EDUCATION PHILOSOPHY
I believe that all children can learn and that they want to learn. I believe in lifelong learning, for
myself and others. To that end, the ability and desire for learning must begin as early as possible. It
must be encouraged and nurtured at every turn.
All children have a right to learn in a secure environment where they don’t fear embarrassment from
wrong answers.
Teachers should be aware of students’ situations in order to accommodate emotional, psychological
and social needs, as well as their cognitive development. This is achieved through the collaborative
efforts of the school community. The input of school psychologists, social workers, counselors and
interventionists is necessary for the best possible outcomes for all learners.
Parental, family and community support and involvement play a vital role in promoting and ensuring
educational success.
Learning is achieved through a variety of methods, including visual, auditory, and hands on activities.
Cooperative learning and the use of technology are integral components of today’s education.
Students learn best when they are engaged in the process. Teaching self-evaluation skills and
explaining rubrics enables students to gain ownership of their learning.
I also believe in setting goals for individuals and groups. I use positive behavior tools and I model
appropriate behavior. It is important to recognize and reinforce positive behavior and progress
toward goals.
