To summarise, I believe that the script writing process turned out to be a success. Even
though there were some challenges, I feel I did well to overcome these. Overall, I feel I
produced a good quality script.
Over the course of the script writing process I had several meetings with the client who
helped me to improve my script. In my first meeting the client suggested I replace certain
words to make it more specific. For example, I replaced the word ‘school’ with ‘college’ to
clarify to the audience that my characters were post 16. She also suggested that I add a brief
character description to help introduce the character when they’re first introduced. I did
this by introducing Harvey who is the first to enter the scene and stated his age and what he
looked like.
In the second meeting, the client suggested that I address some formatting issues to make
my script look professional. I did this by cantering the my dialogue and numbering my
scenes correctly. I also corrected some grammatical errors and spelling mistakes. The client
also suggested I change some of the content in my script, for example getting rid of the
extra weapon and changing the game my characters played.
During the process, I decided to change the name of the script from ‘RAGE’ to ‘Trouble in
Paradise.’ I made this change as I felt it would appeal more to the target audience. I also
made a tweak to the plot by adding a cliff-hanger at the end which I feel makes the plot
more interesting a it leaves the audience to wonder what’s going to happen next. In my
third client meeting, the client showed liking to the plot twist so I decided to keep it.
I also ensured that my script met the legal and ethical requirements and it fit within the age
certification of 15. For example, I don’t have any swear words, however there is a moment
where we see a body which we presume is dead. I have also met the 5-10 minute time
requirement which I calculated during the production of my shooting script.
Overall I believe this process was a success and I feel I have generated a script to a
professional standard and I have clearly conveyed my vision of the filminto the script for
the target audience to enjoy. I learned the professional format of the script which I ensured
throughout my script and I feel will help me if I go on to create more scripts in the future. If
I were to do this again, I would want to have more meetings with the client as I felt they
clearly helped me to improve me script.
