Business Manager January 2013 – March 2016
• Using the Budget Share allocation of £3.8M, proposed a detailed income and expenditure
budget for ratification by the Headteacher and Governing Body.(HCSS budgeting tool)
• Contributed to the governance of the school by advising the senior management team and
the governing body when required on matters relating to the school’s budgets.
• Ensured financial support practices comply with Government and County financial
guidelines to ensure they meet statutory and Local Authority requirements.
• Maintained the accuracy and currency of SAP so that the school’s annual accounts and
associated information could be produced.
• Saved the school over £30,000 through developing contacts with local businesses.
• Converted a loss of £5,000 per annum into a profit of over £20,000 per annum by taking
over the management of the sports hall from an external organisation.
• Made savings of over £18,000 by negotiating and monitoring the performance of
contracts for services eg cleaning and reprographics.
• Project managed capital developments on site, including complete exterior decoration,
provision of replacement windows and refurbishment of classrooms and offices and
ensured uninterrupted teaching.
• Helped provide the school’s strategic vision and objectives by designing, planning and
implementing solutions.
• Represented the school at senior level at County network meetings.
• Managed the organisation of all recruitment activities to the school, including advertising,
completion of all pre-employment checks, preparation and issuing of payroll and
