Persuasive Speech On Going To College
On August 26, was one of the days that U.W Madison was opening up and letting kids move and sign up for classes for the year. College has been
around even before America was even a country, allowing kids to get a higher education to get their dream job with young adults moving out of their
homes to stay at school for four to eight years. Sometimes taking several hours or the full day to move them every year. If you have a sibling or
family member moving off to college it's always hard to move them out. We have to ask how many kids are planning on going to college? Several kids
want to go, but with the cost of college undeniably raising, fewer kids are going to be able to afford it. Taylor Hurst an eighteen–year–old, has been
accepted to the U.W. See was very excited to be accepted. She was expected because of all the college credits given to her though Spanish class and
many more through the Kimberly High School in Wisconsin.
"Moving her was difficult, we had to pack her up and take a two–hour drive to unpack her. We took all day moving her and she didn't want us to leave."
Her brother Brady Hurst said. A thirteen–year–old boy that is going to need to make the decision in five years. After hours of work packing up her
possessions, they left for Madison to start unpacking into her dorm. Taylor got lucky to get into the U.W Madison, but recently she has thought of
going to a Technical College because she missed her family and it was getting to hard for her. College is a hard

Essay on Returning to College as an Adult
Returning to College as an Adult Coming to college as an adult, we have many expectations and preconceptions of what college will or will not be.
The expectations we have can influence our college life for the better or the worse. My experience since starting college has been an interesting one.
People have misconceptions about college because they do not know what to expect. After doing some research, I have concluded that there are three
major factors that are often misunderstood about college life. The first is the financial aspect of college. Second, is the relationship between the
professors and students. Third is time management. These three factors play an important role in why people are afraid to go down the path to college.

There are many options available from low–tuition state universities, financial aid, employer tuition reimbursement. In some cases, you can be
eligible for various types of grants. Being a single mother or just shopping at a certain supermarket can make you eligible. There is a
misconception about the professors (sometimes called instructors). Questions arise such as; will they make time for me when I need the extra help?
How large will the class be? Will they understand that this may not be as easy for me as it is for others? These questions enter our minds and may
seem discouraging at times. Through my personal experiences I have found that classroom atmospheres may not always be for everyone. However,
that does not mean college life is not for everyone. You can take many alternative routes. You can take advantage of telecourses, online courses,
accelerated courses and many other options that may be more suitable. My professors have been great. They come in earlier to help and return e–mails
and/or phone calls promptly. You also expect to be able to accomplish your work quickly and with minimal stress, leaving more time to work and
spend with your family. You expect to be able to do what you did in high school and still pass. However college, by far, is nowhere as easy as most
anticipate. You have to study, unlike high school, where you could float on by with A's by seldomly attending class. College is harder than high school

Argumentative Essay Nowadays, the ability to attend college is a question for some students in the world. Some people express opinions based on that
every student should go to college because a four–year degree could benefit them a lot for their careers. However, there are also some people believe
that not everyone should go to college because they think college is increasingly expensive and stressful for students. In fact, the two options of
whether going to college or not, have their both sides of good and bad. I would like to say that each student should go to college and finish their
four–year college studies. Based on my point of view, I believe college will provide a lot of benefits to...show more content...
And those people all have opportunities to make our society to become better. Reason being a more educated background is more likely to generate
profits and values. Thus, going to school is the first step of becoming a useful person in the future (Melissa, 2014).
Once students go to college, they will face a totally different life. In school, some students who come from different cities, different states, or even
different countries have to live independently because college students have to take on their own duties of their independent lives. For example, college
students even cook for themselves. It is a good opportunity to make them become more independent. Additionally, self–discipline is another skill that
students will gain in the college. "Practicing self–discipline means accepting control and responsibility". Students in the college need to control
themselves well. Such as, go to bed early, get up early and study industriously. Students may increase positive outcomes if they can match with these
easy requirements (James, p.15). Furthermore, in the busy college life, students will learn how to manage their time properly. They set up a schedule
to organize their daily lives. For example, when final week is coming, they need to know when and how much time they need to review for each exam,
or how much time they need to spend on each assignment. Planning is also a method that enables students to determine their goals and to

Going To College Essay
Going to college has become an extreme controversy because of the expense and debt with which people deal. In "Should Everybody Go to
College," Stephanie Owen and Isabel Sawhill argue whether or not obligating students in going to college is a good idea, since some people cannot
afford the cost or they are not capable of learning in a college environment. Compelling students to go to college should not be the case. People are
told when they are little to make their way to college because that is the way society wants us go. Some careers do not have anything to do with
college and the steep investment it brings. To talk about all these variables, this essay will discuss some of the positives and the negatives of this issue.

In the essay "Are Too Many People Going to College", John Stuart Mill interjects, "Universities are not intended to teach the knowledge required to
fit men for some special mode of gaining their livelihood" (Mill 234). These two arguments are contradictory because a college degree is actually
not teaching you how to have a job. College teaches you the fundamentals of a career, but it does not teach how to get a job or keep a job. My
feelings on whether everybody should go to college are mixed. I do support Sawhill's and Owen's position that college can be a great investment. In
contrast, I find Mill's speech to be equally persuasive. It just depends on how a person views college and its benefits. On the Website "Psychology
Today", Melissa Deuter states that college is for everyone because she feels the diversity at colleges helps with better learning. Deuter goes on to say
"Colleges and universities draw students from diverse backgrounds. Students come from urban and rural areas near and far, and there are commonly
students from a variety of foreign lands. Exposure to cultural diversity can enhance tolerance and international cultural awareness, positives for any
well–adjusted young adult" (Should). Diversity is one way that college is a good investment, but Marc Joseph, from the Huffington Post, would claim
college may not be the best option for everybody. "This weak economy of ours is forcing institutions to limit their

Essay About Moving To College
When reading this prompt I immediately thought of my first day moving into the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. My parents never had the
chance to go to college and when they helped me move in it was a moment that I knew I would remember the rest of my life. For many it is special
but, it wasn't necessarily that I was at college it was more about how I got out of my comfort zone and made it happen. I was never really pushed by
my family to pursue further education. I am the first in my family to go to college and it's honestly a blessing to be able to have the opportunity that
others don't have. I plan on also being the first to graduate in my family from a University. I'm really hoping that I influence my fellow peers and family

Growing up in high school I was molded by work ethic. At only the age of 16 I knew what my plan was for college and I worked hard to save my
money. I skipped all the parties, football games, and late nights doing things that wouldn't contribute to my future. I was in charge of a stain crew from
age 16–19 which wasn't a typical teenagers job after school. I started community college and I was unsure about being a business major because I
had never had a business related position. Eventually I made the bold decision to walk into the sales office to talk with the sales manager about
working with him. Luckily the sales manager liked my determination and spoke with the other employees in administration that knew me, thus
resulting in my new position in sales. I have always believed that if a person wants something enough that it is usually attainable with effort.
Starting my first position in sales confirmed my passion for enriching the lives of others through business. During my Freshman year of college, I
was working the full time sales position and going to college full time. I was only 19 and had 3 years of manger experience and now was selling and
designing log cabins. This was a win–win situation for me and certainly the CEO of the company because I got some great experience and he got a
low cost employee to generate revenue. I lost a lot of friends when I learned how to prioritize reaching my goals and I

Neither my grandmother, nor any of my great aunts, went on to college. It was too expensive for their family. My great Aunt Nancy, however, did try
to take night classes at the University Extension, which was held at her high school. Unfortunately, she was unable to continue paying for these classes,
so she left the University Extension program with only twelve credits earned. Aunt Nancy just continued to work at the job she acquired, right out of
high school, and work her way up through the ranks at this job. There was no push by her parents to continue her education, and therefore, there was
no pressure on her to attend college. Aunt Nancy had once told me, "There is great value in a college...show more content...
"I felt trapped in my first career," my mother explained to me. She knew that in order to pursue another career, going back to college was her only
choice. She wanted to figure out what she was good at, and then maybe go out and apply for a job in that field.
My mother did pull me aside one day and stated that "while an education is very valuable, you don't need to go to college just to get educated." She
was obviously trying to teach me that sometimes people can learn more from their experiences. I try to learn a little something everyday, just by
paying attention to the events that go on in my life. Just the other day, I learned that the hardest thing to do is forgive someone for their
wrongdoings, but God will always forgive, as long as you ask for it. Friends of mine and I got into a big brawl, and I knew I was the one doing
something wrong. I knew that I needed to learn from my mistakes, and ask for forgiveness from the ones I hurt, especially God. I guess that is what
my mother was trying to teach me. She wanted to point out that as long as you learn from your mistakes, you may end up learning more than you
would reading books.
My mother told me how she loved to read when she was younger, but that as you get older it is harder to find time for it. She can remember times
when she would sit outside on the front porch, just reading her books. My mom then

Personal Experience: Going to College Essay
We all have many different routes we want to take after high school. We all get to choose what we want to do with our lives. Some choose to start
working, go to college, or even travel. As for me, I chose to go to college. At first I would not even consider going to college. Overtime I was
encouraged by my parents and college students. That is when I knew it was something I wanted to do. Although many people think that college is a
waste of money, college can help you get a good job, help secure your future, be open to new opportunities, and you can even meet you lifelong
friends. Many people don't want to go to college because it is expensive. They think that it is just a waste of money. They don't realize that it is more

I'm not sure which to choose now, but I will have it figured out. Going to college right after high school will help me answer that question. College will
help you decide what career you love and want to work in. Who knows, you might even end up discovering and taking a career direction you never
thought you'd take. Even if you decide later on in life that you don't want that career anymore, you can just go back to college for a new one. So
later in life if I decide I want to other career path, I can always go back. Growing up, most of us don't really experiment the world around us. We are
in our comfort zone and don't ever leave it. College can give you many opportunities to explore the world and find out who you really are. You can
expand your interests and reach your goals. You can discover things about yourself you didn't know. Getting a college education isn't just about
being able to get a good job. It can help you with so much more that will help you in life. Obviously you won't learn everything in college. But
going can teach you all the basics you need to know about life. It can teach you so many more skills than just those you need to get a job. You get
to the chance to meet new people and get to know them. You meet people of all races, religions, and more. It can help you have a more open mind
about things in life. College is when you can test yourself and see what you can achieve. Let be honest, after

Civil engineering needs a qualified professional degree to get the job done the proper and correct way. It's a four year program that most colleges

Persuasive Essay For Going To College
Once highschool ends, you will think you are already done with school, and you can finally be free, and you are kind of right. However, your
college education should not stop at high school, as high school only teaches you a few things. Going to college will teach things outside of just
learning some basic math and writing formats. College will prepare you for life as well. By going to college, you will earn more, be more
employable due to your accumulation of knowledge, and you will live a healthier life. College is not for everyone, but if you prefer a secure future
then it is suggested to go to college. By pursuing business without a college degree, you could lose all your money and everything you have worked
for at any moment if you are not cautious. With a college degree, you can earn a decent salary with a secure job.
College graduates are more likely to be employed for a job position than an individual who only has a highschool degree. For example in the
article,"Middle Schoolers, Why College?" it states,"Today most good jobs require more than a highschool diploma. They want people who know how
to think and solve problems." Ahigh school diploma is almost meaningless now, high school may have not prepared you for college, so why would
you think it would prepare you for anything beyond that? Also, by attending college you acquire more knowledge and skills in many other fields
which makes you more ideal for a job. In addition, a website had stated,"The unemployment rate for people with a college degree was 2.5%, for the
ones who only had a highschool diploma was 7.7%." As you can tell, people with only a highschool diploma are more likely to be unemployed than a
college student. A college degree can almost assure you on never being unemployed, as people do want someone who knows what their doing and by
going to college they'll know you have been educated above high school level. To sum everything up, if you have a college degree you have a greater
possibility in being hired for a job than someone who only has a highschool degree. However, several jobs do need a college degree in order to apply
for them.
Most people might think college is a cause of unhappiness and depression but its the contrary. In

Going to college allows for many opportunities to open up in life. Society is changing at a very rapid rate. College is a very difficult time for nearly
everyone, as Charles Murray who published an article on should the Obama Generation Drop out also states that "A large majority of young people do
not have the intellectual ability to do genuine college–level work" (95). Attending college is not for everyone, but It can teach you to learn how to
become independent, develop discipline, evolve new life skills, and learn how to balance a social life versus student life. The experiences you
obtain and gain from attending college can lead you to learn how to live your life within the college environment in a way that creates harmony
with who you are. It is a time of trial and error until you find what works for you. Eventually harmony is found by choosing a major that coincides
in a positive way with the person you are. Once this is found, you will be able to establish a system of studying and learning that works for how your
mind works. It is natural that your life will be in disharmony when the circumstances in your life change dramatically, such as when you go to college,
but your life should eventually return to being less stressful. During your college journey, you will make many friends. Many friendships that you make

Persuasive Speech On Going To College

  • 1. Persuasive Speech On Going To College On August 26, was one of the days that U.W Madison was opening up and letting kids move and sign up for classes for the year. College has been around even before America was even a country, allowing kids to get a higher education to get their dream job with young adults moving out of their homes to stay at school for four to eight years. Sometimes taking several hours or the full day to move them every year. If you have a sibling or family member moving off to college it's always hard to move them out. We have to ask how many kids are planning on going to college? Several kids want to go, but with the cost of college undeniably raising, fewer kids are going to be able to afford it. Taylor Hurst an eighteen–year–old, has been accepted to the U.W. See was very excited to be accepted. She was expected because of all the college credits given to her though Spanish class and many more through the Kimberly High School in Wisconsin. "Moving her was difficult, we had to pack her up and take a two–hour drive to unpack her. We took all day moving her and she didn't want us to leave." Her brother Brady Hurst said. A thirteen–year–old boy that is going to need to make the decision in five years. After hours of work packing up her possessions, they left for Madison to start unpacking into her dorm. Taylor got lucky to get into the U.W Madison, but recently she has thought of going to a Technical College because she missed her family and it was getting to hard for her. • 2. Essay on Returning to College as an Adult Returning to College as an Adult Coming to college as an adult, we have many expectations and preconceptions of what college will or will not be. The expectations we have can influence our college life for the better or the worse. My experience since starting college has been an interesting one. People have misconceptions about college because they do not know what to expect. After doing some research, I have concluded that there are three major factors that are often misunderstood about college life. The first is the financial aspect of college. Second, is the relationship between the professors and students. Third is time management. These three factors play an important role in why people are afraid to go down the path to college. ...show more content... There are many options available from low–tuition state universities, financial aid, employer tuition reimbursement. In some cases, you can be eligible for various types of grants. Being a single mother or just shopping at a certain supermarket can make you eligible. There is a misconception about the professors (sometimes called instructors). Questions arise such as; will they make time for me when I need the extra help? How large will the class be? Will they understand that this may not be as easy for me as it is for others? These questions enter our minds and may seem discouraging at times. Through my personal experiences I have found that classroom atmospheres may not always be for everyone. However, that does not mean college life is not for everyone. You can take many alternative routes. You can take advantage of telecourses, online courses, accelerated courses and many other options that may be more suitable. My professors have been great. They come in earlier to help and return e–mails and/or phone calls promptly. You also expect to be able to accomplish your work quickly and with minimal stress, leaving more time to work and spend with your family. You expect to be able to do what you did in high school and still pass. However college, by far, is nowhere as easy as most anticipate. You have to study, unlike high school, where you could float on by with A's by seldomly attending class. College is harder than high school and therefore Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Argumentative Essay About Going To College Jingyu Zhou ESL 250 Professor Trista 05/01/16 Argumentative Essay Nowadays, the ability to attend college is a question for some students in the world. Some people express opinions based on that every student should go to college because a four–year degree could benefit them a lot for their careers. However, there are also some people believe that not everyone should go to college because they think college is increasingly expensive and stressful for students. In fact, the two options of whether going to college or not, have their both sides of good and bad. I would like to say that each student should go to college and finish their four–year college studies. Based on my point of view, I believe college will provide a lot of benefits to...show more content... And those people all have opportunities to make our society to become better. Reason being a more educated background is more likely to generate profits and values. Thus, going to school is the first step of becoming a useful person in the future (Melissa, 2014). Once students go to college, they will face a totally different life. In school, some students who come from different cities, different states, or even different countries have to live independently because college students have to take on their own duties of their independent lives. For example, college students even cook for themselves. It is a good opportunity to make them become more independent. Additionally, self–discipline is another skill that students will gain in the college. "Practicing self–discipline means accepting control and responsibility". Students in the college need to control themselves well. Such as, go to bed early, get up early and study industriously. Students may increase positive outcomes if they can match with these easy requirements (James, p.15). Furthermore, in the busy college life, students will learn how to manage their time properly. They set up a schedule to organize their daily lives. For example, when final week is coming, they need to know when and how much time they need to review for each exam, or how much time they need to spend on each assignment. Planning is also a method that enables students to determine their goals and to Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. How To Write An Essay About Going To College We always believe that going to college is the best decision to have a prosperous future, to be more independent and to become an important person. Currently, the economy is very affected and people focus on how to acquire more money, either going to college, and get a degree, or simply, just working a lot. Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Going To College Essay Going to college has become an extreme controversy because of the expense and debt with which people deal. In "Should Everybody Go to College," Stephanie Owen and Isabel Sawhill argue whether or not obligating students in going to college is a good idea, since some people cannot afford the cost or they are not capable of learning in a college environment. Compelling students to go to college should not be the case. People are told when they are little to make their way to college because that is the way society wants us go. Some careers do not have anything to do with college and the steep investment it brings. To talk about all these variables, this essay will discuss some of the positives and the negatives of this issue. Even...show more content... In the essay "Are Too Many People Going to College", John Stuart Mill interjects, "Universities are not intended to teach the knowledge required to fit men for some special mode of gaining their livelihood" (Mill 234). These two arguments are contradictory because a college degree is actually not teaching you how to have a job. College teaches you the fundamentals of a career, but it does not teach how to get a job or keep a job. My feelings on whether everybody should go to college are mixed. I do support Sawhill's and Owen's position that college can be a great investment. In contrast, I find Mill's speech to be equally persuasive. It just depends on how a person views college and its benefits. On the Website "Psychology Today", Melissa Deuter states that college is for everyone because she feels the diversity at colleges helps with better learning. Deuter goes on to say "Colleges and universities draw students from diverse backgrounds. Students come from urban and rural areas near and far, and there are commonly students from a variety of foreign lands. Exposure to cultural diversity can enhance tolerance and international cultural awareness, positives for any well–adjusted young adult" (Should). Diversity is one way that college is a good investment, but Marc Joseph, from the Huffington Post, would claim college may not be the best option for everybody. "This weak economy of ours is forcing institutions to limit their Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Essay About Moving To College When reading this prompt I immediately thought of my first day moving into the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. My parents never had the chance to go to college and when they helped me move in it was a moment that I knew I would remember the rest of my life. For many it is special but, it wasn't necessarily that I was at college it was more about how I got out of my comfort zone and made it happen. I was never really pushed by my family to pursue further education. I am the first in my family to go to college and it's honestly a blessing to be able to have the opportunity that others don't have. I plan on also being the first to graduate in my family from a University. I'm really hoping that I influence my fellow peers and family ...show more content... Growing up in high school I was molded by work ethic. At only the age of 16 I knew what my plan was for college and I worked hard to save my money. I skipped all the parties, football games, and late nights doing things that wouldn't contribute to my future. I was in charge of a stain crew from age 16–19 which wasn't a typical teenagers job after school. I started community college and I was unsure about being a business major because I had never had a business related position. Eventually I made the bold decision to walk into the sales office to talk with the sales manager about working with him. Luckily the sales manager liked my determination and spoke with the other employees in administration that knew me, thus resulting in my new position in sales. I have always believed that if a person wants something enough that it is usually attainable with effort. Starting my first position in sales confirmed my passion for enriching the lives of others through business. During my Freshman year of college, I was working the full time sales position and going to college full time. I was only 19 and had 3 years of manger experience and now was selling and designing log cabins. This was a win–win situation for me and certainly the CEO of the company because I got some great experience and he got a low cost employee to generate revenue. I lost a lot of friends when I learned how to prioritize reaching my goals and I Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. Essay about I'm Going to College I'm Going to College Neither my grandmother, nor any of my great aunts, went on to college. It was too expensive for their family. My great Aunt Nancy, however, did try to take night classes at the University Extension, which was held at her high school. Unfortunately, she was unable to continue paying for these classes, so she left the University Extension program with only twelve credits earned. Aunt Nancy just continued to work at the job she acquired, right out of high school, and work her way up through the ranks at this job. There was no push by her parents to continue her education, and therefore, there was no pressure on her to attend college. Aunt Nancy had once told me, "There is great value in a college...show more content... "I felt trapped in my first career," my mother explained to me. She knew that in order to pursue another career, going back to college was her only choice. She wanted to figure out what she was good at, and then maybe go out and apply for a job in that field. My mother did pull me aside one day and stated that "while an education is very valuable, you don't need to go to college just to get educated." She was obviously trying to teach me that sometimes people can learn more from their experiences. I try to learn a little something everyday, just by paying attention to the events that go on in my life. Just the other day, I learned that the hardest thing to do is forgive someone for their wrongdoings, but God will always forgive, as long as you ask for it. Friends of mine and I got into a big brawl, and I knew I was the one doing something wrong. I knew that I needed to learn from my mistakes, and ask for forgiveness from the ones I hurt, especially God. I guess that is what my mother was trying to teach me. She wanted to point out that as long as you learn from your mistakes, you may end up learning more than you would reading books. My mother told me how she loved to read when she was younger, but that as you get older it is harder to find time for it. She can remember times when she would sit outside on the front porch, just reading her books. My mom then Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. Personal Experience: Going to College Essay We all have many different routes we want to take after high school. We all get to choose what we want to do with our lives. Some choose to start working, go to college, or even travel. As for me, I chose to go to college. At first I would not even consider going to college. Overtime I was encouraged by my parents and college students. That is when I knew it was something I wanted to do. Although many people think that college is a waste of money, college can help you get a good job, help secure your future, be open to new opportunities, and you can even meet you lifelong friends. Many people don't want to go to college because it is expensive. They think that it is just a waste of money. They don't realize that it is more like an...show more content... I'm not sure which to choose now, but I will have it figured out. Going to college right after high school will help me answer that question. College will help you decide what career you love and want to work in. Who knows, you might even end up discovering and taking a career direction you never thought you'd take. Even if you decide later on in life that you don't want that career anymore, you can just go back to college for a new one. So later in life if I decide I want to other career path, I can always go back. Growing up, most of us don't really experiment the world around us. We are in our comfort zone and don't ever leave it. College can give you many opportunities to explore the world and find out who you really are. You can expand your interests and reach your goals. You can discover things about yourself you didn't know. Getting a college education isn't just about being able to get a good job. It can help you with so much more that will help you in life. Obviously you won't learn everything in college. But going can teach you all the basics you need to know about life. It can teach you so many more skills than just those you need to get a job. You get to the chance to meet new people and get to know them. You meet people of all races, religions, and more. It can help you have a more open mind about things in life. College is when you can test yourself and see what you can achieve. Let be honest, after Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Essay About Going To College It is often said that people who go to college are more likely to succeed than the people who don't go to college. The ones who further their education after high school are usually the ones expected to go far in life and get better prepared in the real world. College is not for everyone and the ones who do go end up dropping out and not graduating. I do not believe it is beneficial to go to college.
