Reflecting on Hackteria's Collaborative Practices in a Global Do-It...
Local entrepreneurship monitor
1. Local Entrepreneurship Monitor (LEM) is a grassroots entrepreneurship research study initiated
by FAMU alumnus and Visiting Instructor of Entrepreneurship, LaTanya White. The primary
objective of this research effort is to explore and uncover the reasons behind the under-
utilization of existing local business resources by minorities and other socially disadvantaged
classes. Secondarily, the project aims to increase the likelihood that this market will make more
extensive use of these resources.
2. LEM is not organized to duplicate your existing efforts but rather to penetrate the sphere of
influence that your organization may not currently possess with minorities and other socially
disadvantaged classes. The program takes a multi-faceted approach that relies on the authentic,
value-added relationships that White has developed with local and regional business owners.
The program is inspired by the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor, the largest study of
entrepreneurial dynamics in the world.
LEM anticipates initiating multiple impressions to more than 500 qualified leads annually with
following multimodal opportunities beginning October 1, 2013.
eTherapy Sessions- Monthly group sessions designed to uncover challenges to business
growth
Extreme Entrepreneurship Tour- Spreads the entrepreneurial mindset with a high-energy
conference
Office Hours (with Academic Researchers)- Monthly campus visits with academic
researchers to bridge the path to commercialization
Open Book Entrepreneurship Education Series- Continuing Education course open to the
public

4. About LaTanya
Best known for her leadership with 71 Proof, the premier beverage
catering service of the Southeast, LaTanya White is a servant leader at
heart. She is a member of the 27th class of Leadership Tallahassee and
serves on the board for the Big Bend Minority Chamber of Commerce as
well as the Foundation for Leon County Schools. White is the founder of
Concept Creative Group, the parent company of 71 Proof and CCG
Consulting, a firm helping small and start-up businesses move to the
next level. She has served as a Visiting Instructor in the School of
Business and Industry at Florida A&M University where she incorporates
active learning strategies in the Entrepreneurship and Management
courses she teaches. White has served on the judges’ panel for
organizations providing $90,000 in funding to local businesses. She also volunteers with the
United Way of the Big Bend’s Community Human Services Partnership Grant; her participation
has resulted in awarding nearly $500,000 in grant funds to outcomes-based organizations using
local government funding. Her role as a Professor of Entrepreneurship has led to her first foray
into micro-funding by getting outstanding idea concepts through the path of commercialization.
She will be pursuing her doctoral degree in Strategic Management and will be focusing her
research on Minority Propensity for Risk and Innovation. White's personal mission and motto is
"Educate. Engage. Execute".
