transferable skills
1. Transferable skills:
My top 5 transferable skills are listening, logical argument, problem solving,
leadership and flexibility.
Listening:
For the transferable skills questionnaire one of my top 5 skills was listening. I
am good at picking out the important information when other people are
speaking and I listen carefully. Listening is a good skill to have for college and
if you’re working in a business. If your able to listen carefully you can then
think through what needs to be done. In order for me to be able to listen
carefully I need to have a clear head and to be in a quiet environment.
Listening to other people’s ideas and needs is also a good trait to have in a
business or in college. Being able to listen in disputes will also help resolve
them and keep a business running. I developed this skill by my experience in
secondary school and college as I learned that if I don’t listen carefully I may
not get to do my work properly.
Logical Argument:
My second skill is logical argument. In a difficult situation, I am able to get
my point across in a logical, ordered and concise manner. I am a very fair
person, when there is a dispute I will listen to both sides and offer logical
advice to sort out to problem. In order to be logical, you need to be able to
think clearly about problems, disputes, or any difficulty. Being logical is also a
good skill to have when having to make tough decisions in certain situations.
You will hopefully make the right choice when having to do so.
Leadership:
Thirdly, I have the skill of leadership. Leadership is very important in any
group or organisation. It means being put in charge of a team or certain
place. A good leader needs to make the right decisions in situations and be
able to delegate work to different people or sections. A good leader should
also be good a motivating staff or people in their group. I believe I am a good
leader because I am, able to take charge and not be too hard on people and
listen to everyone’s ideas and opinions in a group. If the leader role fails, it
may lead to problems in the workplace or group and lead to a bad result due
to the people in the group being discouraged. As a leader, I am able to build
mutual respect with people I am partners with or in a group with. Leadership
skills that I have include: motivation, listening, fair, problem solving, decision
making, good time management. I am also good at organising things and
people and I also believe that to be a good leader you must have a positive
attitude.
Flexibility:
Another one of my skills is flexibility. I have the ability to adjust and adapt to
changing situations, and turn easily form one subject to another. In a
2. business situation or a group situation I am good at being able to adjust to
changes being made. I usually agree with what is happening but if I don’t I
will be able to express myself in a proper manner. In bar work, you need to
be flexible with your hours, which I have experience with. You could be
working till late in the middle of the night and early enough in the day, so you
may have long hours so you need to be able to deal with that. This will
include very little sleep.
Problem solving:
Finally, I have the skill of being able to solve problems. I can identify the
obstacles to the completion of tasks and devise solutions to solve them. If
there is a problem in a business, I will be able to think through a plan or idea
to fix it. I am good at analysing and critically evaluate important information.
I can communicate ideas for problems or important information by speech.
There is usually a very clear and simple solution to problems or disputes and I
have to skill to figure it out in the appropriate manner. I can make a
calculated decision between two or more options. I can also undertake
demanding jobs to get the work done efficiently.
